I have compiled a list of 100 improvements that I feel would improve FiFa and cement my position as a FiFa fan with FiFa 09

ESSENTIALS

1) Have a TV company sponsor the game to make it feel more like you’re watching a match on TV (Sky Sports , Setanta , maybe ESPN) although don't overuse the TV companies name or make it too commercial (e.g. "Setanta Sports' FiFa 2009") But please don't have a made up TV company like EA Sports TV , the EA Sports Boots are bad enough).
2) More Competitions
- World Cup
- European Championships
- Copa America
- African Cup of Nations
- World Club Championships
- Champions League (Not EEC)
- UEFA Cup (Not EFA)
- Copa Libertadores
3) Better Commentary
- This is hard to explain but say if there is a shot that is narrowly wide have the commentator stop what he is saying and go "Oooooooh" or something. In FiFa 20008 he says all the build up and by the time he comments on the shot the GK has already taken the kick out.
- Add a third commentator and switch between him and Andy Gray throughout the season, this would give the game more variety
Commentators Mention
- Players form
- Milestones
- League Positions
- Birthdays
- Job Pressure
- League Positions Before + After Match
4) Visible Ref & Linesman
5) More time to complete transfers during Pre-Season
6) Proper Training Mode
7) 3D fans
8] Make editing formations less fiddly (in PES all you have to do is click and drag , no saving is involved)
9) Ability to Create a Stadium
10) Ranked Be a Pro mode
11) More even distribution of International teams, FiFa 2008 has loads of European countries but barely any from anywhere else
12) Be able to take hard low shots not just placed ones
13) Create a team
14) Snow weather conditions
15) Fans go crazy if a late winner/equaliser is scored & In Derby games
16) Be able to play music from your hard drive not cheesy Euro-Pop
17) Photo-Realistic Managers on side-line
18] More goal celebrations PES has over 70
19) Unlimited amount of stats available for created players
20) More Stadiums
- City of Manchester Stadium
- Santiago Bernabeu
- Croke Park
- Maracana
- Parkhead
- Fenerbahçe Sükrü Saracoglu Stadi
- Estadio do Dragao
- Estadio José Alvalade
- Amsterdam ArenA
- Luzhniki Stadion (With Noticeable Artificial Turf)
- Soccer City Stadium (SA 2010)
- King Senzangakhona Stadium (SA 2010)

