Default Gamepad configuration

As found in the readme file:

Game Pad Configuration
----------------
For game pads which do not exhibit correct behavior, a custom configuration can be used to specify the actions that each button and joystick should be associated with. The file must be called joypad.txt and be located in ‘My Documents\Electronic Arts\Dead Space’. An example file is located in that directory named joypad_example.txt. You can use this file by renaming it to joypad.txt.

In order to change the behavior of your game pad, you will need to change the value for the button and joystick axis entries. In order to find the correct values for these entries, first navigate to the ‘Game Controllers’ item in Control Panel with the game pad connected to the computer. Next select the game pad from the ‘Installed game controllers’ list and click the ‘Properties’ button. The Properties window should be displayed which will allow you to determine what the number of each of your game pads buttons is as well as the name of each of the joystick axes.

Buttons must be assigned a value of ‘Button.#’ where # is the number of the button.
For joystick axes, they must be assigned a value from the following list:
X-Axis
Y-Axis
Z-Axis
Z-Rotation
Throttle
Rudder
X-Axis.Inverted
Y-Axis.Inverted
Z-Axis.Inverted
Z-Rotation.Inverted
Throttle.Inverted
Rudder.Inverted
This list corresponds to the common axes that are used by game pads, as well a variant of each axis which is flipped or inverted.

After setting each of the button and joystick axis values, and renaming the file joypad.txt, when you start Dead Space the configuration will be loaded. If a mistake has been made and the value of any of the buttons or joystick axes isn’t recognized, that button or joystick axis will do nothing in game.

If you still have problems, try using a program like xpadder (download). It will make your joypad inputs become keyboard and mouse inputs. I've used my 360 controller for several non-joypad compatible games with it.

Default Logitech cordless rumblepad 2?

Will this work with logitech gamepad. I can't find the name of the buttons in properties as described.
Feedback on any experience with this gamepad would be nice as I can't get it to work

Indeed Jarri...

Actually just tried this about 5 times.

did nothing at all to the controls... even when I reversed X and Y!

Will try this Xpadder thing if I have to, but dont understand why this config's not recognised like it says!

Did anyone else get it working?

How do I do if I want the Xbox 360 gamepad configuration just as 360 owners get them? Why doesn´t dead space detect my controller so I either get the default 360 controls or can configure. Having the 360 controls as a guide would help with mappings as well. Do the combo pushes even work when using a gamepad on the PC version

I'm using a SIXAXIS controller;
By default the controls are pretty screwy

I'm using the joypad.txt to fix this, but even when I map Triangle, Square, X, and Circle to Pad.RightDPad.* , they work as up, down, left, right..

the actual D-Pad doesn't do anything... any suggestions?

Joysticks + Shoulder buttons working 100% fine.

I edit joypad.txt, but it seems to simply not be loaded. As the tutorial still sticks to keyboad&mouse, I'm guessing Dead Space is not recognizing the joypad, and thus not loading joypad.txt. And then it goes right ahead and accepts the joypad input! Which would be mostly fine, if not for the right stick axis problem.

new thing for daed space. a new wiew mode.. the mode over the shulder is no good. must be 1 wiew or 3 wiew... atleas the option to change wiew position. this is the only game whit no cheats. shoud make a new versjon whit the ability to cheat... make and upgrade whit the standard cheat modes. GODLIKE/IMORTAL. unlimited ammo. and more guns

None of my friends like the game. keep to the standard game making. dont start making new commands and key funktions. all other games have a standard use for game. but this game have one all to him self. the wiew is bad. the keys are all wrong. even the mouse use is bad. point one way and he goes the other way. atleast have the invert mouse and Y invert so one can change it to its liking
