I'm getting the problem too and I can't uninstall the IE7 update because it's a shared computer so it just installs it automatically and everybody else want their computer to be up-to-date and I'm the only one who just wants to play FIFA ![]() So I'm waiting too

hehe...Log on through Interactive leagues, and then go to matchup lobby.. Then it will work, but you will get back to interactive leagues after the game, but hey, better than nothing

My understanding is that EA are looking into the issue and they're working to fix it. Haven't checked today though so I don't know if it's fixed or something, but I really hope there will be a fix because uninstalling a windows update to get a game working is hardly ideal for anybody. The workaround mentioned above (about going through Interactive Leagues then to the lobby) should work, and it shows that the problem is with the first page you get when you login via Online Play, so hopefully that narrows it down for EA. and thank you (about the avatar icon)

We need this microsoft update, its a security update thats important as all security updates are from microsoft.
I for one wont let this thread finish until there is a fix for this, I dont care which company does it, as long as its done, and done VERY soon, this is an absolute farce load of [Removed by Smart - evading the swear filter] that people are having to cancel a very important update for they'r operating system in order to be able to play a game they have forked out loads of cash for, bloody rediculous, and total lalalala from Ea's point of view too. Iam very angry to say the least !!!!!!!!!!! Last edited by SmartCanuck1988; 20-12-2007 at 12:20 AM.. |

Logging onto 'Interactive League' to get around the problem of the up-date may well be a quick fix for FIFA but the same problem occurs on EA's TIGER WOODS 08. Scots7777 is right, we need a real fix, and we also need more imformation about it from EA, they have loyal customers who buy their products year after year, these customers should be treated with more respect and not treated like 'mugging victims'. There must be loads of people who can't play on-line and hav'nt the knowledge to uninstall the up-date. EA should get their act together, give more imformation and sort out some sort of patch quickly.

I just wanted to confirm that there is a lot of work going on in the office to try to resolve this issue. We're working closely with the Tiburon office to try to get something figured out and have had people working on it since the issue was first detailed.
There are some workaround which people have found gets them back online: If you haven't installed the latest update from Microsoft uncheck the option to update the Internet Explorer 7 Update for Windows XP (KB942615) and don't update this file. Another option people have had a positive experience with is to revert your system to the point before you installed the update although this isn't something we could recommend as it might have other detrimental affects on your PC. Definitely research this before you go through with it. There have been some reports that logging in through the Interactive Leagues menu works although I've not been able to confirm this myself. I'd like to say again that we are working on this and do hope to get a fix or resolution out as soon as possible. As soon as I hear anything else I'll post back here. |

The fix is pretty simple i'd say. The homepage of your flash lobby is attempting to load something that IE7 is now disallowing due to the windows IE update. So the easiest thing to do is grab that main page after you click login, then simply take all the elements out and add them back in one at a time to the flash lobby. QA should be able to test each one as they're added in and confirm if it loads or not. If it does, then add in the next item. |

Here is the very latest on the situation with the IE7 PC update issue. At this point we've been able to determine that the issue stems from the IE7 Update for Windows and not related to the most recent EA patch.
Since the update was released we've had teams in Canada and Florida looking at this in an attempt to get a fix. We've spoken with Microsoft and are working with them to determine the issue then provide a solution to this as soon as possible. Given the proximity to the Christmas holidays however, it's unlikely we'll have any update on this issue until after New Year. During our testing we found that the issue doesn't occur when all security patches are installed in the correct order and we were able to determine the issue only occurs on certain hardware configurations. As I've mentioned earlier in this thread there is a workaround for this issue. If you use the Interactive Leagues option to log in you will be able to play online normally. While i've got the attention of someone from EA can you tell us why you dont use trusted beta tester from the fifa community's to test fifa before release to get rid of most of the bugs and glitches before it is released? Last edited by AFDLee; 24-12-2007 at 11:33 PM.. |

Unfortunately; due to security implications we don't allow pre-release software outside of EA. It's something I'd love to get sorted but historically there have been issues which mean it's very unlikely to change.
Regarding the people who get it for Christmas and still have problems they'll hopefully contact the customer service teams as they're aware of the issues and will be able to suggest the workaround. |
