CrayonFace, she said why! It's a good idea.

i'd suggest making the graphics forum a creations forum for anything, including websites.

I don't think that rule killed the forum though, it was already dead... and the bad sites were like worms crawling over it's remains.

If you guys are keen to advertise your websites, why don't you go to a forum where you are allowed to advertise?

Surely that's the easiest way round it?

i'm not so sure it's that people want to advertise it, they want to show people at tsuk what they've been doing - same with anyone who does graphics work.

It wouldn't feel right to join a forum with the intentions of advertising. I've seen it done here, it's always blatantly obvious and off-putting.

I should be able to let people, some I have known for over 5 years, know about something nice and new that I've developed, should I not?

The total lack of support for fansite owners over the past year or so has probably done more to damage this forum than the pointless rule change, of course.

Shame.

No you should not, muahahahhaha

It all depends on how the situation is looked upon I suppose. Looking at it like you mentioned above, then I am all for it. Looking at it from an advertising perspective, then I'm against it.

A bit of a grey area, really.

I know i've posted non EA sites here to advertise them, it's hardly advertising though - it's pretty much letting your friends know you launched a site. You'll not gain many more members by advertising here, honeslty.

So it should be fine to "advertise" non-EA fansites in the Off Topic forum, right?

Confirmation please, EAUK_Someone.

I think they'd be more fitting in a creations forum, but thats just me.

Though i don't see a problem with off topic, people post non EA links there all the time

I actually agree with you, Speshal, Dbuggy and such on this one. It's pretty pointless having a fansite forum that doesn't allow sites to be posted if they aren't about EA. If we are allowed to show off our creations in our own threads that aren't related to EA then why not websites?

The only reason the rule was enforced was because of people creating "Free forums" spamming the place up. Which is stupid because these were actually related to EA's games. And now it's just created more trouble because people aren't allowed to share their website creations with others, and the community is supposed to be about achievments and such. Infact why not just ban every un-related EA topic because it has nothing to do with EA. It would be so much easier to create a rule like, No free forums or such. Though that would come a little harsh but it would work

The old forums had a no advertising rule but people were still allowed to post update threads on their sites then.

I've now run out of things to say.

These freely-hosted-created-in-an-hour forums never actually become anything. Why not just ban these? They're usually lazy EA-clones, with which no effort has been taken. Who actually cares about them?

However, there is no reason why decent sites, with plenty of content shouldn't be allowed advertised. We wouldn't all bombard you with our glittery Piczo sites. All we need is quality control and everybody would be happy.

Maybe someone could create an EA fansite, with a links page linking to all the non-EA fansites?

Thinking outside the box there