Would Like To See

21) More Leagues
- Argentine
- Greek
- Russian
- Ukrainian
- Bulgarian
- Romanian
- Qatari
22) 4th Official (cut-scenes)
23) Player, Young Player and Manager of the Month awards
24) In Manager Mode be able to have more than one scout
25) Real schedules for league games (This was in FiFa a few years back but has seemed to have disappeared)
26) Player requires stretcher or medical car after a serious injury
27) Add best teams from minor footballing nations into Rest of World section
28] Be able to see substitutes warming up + interacting with departing player
29) In Manager Mode, If you are doing well other clubs offer you jobs
30) Fix minor mistakes, Community Shield being played at home teams ground etc.
31) Be able to bring GK up for corners late in game
32) Weather effects ball physics
33) Licensed GK gloves (Uhlsport, Reusch, Adidas)
34) Club Mascots
35) Child Mascots at start of game
36) Ball Boys and Cameramen that move
37) Be able to use USB camera to put your face in the game
38] More Generic stadiums
39) Longer Pre-Match scenes
40) Goal of the Month award
41) World Player of the Year & European Player of the Year
42) A few of the best U-21 countries, England, Argentina, Nigeria etc.
43) In Manager Mode play one day at a time
44) Be able to stop + start when taking a penalty kick, like C.Ronaldo
45) More injuries, some club teams have most of their 1st team missing
46) Crowd wear club colours
47) Real advertising hoardings, not just other EA games
48] Pre Season Friendlies and Tournaments
49) Be able to do 'dances' on the goal-line with the goalie , like in FiFa WC 06.
50) Show player holding head etc. after a PK miss.
51) Show all the players in a line on the half way line before a shoot-out.
52) Show the player walking up the pitch with the ball in a shoot-out.
53) Have real looking screen animations (e.g. after goals show score + scorers along bottom).
54) Ability to wear gloves but have short sleeves (Steven Pienaar)
55) Be able to pick a commentary name for created players
56) Fans boo + whistle at:
i)Former Players
ii)Players who injured one of their players
iii)Players who caused one of their players to get sent off
57) Different kinds of cheering/atmospheres for different teams (Portsmouth , Spanish or Turkish Teams.)
58] No cut scenes for bookings or goal kicks
59) Stadium effects (Confetti, Flares, Mexican Waves etc.)
60) Be able to save replays straight to your hard drive
61) Real sponsors in Manager Mode
62) Be able to take Penalties with GK (Rogerio Ceni)
63) Break down appearance and goal stats into League, Cup, Euro etc.
64) If you are winning by a narrow margin against a big team and your GK catches a cross late in the game you should be able to go to ground and waste a few seconds of time
65) Integrate Rumble featurelalalalaing the Post, Crunching tackles etc.)
66) Player Exchange deals in Manager Mode
67) In Manager Mode pay player wages weekly, not after every match
68] Trophy presentations after winning a league or cup
69) Have Home and Away GK jerseys
70) Mud Stains appear if player falls down on a wet day (This was in FiFa 2004 I think)
71) Longer time to complete transfers when you start a new Manager Mode
72) Don’t have 3rd kits as unlockable extras, they should be available from the start
73) Have 3rd kits for most teams
74) Delayed offside decisions, The players all celebrate until they notice the Linesman’s flag
75) Real + Photo-realistic Referees
76) 2 Player Arena Mode [Like NBA 08]
77) Be able to mix + match kits (Manchester United wear either black, white or red shorts when they are wearing their red jersey)
78] More Camera Angles (Broadcast, Bird’s Eye)
79) Much More Player traits (Football Manager 08 has over 50)
80) Be able to wear neck-warmers (Rolando Bianchi, Manchester City)
81) Club Personalities e.g. Arsenal like to play the ball short and slowly build up attacks but Bolton Wanderers play long balls up to a target man
82) In Manager Mode, be able to compare one of your players with a transfer target
83) Have different size pitch dimension (Emirates Stadium is very wide but Div 2 England is short and narrow)
84) If your team is losing late in the game you are showed cut-scenes of fans leaving the stadium
85) Don’t have the defenders congratulating the forward after a goal, this is unrealistic
86) Louder SFX (Ball hitting post/hoardings, net rippling)
87) More personalized menus, In FiFa 2004 the background was of your favourite teams jersey
88] Lots more multiple choice questions in Manager Mode, after 1 season you seem to be getting the same ones again and again
89) In Manager Mode you should be able to find out info about teams in other leagues
90) Be able to pick a vice-captain
91) Be able to pick what players go into the box for corners (Like PES)
92) If a player is injured for 5 weeks you should be able to play him after 4 weeks but he risks further injury
93) Goalkeeper occasionally wears a baseball cap if it is a sunny day
94) Be able to call a player short when taking a free kick
95) When crossing a free kick have one of your players run over the ball thus disorganising the other teams defence
96) When defending a free kick choose what action your wall carries out
97) Players dive in front of the ball if a close range shot is taken in a crowded penalty area
98] Goal Updates go across the bottom of the screen and fans cheer if a rival team concede a goal
99) Fans boo loudly at the end of a game that you have performed badly in
100) Be able to just play a penalty shootout without going through a whole match
Great work, some you can already do.

Default Suggestions for FIFA 09

FIFA 08 on XBOX 360 is awesome and I switched from PES/Winning Eleven to FIFA (which I used to hate) because the gameplay convinced me in FIFA 08.

The game is close to perfect, but I have some suggestions for the next instalment:
1) Make all important national teams (such as Iran, Ivory Coast, etc.) available
2) Please give us a pre-set World Cup and EC tournament mode where we can easily fill in the teams (like in PES). The selection mode is too cumbersome for custom tournaments at the moment. If you include all national teams and have optional qualification rounds for World Cup and European Championship (also Africa Cup and Asia Cup), you will be my Gods.
3) Some league competitions (such as Bundesliga) have a calendar where you play your opponents in exactly the same sequence for the return fixtures (Jan - May) as for the first fixtures (Aug - Dec). This is currently not implemented. It would be more realistic to implement the authentic calendar modes for all league competitions, especially for the manager mode.
4) After winning a tournament, I would like to see my players celebrate on the pitch and lift and kiss the trophy in a victory celebration
5) In manager mode, you should get offers from other (better) clubs at the end of the season if you perform well with weaker teams

Default Fifa 09 Suggestions

Three easy suggestions for Hardcore Simulation Fans:

1) Real-Time Halves: Please bring back the 45 minute half selection. 10 minute halves just don't cut it for me.

