Yea i think alot of game's should give you the option for 3rd to 1st person (something most future games should do hint hint) but i dont think dead space will have that and i like 3rd person better, at least for consoles anyway but whatever the case im getting this game.

I'm not sure whether Dead Space will have both views, but I agree that it would be brilliant to be able to choose between the two!
This is a great suggestion and I'll make sure to pass it on to the development team for you. Phenom P.S. I think I prefer the TP view, too, but I'd love to be able to experience the game from both points of view! |

i'm with yoda, although i'd have to say it would make sense to include the first-person view if time allows. they seem to be going with a more resident evil 4 approach that seems fitting because you'll likely get pounced on from all angles so it would be more functional to be able to see what is attacking you and from where. that and the fact that the hud is on isaac's back so they'd have to create one for the other perspective which they likely don't want to do because it is their belief (and mine) that hud's take away from the immersion. So it goes both ways because first-person can, in many ways, be more immersive but it doesn't seem to be the case for this particular games design.

That's a good point about the HUD, gamedaddy - although I imagine a HUD would be 'easy' to incorporate into a space suit in a believable way. I'm with you about HUD's and other on-screen indicators spoiling the immersion, though. What does everyone else think about this?
It's nice to see all your opinions on these topics, ladies and gentlemen! Keep posting your comments and I'll keep passing them on to the developers. ![]() Phenom |

I like the screen to be as clean as possible. GTA IV's is great because most of the time the only element of a HUD on the screen is the minimap. The old Resident Evil games had nothing at all.
Whereas when I played the Frontlines:Fuel of War demos there was so much crap everywhere that I could hardly see. Team Fortress 2 gets cluttered with stuff all over the screen sometimes too. I can't understand why they insist on making nametags appear in the center of the screen in a big coloured box. The worst part of the game is it's HUD. Otherwise it's excellent. As far as i'm concerned, the less HUD the better. If Dead Space has none whatsoever, and some indicators on his suit then that suits me perfectly . If they could do the same on a first person view (which, by just putting stuff on his gun instead, would be very easy) then i'd be fine with that as well.Another thing, games these days have HUD's that are built around HDTV's. For most gamers, they appear tiny and hard to see/read. Something to take into account. Last edited by Spidery Yoda; 28-05-2008 at 06:54 PM. |
