This game looks great so far, I was wondering if the developers might consider the following:
-It would be great if the player at some point in the game, would need to go on the outside of the ship, in order to maybe repair something. In doing so, the player would need to put on another space suit with a large dome like helmet with lights on the side of the helmet. I think this could bring another element of fear to the game as the more damage you take, the helmet could crack and the longer you stay in the vacuum of space, the more you could decompress. -Also to add the choice of first person in some levels. perhaps just to toggle to first person if the player had the new space suit just to look about. Like left stick moves the players head about and the right stick actually moves the players head inside the helmet where you can see cracks forming if you take too much damage as well as blood splatters on the helmet visor along with the sound of the players heavy breathing. I think this would add a level of claustrophobia in some levels. Perhaps when in first person, the player cant walk about but can only use first person to look about when looking for certain things thus it does not take away from the third person view. What do you think? Last edited by RavenZen; 24-06-2008 at 09:41 AM. |

Well, there's already moments in Dead Space where Isaac goes outside the ship in the RIG suit, so I don't think they'll be adding that idea in since its already there.
I like the second idea a lot though. I've been thinking to myself if this game has a first person view zoom function, and your description makes me want one more. The only thing I'd change is that you should be able to choose it whenever you want throughout the game. Apart from that, its a perfect and fitting idea. I've got a few small suggestions as well. Nothing drastic so it should be easy for Redwood Shores to add them. But it would be nice to have them. - If possible, I'd like to see some sixaxis implementation in the PS3 version. Personally, I do think the sixaxis is a gimmic, but whenever I see gameplay of Isaac being grabbed or covered in those creatures from a pregnant I always think of the menials in Resistance: Fall of Man. They're extremely lame enemies, but it's so tense and horrifying trying to shake them off with the controller instead of button mashing. So, if possible, I'd like to see that put in Dead Space as well (Although you could still leave the button option as well in the controls set up menu). I'd love to see that added into Dead Space. They should really shoot for as many opportunities as possible to heighten the tension and stress, and thats just one of them. - Ability to side jump. I know Isaac is in a heavy suit, and his slow movement also creates fear in itself which is what I think you guys at Redwood are aiming for. But in the gameplay videos there does seem to be parts where you have no choice but to get unfairly swarmed by 5 Necromorphs. I'm not talking about adding a barrel roll function like a marine, but more of a quick side jump out of the way. Something practical. And, to make sure it doesn't turn into a cheap gameplay move, you could make it so there's a slight pause after he performs it. That way if you do choose to do it, you better be careful you don't jump in the wrong direction and get mowed down by more Necromorphs. - Add this scream effect (YouTube - Fast Zombie Yell uncovered). Honestly, how can that not want to make you crap yourself? lol Thats all for now. Good luck on the game. |