2) Real-Time Scheduling: A simple download for up-to-minute league and cup scheduling for your favorite team.

3) Cut Scenes, Cut Scenes, Cut Scenes: A mind-blowing amount of cut scenes leads to more "What game are you watching?" comments instead of "What game are you playing?"

Cheers

i would like an option for a rematch.

When the game is over in the menu options have something that says "Request Rematch". after this then have it send a message to the user you just played. The message saying the "xxxxx" has requested for a rematch to be played etc. That would be really helpful.

A lot of the times i really want to have a rematch against someone but it takes forever to get it started again. messaging the other user to meet you in a lobby then inviting to a game (im talking about a ranked match).

it would just make things easier.

thx.

Default 2 Player Manager mode

This may have been posted before and appoligies if it has been but:

Both me and my mate play FIFA religiously on a friday night and have owned every version since 1998. One option which we would like to see, which was available in previous versions albeit a slight variation (Career Mode), is the ability to manage and develop two teams as two players eg (Me managing Charlton, and my mate manage Chelsea).

Playing a tournament mode doesn't really cut it as transfers are not possible and once the league is finished we have to start another one.

Default Internation Mode

I was thinking one day about Fabio Cappelo's first England squad and i thought of something that actually sounds brilliant and realistic.
I would like to see a new franchise called " International Mode " this would be similar to the Manager Mode. In this mode you should be able to choose a country of any choice and become their new manager.
First of all you should have to choose your debut Internation Squad. So this is where the good parts come in.
1. Make a shortlist of players that catch your eye.
2. Go to games to watch individual players. ( You can quick sim or use the Be A Pro feature to determind how your star plays. )
3. Choose your squads.

Then you can play your International games and select squads for friendlies, Euro Qualifiers and World Cup games.

I hope my idea sounds good and possibly makes it onto a FIFA game!

I expect some of these have been mentioned already but here goes:

1) More interaction with managers after the game
2) Actual feedback from the TV pundits after games like you get in real life
3) The media sturring things up about players apparently being interested in moving clubs or clubs having an interest in your players
4) Champions League in the first season, I hate waiting a year to get into it and then find out that those that qualified from England especially are unrealistic.
5) Actually have the top 4 finish in the top 4 with the possibility 1 club fails, e.g. Liverpool are in a fight for 4th place.
6) Actual scorelines come in from games like in the Champions League where you play games at the same time. A lot of the time the scorelines down the bottom are from the previous week.
7) The Ability to see different leagues with the newspapers also reporting on who is performing well, like young players who then gain the interest of the bigger clubs
Proper loaning of players where they actually play and also you should have the option to bring back players. One example is Johan Djourou, he should be able to come back in the January transfer window instead of having to buy him back.
9) Be ability at editing positions. I hate how a players overall goes down massively if his main position is different to your original formation.
10) Better injuries. It would be nice to be forced into picking players who don't regularly get games. For instance Rosicky for Arsenal tends to get injured a lot.
11) Rivalries to be better, like the crowd getting rattled up at fouls or goals. It would also be nice to see teams get rattled up by a decision.
12) Manager rivalries would also be nice, like you get Ferguson commenting on Arsenal or Chelsea.
13) The ability to pick your current team manager. I just prefer to go with Arsenal and just go for Arsene Wenger
14) Substitutions are messed up. You can pick your main subs, but everytime you play a Champions League tie and it moves the 7 subs it screws up your subs.
15) Teams should be more willing to keep their current players. I got to my second season and Chelsea had decided to get rid of Drogba and Ashley Cole (who went to Birmingham).
16) It would be nice to see Derby County actually get relegated like in real life.
17) Maybe have newly promoted teams buy a couple of better players. QPR got promoted and had a poor team and as such went down without even gaining a victory.
1 Maybe have if a manager does extremely badly he should be replaced (by someone realistic) like this current season has seen a large number of managers get sacked.
19) Proper substitutions and offsides, currently it shows just one player running on the pitch which is highly unreal.
20) Bigger teams should actually rest some players like in the cup fixtures where Arsenal play their reserves. I hate playing against teams who have no stamina because of a busy schedule.
21) Should be able to get more youth players coming through the team and more competition from clubs in the transfers.
22) Fix fixtures being played on the same day
23) International fixtures and cups taking away some of your players. The African cup of nations is one such example
24) The amount of goal assists a player makes should also be counted. All that is shown are goals scored
25) Better scouting. Having only one unnamed scout is dissapointing and the choice of where you can get players from is too few. Plus if I want a player from England I shouldn't have to troll through Europe to find one who hasn't got a ridiculous name. There should also be more details on the players you get. It doesn't even show age which is something I don't get.
26) It has been said before but more and better stadiums as well as having officials, maybe even real life officials.
27) Club takeovers, all there currently is on this is a question about it and then you see nothing about it again.
2 More commentators (except Mark Lawrenson). I don't think Martin Tyler and Andy Gray tend to commentate at every level of the game and a commentary change for different games would spice it up a bit more. There should also be more talk about the current situation of the league and who is doing well in terms of form etc.
29) Offside flags going up after a goal has been scored to disallow it and if the offside flag goes up and a player continues to play on there should be a chance of that player getting booked. There should also be more contraversy over decisions like a player could be onside but is given offside which could see the manager getting a bit frustrated.
30) Staff members should actually have names, like if you select a real life manager you should get his real life number 2 sitting next to him watching the game with it sometimes cutting to where they are sitting showing their reactions. You should perhaps also get the option of giving retiring players a job like as a scout which I think has happened at Arsenal with the likes of Grimandi and Overmars.
31) Real-life sponsors and the possibility of designing new season kits and also the ability to create stadiums and upload them to the game. Lots of games create new maps and stuff so creating stadiums and over things could be a great angle for Fifa
32) Celebrations after the game or after a cup or league victory with a lap of honor and/or presentation of medals and cup.
33) More off season goings-on like you can set up cups like the Emirates cup and also scout out talent to buy for the new season.
34) More things off the pitch like interactions with fans and what you do or say off the pitch coming under scrutiny from people like the media. This should also be applicable for players where some tend to say a lot more and cause some controversy

