Default Black Screen Problem

Guys

I am going crazy here, I downloaded this game from Direct2Drive, installed etc. When I launch the game I get the sound but no pictures, just black screen. I have updated all drivers, including video, sound & mobo, I have no firewall in operation, I have no gamepad or joystick installed.

I have tried this on both Win XP SP3 and Win 7 RC (even in compatibility mode) and it is exactly the same on both Os.

I am so mad, I have been trying now since Saturday to get this damn game to run, I never have a problem with any other game. Someone please help.

I have the same problem but posted my problem at No video, only sound when launching Dead Space - Dead Space Technical Help - Dead Space: EA Forums

Why 2 Dead space forums?

I also email EA support, advise you all to do the same to put some pressure on EA for a patch for the game.

hi.

i had that too. it was my firewall stopping DS accessing the net. it was zonealarm. i first changed it to game mode which worked then allowed access for the DS client which was safer.

I only use a MS Windows firewall and Dead Space is allowed internet access.
But I also have a D-Link DIR-655 router, but forwarding ports on my router should only be necessary if game needs to run as a server.
