Default Stadium manager upgrade?

I am in my first season with Newcastle United and I need to upgrade my stadium manager. I have 24million in the bank and stand to lose 4 million by the end of the year. It will cost me 17 mil to upgrade. Will I make up that money this season in ticket sales or how long will it take. Thanx.

Maybe if you win all the tournaments and the league, the prize money might be enough to cover.

I personally feel that the price for this particular upgrade is insane. You will never make up that amount you stand to lose only by the increased ticket sales, you will not even come close.
At later levels, you lose close to 60-80million to upgrade and that is insane too.
If this is a part of your expectation, you will lose I think 750 points for this, and if you satisfy all other expectations, you might still make it to the next manager level. So wait till the end of the season and see how you fare with the other expectations and then decide.

I never ever upgraded my stadium manager till I was in my 10th season and I became a level 10 manager in the 6th season so was happy with that.

Define 'need'. Do you have a board expectation or are you simply looking to make more money from ticket sales?? If the former then you have to decide whether to simply bite the bullet in order to fulfill the expectation or that you cannot afford the upgrade (see below) and prefer to take the 1500 point hit to your manager prestige.

Easiest way to work that out, having saved your manager mode, is to use the Financial Prediction screen in the Office menu. Cycle through the ticket prices making a note of how much money you are slated to make from ticket sales betwen now and the end of the year. Upgrade the stadium and then revisit the Financial Prediction screen to see how much your income increases. Under normal circumstances, and assuming maximum fan support, the number you will be interested in is the difference between the revenues on High, but I have seen instances where Medium prices yield a better return after an upgrade than the High prices before it (but normally only with a lower fan support). If you don't like the numbers then simply revert to the saved game (in the real world this is called forecasting!!)

My own experience suggests that the stadium manager upgrades up to level 7 or 8 can be justified by increased ticket revenue (as long as you don't make the jump too early, especially with a lower league team whose support simply won't be able to fill the larger capacity) but that levels 9 and 10 are unlikely to pay their way within the period of your manager's career.
