So, in my summer holiday boredom I decided to follow one sim through from birth to death, and document it all.
Constructive critique of writing or sim photos is placed on a pedestal and worshipped. I’m really unsure of the style I’m writing this in; I’ve always found prolonged writing in first person a bit tricky. This is me also trying to be deep. I've probably gone a bit Adrian Mole on you. There was never yet an uninteresting life. Such a thing is an impossibility. Inside of the dullest exterior there is a drama, a comedy and a tragedy. - Mark Twain Life is to be lived, not controlled, and humanity is won by continuing to play in face of certain defeat. - Ralph Ellison In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on. - Robert Frost And so, I present: A Life Truly Lived ![]() Episode 1 - Link Last edited by MizVoldemort; 02-08-2008 at 12:18 AM.. |

I suppose when you think about it there are a lot of people who have been born on Friday the 13th. One tends to think of it as a special date. If you’re born on Friday the 13th then somehow you must be different from those born on Thursday the 12th, or Saturday the 14th. In reality it is just another day.
I am one of those people born on Friday the 13th. And before you ask, yes, parts of my life have been unlucky. I have suffered in my lifetime. But so does everyone. Suffering is life. I was born during one of those summer storms that tear through the heavy air, thundering and howling. The kind that left such a still tranquillity in their wake that no one visiting the area could even imagine that a short time ago blustering winds had been buffeting the houses for all their worth. ![]() Myself, a few hours after I was born My father was not present at my birth. He was at work, trying to uphold our fairly lavish lifestyle. We were by no means rich, but my parents earned enough to live comfortably enough. There was usually enough money left over after paying the bills to afford a small luxury. The house was by no means huge, but it was spacious, and had an open modern feel to it. My parents were comfortable was. ![]() My house - it looks smaller than it was, due to a large basement ![]() My father, Stephen ![]() ![]() My mother, Rebecca Then we were born. Yes, we. I was one of two. The elder of a set of twins. Others would fawn over us. The novelty of twins never seemed to fade. They would tell my parents how fortunate and blessed they were to have both of us. Unfortunately, in my household twins caused more strife then joy. ![]() Myself and my twin ![]() A photograph of Parsley as a newborn child Financially we were a great strain on our parents. Small luxuries were no longer available, not with two mouths to feed. Mother and father had savings, of course, but as the bills stacked up it became obvious that there was only enough money for one child to live in the comfort they were used to. Father had grown up in an underprivileged family. He knew how hard it was for a child to grow up knowing that everyone else had better clothes and toys. He had been bullied for his home-knitted jumpers, and patched clothes as a child, and he desperately didn’t want that for us. So he started working overtime to earn just that little bit more. Maybe even try for that promotion! Later on in life I realised that we were most likely resented for this. My parents had not been ready for the reality of two small children imposing on their perfect little life. |

I'm sorry for this late reply, but I never really took a look at this part of the forums before! It's an amazing story, too bad it's just one part! I wished to read more!
Makes me feel like writing again! Thanks for all the inspiration, I had a bit of a writers block today!
