I've just benched the leaked 171.16 betas using the Crysis benchmark utility and I got 5 extra FPS! My settings were all on high apart from Textures, object quality and shaders which were on medium, I also had 2xAA. Normally I'd get an 'average' of 33fps on the gpu benchmark. This new beta gave me an average of 38.5fps!
You can link through here: NVIDIA Forums -> Forceware 171.16 Vista 32 and XP 32 is out! (XP is there too but not sure if they're giving the same improvement. I've also read that a further driver, 173.61, gives even better results but as of yet no link has been given or they've not been leaked yet. The article is here: VR-Zone : Technology Beats - NVIDIA Forceware Vista Beta Drivers Preview

LaptopVideo2Go & NVIDIA Related News You'll find the 171.16 for a laptop. As far as I'm aware Graphic drivers don't have to come from Dell as long as the drivers been tweaked for laptops you should be ok. Keep this site in your favourites as its one of the better ones for laptop drivers. Here is a more direct link to the driver, just scroll down and click on where it says driver:v171.16 Vista 32bit | - nVision I've been using these drivers to play other games and have found no problems as of yet, I just had to check with them being betas. As soon as I find or hear about the link for the 173s I'll let you know.

Ok I think I've sorted it...
It seems to use these drivers you have to replace whats called the 'inf' with one thats been modified. You'll notice on the download page above that there's a link for the driver and then next to it in green letters is the inf link. Next to that is a link to a quick guide to get you through the install process. I did copy a small section and I'll paste it here:Basically it's a 3-step process: 1. Download driver, double click and select extract, 2. Download modded INF and replace original INF in extracted folder, 3. Install & reboot. When you open a driver thread, you will see several links like ![]() ![]() For example, if you choose 84.25 driver to install, driver file will be 8425.exe and when extracted it should create another folder named 8425. Next step is getting the Modded INF and replacing the old one. Click on the Modded INF link to download the file. If file opens instead of downloading go back, right click the link and choose 'Save target as...' or 'Save link as' options. Now it should ask where to download the file. Select the 8425 folder. If you did it right, there should be a file replacement confirmation dialogue. Replace the file and you are now ready to install the driver. Hopefully this will allow you to use the drivers. Let me know how you get on..Good luck Just to add, I did try the links and they work.. So just download the driver, extract it to a folder. Then download the inf and use that to replace the one in the driver (which your going to have to find). You should then be able to install the driver in the normal way.

Did you un-install the previous driver? Also some users are not seeing any increase but it's strange how the new drivers aren't being picked up.

Cool... Well the next driver 173 is supposed to be even better but it's great you got at least some improvement.

And others opinions on how they perform - Forceware 171.16 or 173.61?? - Guru3D.com Forums Theyre definately worth a try if you havnt finished crysis, otherwise id just wait until full release which should be soon. The 173.61 drivers are the ones to watch for though