I think that is all I have for now I just hope some of these are put into the game otherwise it would be dissapointing

Better arena effects.. Flares/Air Horns/Drums/Etc..

Jerseys can get dirty/muddy/etc..

Rain/Snow/Very Bright-Sunny Day.. Have players wear warmer clothes if it's very cold, show the temperature on the screen.. Have players breath out cold air when in close ups..

Much more elaborate Manager Mode.. I wish there was actual game play to Football Manager, because that would be the best game there is. Period. If FIFA 09 could get even half of the options available in FM2008 for the Manager Mode, it would be brilliant.

International Manager Mode
Either integrated with the traditional Club mode, or as a separate entity. Allow you to select players from your given country, track their progress, training sessions, friendlies, etc. Ability to play in all the major International tournaments. World Cup, Euro, African Cup, etc.

When doing motion capture, instead of using one player like ronaldinho and a few others, why not fit up a whole 2 teams who are playing a match against each other and record thier movements as it would me much more natural and not forced.

I noticed this whilst watching a match the other night and looked at how players move and it just seems more natural.

Dont know if it's possible or if you have already done it but just a suggestion

i think that the keepers are just to good to be true and for peace sake, cut out the cut scenes(ie when a player misses his last penalty making the opponents win,do not cut the scenes, thus making the scenes go off and then come on to see the player with his team mates which does not go on for long like pes)let the movement of the scene flow from the long range camera to the zoomed one.

I just had a quick look through this forum and couldnt find this idea, so i hope im not repeating someone else.

Basically, amongst all the other ideas you guys had, which should be implemented, i had the idea of pre set teams as per the rival being played.

More a feature for Manager Mode, you select 3 teams of players, so you would have your best 11, a good 11, and maybe a reserve type 11. Then, dependant on the class of your opponent, you get an automatically selected team, which you can then play around with, or you can just select best 11 all the time.

So, for teams 0 stars to 2, your worst, 3 stars, your average team, and 4 and 5 stars your best 11.

Whilst this would make it easier when you're playing through a season, it would also add a realistic dimension to playing against the CPU.

For example, if im Accrington playing Man Utd in the Cup, they put out the reserve 11 as they would in real life, but if im Chelsea, and its the final, the best 11 turns up.

I know there are loads of issues with this, but i thought its a good way to implement squad rotation by the CPU, and just adds to the realism of not seeing the same team all the time.

