Hi guys,
First and foremost, i've been looking forward to Dead Space for a LONG time, and i have to say the game in general does not dissapoint. However, for me there's one big problem! The controls and the mouse! I'm playing the game on the PC, and the biggest issue i have is with the mouse. It feels very sluggish (naturally i've turned VSync off), especially in aiming mode, where it feels like there is some sort of 'deadzone' applied to the mouse input. For example, unless you move your mouse at a certain speed, the game does not detect that it has moved at all ... so moving the mouse slowly does not cause issac to aim his gun whatsoever. It's also seen outside of aiming mode, but it's a bit more manageable because you're not trying to shoot anything ... I'm not sure whether this is something that's been added intentionally, but if it hasn't, please fix it! If this is a feature of the game, please give us the option to turn it off. It's a shame, because every other facet of the game is fantastic. I won't be playing it until we hopefully get this changed in a patch, not through anger, spite or any sort of vindictive hatred towards EA, but simply because i want to enjoy this great game to the full

Playing on PS3, on Hard, and WAS loving the game. That is, until Chapter 9, where Hammond has just died, I've killed the Brute, and am now trying to evacuate. Except, at the second of the smaller doors you come to, it wants to me to put a power block thing in the socket to open the door, but there just isn't one anywhere. None to be found anywhere. What's more, you are trapped in ahallway as the door behind you locks itself. I've even tried loading my last save and backtracking before entering the engine room - I found a power cell thing in a door, but an invisible wall stopped me from taking it to the problematic location. I am literally stuck and can't progress through the game any further.
Have looked on the internet and others have the same problem, whereas other people have just gone straight through, so it must be a glitch. Please, sort this out - do a patch or something - or the experience will be ruined for me and many others. I have and will be patient but if this isn't rectified then I will be expecting a refund. Thanks. Last edited by letdown91; 26-10-2008 at 03:43 PM.. |

I was Wondering... if there is a patch for the PC tribe that you'll add achievements to the game to give it some replay value at all ??? Just a through cause at the moment i belive it's only WoW and WAR that have any achievement system in it and it really does make the game abit more addictive...

Apologies to refer back to a post a whole 15 hours old, but I finally beat the irritating Asteroids game and agree with McGoff that it's a great relief (saved immediately after - didn't want to have to do that twice!) and that later chapters (I'm on Chap.10 currently) are better and better. I thought the big problem to solve in Chap.7 especially imaginative and amusing. Returning to the ADS cannon in Chap.8 was initially a horror but proved a lot more like fun than the evil Asteroids game - more what it *should* have been as a playing experience. I guess the Lovecraftian look of the Necromorphs goes back to John Carpenter's 'Thing' remake--the dividers and revolting boss ending Chap.6 especially--and this is especially appreciated by an HPL nut like me....

Game looks nice, but pretty much unplayable due to dodgy controls, I've been playing fps games on the pc since they were first invented, and i have never used wasd and i am not going to re-learn after 20 years of using the curser keys, never mind that you cant even map the mouse properly either.
The game constanly crashes during the intro , normally takes a half dozen trys just to get the game started. Tried all the normal fixes, different frivers etc. Think this will be going back for a refund until it finaly gets finished

Hiya Guys...
I have been waiting to play Dead Space on Xbox 360 for almost a year now, ever since I first saw the teaser trailer on marketplace. Since then ive been looking out for the animated comics, more trailers etc...this game is truly spectacular!! ![]() Im the sort of person who can watch horror films all day long and never feels scared or jump out of my seat or anything of the sort...but this game changes all that. Im only onto level 9 at the moment and already it has surpassed any expectations I had. I already knew this was going to be an amazing game but I never thought it would be this good. ![]() Consider me one very happy and satisfied gamer, with no qualms or downers about the game whatsoever. ![]() Nice one guys...as long as you can keep this level of production output up in the future...the world is yours. P.S. If at all possible, can you send me a new pair of undies coz I appear to have filled mine with poo!!

When you release a game for the PC remember that pc gamers use mouse +kb controls and like it that way. Make your game work smoothly with these imput methods otherwise you and your game will get flak because of it. We game on the pc, we have no use for gamepads, like our games smooth and responsive.

I initially had problems with the controls on PC (due to other controllers being plugged in and messing with it) - but after that I have to say I've had no mouse troubles whatsoever
Awesome game, graphics etc and I've played for the most hours straight I ever have on a game. Being able to dictate the controls yourself for PC users would be handy tho.

Couldn't agree more - he's wound me up something proper! PS3 player here and I'm loving it. It's properly tense, makes you feel uncomfortable and I'm creeping carefully into every room, instead of just running in. Only got a PS3 recently, but so far this is my favourite game.

Hello Redwoods
![]() Dead Space is awesome! It's the most remarkable Sci-Fi adventure in Aliens' spirit! The gameplay is very addictive and very well balanced- the enemies and conditions are tough but the Isaac never feels underpowered thankfully to the suit and the innovative 'toys' (=weapons). Little nice touches (like 'alien' graffitti, half-alive people in 'hidden' areas, logs, etc) make me wonder around and explore as much as possible (and if possible:P). Visual designs are jaw dropping! Lighting, level designs, sounds (the silent praying of a woman- fantastic idea!)- everything's so inspired! Awesome, awesome piece of art, Redwoods! I will share my full opinion when I finish the adventure (now I'm in the mid of 5th chapter). I'm playing it on PS3 and it runs perfectly- never crashed (not like Army of Two) and no other technical complains. Thank you for this amazing experience! I'm already looking forward for the sequel! P.S. In fact, I've started building a fansite- Dead Space is so inspiring!

