PS2 online Multiplayer

Is it possible to play the online multiplayer modes on PS2? How does it work? Do I do it via the Co-op Be A Pro feature, or is that only for local multi player gaming?

You can only play normal player vs player matches online, just get your PlayStation 2 connected to the internet, make a EA Sports account, and then it gives you options to play online.

But I haven't been on for a long time, so I don't know if the servers are still running.

Source: I used to play FIFA 08 Online on PS2 before I got a PS3...