Im sure EA can work out all the bugs, tweak it to be a great feature.

What do you guys think?

A couple of things that I've noticed that need to be looked at for Fifa 09.

First off throw-ins. Throw-ins are all about momentum, a quick throw-in can change a game or even lead to a goal. Since the Fifa series lets both teams get into position for the throw-in, it kind of defeats the purpose. Plus I see no reason for the clock to stop on throw-ins. Just put a timer on it like goal kicks have.

Second I think the multiplayer needs to be adressed. The ranking system needs to be redone. There needs to be to ranking systems, one for single player and one for be a pro mode. And I see no reason why you should gain points for losing... this kind of defeats the system, unless the points for losing to winning were drastically different. Also there should be different game modes, for instance I don't always want to play against Barcelona or Man U. Sometime running with a four star team or worse is a lot of fun, so maybe a match making for lesser teams. Same goes for International, I think there should be one for just International teams and one for just club teams. Lastly why are some national teams left out? If you can explain to me why South Africa has a team and not Ivory Coast/Egypt/Ghana I'd love to hear it. I understand there are issues with being allowed to have people and teams in the game, but that didn't stop ea from putting up a fake Netherlands team did it?

Also something needs to be done with headers, a different system because making headers is rediciously hard. I've almost given up on them just chesting the ball and trying to get a shot off that way. I can't count how many times I've hit the crossbar on a perfect header with people who are suppose to have good heading accuracy.

Lastly. I love be a pro mode, but I think the camera in be a pro mode needs to be looked at. I know you can change the camera views, but the actual camera in be a pro is what makes it fun. Only problem is it swings in to close or doesn't swing to your player fast enough.

Last I love Fifa 08 it is by far the best game so far in the Fifa series. Pro Evo sucks and doesn't even come close to the Fifa series. Hopefully these suggestions are helpful and I look forward to seeing even better Fifa games in the future.

My suggestion would be for centre backs to come up for set pieces.

6 second rule free kicks should be put in. It's annoying when people just hold the ball for 6 seconds to wait for the keeper to kick it.

I would like if you could go a international team like scotland arrange friendly before big upcoming matches and play in the world cup i would also like if their was the scottish irn bru leagues this would make the spl better because there would be relegation. i would like to stadiums like hampden ibrox and parkhead it would also be good if you could choose a different make for the shirts like nike, adidas, umbro, puma depending on how well you do in your season. if fifa 09 had this i think alot more people would buy this.

I would like to see the quick free kick idea implemented, its annoying when your on the attack and you get hacked and the other teams players are automaitcally back in there positions, possibly pressing a button to take a quick free kick.

The wether system and how it effects the play on the pitch surfaces, for example rain means slippery surface the ball slides along th floor.

MOre animations, like if a teams scores a last minute winner, the player should run to his teams bench and celebrate with his team mates or something.

Visible officials and also the whole subistuion number thing, where the fourth offical holds up a board with the numbers of the players on it and have the managers arguing with them if a decision has gone against his team unfairly.

also if a free kcik or penalty is being taken at the end of the match some sort of system where you have to concentrate more to take it, or the some way of making it more nerve raking and harder to take.

also bringing the goal keepers up for corners and free kciks would be good aswell.

and possibly having a ranking system for the online be a pro multiplayer thing to stop people messing around and ruining games, maybe even allowing two people on one console to play on the online multiplayer be a pro using a guest account to get 11 vs 11.

also finally when the added time is displayed, have it so that you can see the time counting on rather than just stopping at 90:00 or 105:00 or 120:00.

just a few suggestions.

I would allow people too use another teams set up, because personally i like the way some people have there formations spread out, but if u try to use the basic ones from the formation menu it seems kind of cluttered.

i'd be happy with:

- Create a Team/Stadium
- Scottish Lower Leagues...year after year we've only had the SPL which means all national cups start in the quarter finals!
- Better stadiums for teams that don't have their own stadiums in the game e.g. Barca - Camp Nou, Man Utd - Old Trafford, Arsenal - Emirates etc not everyone has a stadium shaped like the "THAT" stadium or a terraced ground from 1917!
- More intelligent Goalkeepers, they're still a little stupid and some dives are unrealistic.
- Better ball physics on some shots and headers, some almost look like lobbed shots/headers that go at speeds that would easily be saved by the GK but they go in, i rarely get a bullet shot/header.