Firstly I would like to say survival horror is DEAD! But now dead space has come along it has revived it as a necromorph! XD This game ruled! I loved everything about it!. I absolutely loved the shooting bits and the puzzles were so original and cool! It was also nice that all of the mission objectives were quite different and that the zero g provided a new prospective! Also I loved the story and chapter 7,8 and 12 blew my mind away! I personally think this game is as good as Silent hill (Which is the best game ever) Finaly I would just like to say well done to EA for making a new entry to the survival horror genre and beating the hell out of the opponents!
Dead space = Best game ever alongside silent hill!

Gongratulations!!! That's all i can say. I am playing it on ps3 and it's the best action game for the console so far. I am a fan of the movies the game is based on and i must say you've done a superb job.
Everything is working and the game never gets dull or boring. I 've downloaded the suits from psn store and would like more content. I am already a dead space fanatic. Give us more downloads. Isaac's suits are really coool. Oh and the controls are excellent. I am a difficult customer believe me but i can't find anything wrong with dead space. The only thing is that i would like a special edition (metal box e.t.c). Anyway till now the perfect game for me. Keep up the good work. |

Thanks for the continued feedback
![]() Glad to hear that there are some of you who are really enjoying Dead Space. Do you find it scary at all or not scary enough? ![]() As I said previously, I am sorry to those of you who are experiencing problems, particularly with the control issues and your frustrations will be passed on.

okay, my feedback (PC Version DX10 card)
I didn't find the controls too hard to move but the mouse responsibility has been jacked up to make mouse look effective but this has the effect of making all the menus incredibly hard to use. The over the shoulder view does take some getting used to but its not too bad after a while. I did have some problems with the weapon select which does appear to have been designed round the d-pad on the 360 controller - when I bought a second weapon it didn't get mapped to key 2 it got mapped to key 3 - the third weapon I bought got mapped to key 4 and the forth weapon finally got mapped to key 2. The manual was absolutely no help in this. Graphically the game looks fantastic - the rooms are varied, lit suitably atmospherically and I was really impressed about things like the holographic displays - although I'm worried that Vista Aero has made it into space in the future ! As for scariness, the game does well at building atmosphere with clanking pipes, some odd whispering in the toilet (unfortunately not along the lines of "pass me the toilet paper!") and good lighting effects - the monsters aren't really that scary and you kind of expect their presence when you walk into an empty room with lots of vents. The tenticles are the only real thing that made me jump. Yes, the asteriods game is complete bobbins and with the jacked up mouse response almost impossible to play. I do consider this game just to be the plot from system shock 2 dumped onto a doom 3 engine but that doesn't make it enjoyable to play Overall the game is fun if you persivere with the odd camera angle and controls |

To me, Dead Space is the biggest (positive) surprise of 2008. A master piece; and easily could be the winner of many 'Game of the Year' titles! I'm so surprised that I didn't hear more about this game before the release date; it's just kind of came out of the blue.
The comic and the cartoon is also top notch. It is obvious that this game was developed with the greatest care and I, as a gamer, really appreciate that. I like Dead Space so much, that I decided to buy the Ultra Limited Edition as well, I just cannot find the game in the European store. ![]() Sincerely, - R. Edit: I read through the comments and I think I need to add that I play it on the 360; so, I have no control problems whatsoever (I gave up playing on the PC for a long time). The console version of the game is perfect; 10 out of 10! GotY! Last edited by Rince-Art; 27-10-2008 at 02:15 PM.. |

I'm through! What a great game!! This is a real masterpiece!!
A Great story and game mechanic! No crashes, no bugs, very good balanced!! It felt like I was realy on that ship! Only the stearing could be more defined. But I think a small patch will fix this issue. ![]() In past I though that system shock 2 is not reachable, but now dead space advances on the summit! It will be hard to make a better game in this class. ![]() Big thanks to the game designers, programmers and developer! I had much fun!! ![]() Best regards, Marc |

I played abit more at my friends this morning, much further on towards chapter 9 through to 11.
Not scary enough Needs to take the focus off locking people in rooms and giving them a bunch of tough opponents, sure it enduces fear but its not the right type IMO, its more panic than fear. Psychological stuff could have been exploited more, after all wasnt the marker was meant to make people go crazy? I think for a sequel they should make it more freeroam, i.e you can go most places in the ship/colony (assuming a sequel uses a ship/colony) locking out set areas until set points i.e getting keycards, but it shouldn't be done in a way thats too linear.

I'd say I jumped more on this game then anyother of film I have watched. My only problem with the game and its something the developers should have thought about, they should have provided uni-sex underware! with the game. |

Now that I got my mouse working and full screen I can really say that I DO NOT enjoy this game. Not in the terms of game quality but overall; I didn't sleep well last night and when I did, all I saw was freaking necromorph nightmares! Jesus. Last night was probably the worst night I've ever experienced. So, EA, good job on terryfying my *** up.
I played it til the 5th chapter. Not going to play anymore. Oh and by the way the mouse and keyboard settings are just fine. The sluggish mouse just gives you a more desperate feeling. Really fits in the games atmosphere. Don't know about the forthcoming chapters. |
