Business as usual

West Ham 1-0 Wigan

Those who were hoping that the everton victory over the hammers would spark a string of losses for them, had their hopes dashed as a west Ham reserve team made short work of Wigan. Camara scored in the 54th minute to ensure that Alan Curbishley knew he was a great choice for a back up striker. James Collins also impressed by clearing the ball during 2 Wigan corners. Generally, the West Ham reserves showed great potential

Camara injury impacts celebrations

Tottenham 1-2 West Ham

The match opened with a beauty from Dyer in the 34th minute, which Camara increased with his effort in the 43rd minute. Moments after camara had another chance to score, but king went in from behind, injuring the striker, which resulted in him seeing a straight Red. A Robert Green fumble in the 73rd saw Keane get spurs on the scoreboard, but Green redeemed himself in the 80th minute with a fine penalty save. Final score 1-2 to the hammers

Torquay go down in thriller

Everton Vaughan 10' Gueye 90' 2-1 Torquay Grant 64'

Torquay travelled to Goodison Park to face the 3rd placed Everton. The visitors got enough to a dissmal start with Mikel Arterta playing a classy through ball for James Vaughan who had no trouble finishing the job. Torquay were out of sorts as Everton dominated the play, but could not add to there tally with a 1-0 halftime lead. The second half started much the same with Torquay desperate in defence to keep the homeside at bay. Finally in the 64th minute Jamaican Striker Joel Grant weaved past 2 defenders across the face of goal and drilled the ball past Tim Howard. For the next 25 minutes both teams played free flowing attacking Football trying to pull in a winner. Finally in the 90th minute the visitors were caugh knapping when Gueye recieved a ground cross to slot the winner in injury time. This game still had more excitement to come with Baruffaldi being fouled on the edge of the area after the restart. Joel Grant thumped the free-kick low, but was denied by Tim Howard. Grant then whipped in a corner, but was cleared to safety and finally the whistle was blown. A disapointing result for Torquay who face 2nd placed Aston Villa at Villa Park in there next match.

DANIEL STURRIDGE SCORES IN HIS
DEBUT AGAINST CRUZEIRO!

In this match Corinthians totally dominated
and Laclau opened the scoring in the 14th
minute and with that goal he had scored
10 this season.Ferrando was next up to
score and he scored twice! Both in the
top right hand corner! Then Ramon scored.
In the 45th minute it was already 4-0
but Cruzeiro got a reducer.A pretty lucky
goal actually.De Haan was standing all wrong
Cloutier was pushed down in the heading duel.
In half time it was 4-1.Scoring opened again
in the 67th minute and the goal was from Evandro.
Sergei Meshkov, Jack Whitmore and Andoni Ferrando
walked off the pitch in the 75th minute as match
heroes.Ferrandos replacer was the new signing
Daniel Sturridge that made his debut in this
game and in the 86th minute he scored!
It was a brilliant goal in the top left hand corner.

FINAL SCORE:6-1

a São Paolo forward that headed
in a eaqualizer. It looked like it was to be

UEFA Champions League Group Stage

Gulls pull off first European victory

Brendby IF 0-3 Torquay Grant 50' Koslewski 54' Britton 90'

Torquay got off to the perfect start in their first Champions League campaign. Brendby IF made the visitors nervous early on with some attacking and creative passing and & crossing in the opening stages. Torquay couldn't find their rhythm in the first half as Brendby were content in taking a 0-0 scoreline at the break. Torquay were not happy with there scrappy and uneventful first half and wanted to improve their performance. This improvement came five minutes in the 2nd half as inspirational leader Joel Grant got the first goal on the board, getting around a defender hitting the ball into the corner. This sent Brendby IF into a state of shock as Koslewski scored 4 minutes later. Grant took a shot from about 30 yards which hit the crossbar and bounced back straight to Koslewski with the keeper still recovering from his save attempt on the previous shot. For the rest of the game Brendby lost their way as Torquay found the momentum that was lacking early in the match. Wade Britton added a third in the 90th minute striking a ball from just on the edge of the area which hit the post and rebounded into the net. After a poor first half showing, Torquay improved out of site in the 2nd half to record a convincing 3-0 win. They next meet SK Rapid Vien.

BARCA WINS FIRST GAME WITH 3-2

HENRY MAN OF THE MATCH WITH
TWO GOALS

Barca went out on this first season match against
Sevilla on Camp Nou. Henry scored his first goal in the 14th
minute and was highly celebrated. Then Barca had trouble,
or more correct, Valdés had trouble. He let in two goals in
13 minutes!First from Poulsen that he really easy should have
taken and the second on a slow header from Lúis Fabiano. But
Barca came againin the second half, and Valdés too.
Henry scored his second from a beutiful volley in the 48th
minute and was like a hero for all Camp Nou, exept the Sevilla side.
Ater that it was a slow game. But in the 76th minute Messi lays a wonderful
cross that Eto´o chilly takes on a nice volley.
Sevilla had some shots but Valdés saved them.

FINAL SCORE: 3-2
