Default GTX295 V GTX280 new video gameplay

I compared 2 graphics cards, The GTX295 and the GTX280, The GTX295 wins but the GTX280 feels better, smoother somehow, check out the gameplay of my GTX280 here

ATI cards are good on paper but their drivers are awful, not to mention nvidia uses graphics cards for physx now and AMD refuse nvidia help to get it working on ATI cards.

I think your mistaken. I don't even know why your comparing the Nvidia GTX 295 with the 280. The GTX 280 is well outdated by now, newer graphics cards have already come in the market to outblast the GTX 280. It is more inferior than the ATI Radeon HD 4890 and costs £300+!

The Ati Radeon 4890 also has physics for example. And to knock you back off I could say the same, the latest ATI Radeon HD 4800 series cards have 4.1 pixel and vertex shaders as well as DirectX 10.1 which the new game Tom Clancys Hawx supports DX 10.1.

Sad for Nvidia that they only have DX 10 and 4.0 Pixel/Vertax shader pretty sad really but unfortunetly there can only be one winner.

my guess is you own an ati card lol, Its a known fact that Nvidia cards fun much better in CRYSIS, the The Ati Radeons top single GPU 4890 you refer to is pritty much the same as the GTX260 in crysis, there for the GTX280 errm, is Better, The GTX285 even better!

I did the perfornance review of 295 x 280 because i hade them both and had to decide which to keep, The 295 was a little faster yes but only a little apart from vista DX10 and very high!, BUT what im saying is that although the 295 had higher FPS most of the time, The 280 felt much smoother and clearer, and less noisy, Less money, and the fact that is a single GPU made it the winner for me!,

I just dont like sli, a single card set up is miles better, I will upgrade once the GTX380 comes out!

Hmmm, yeah I don't have the ati card yet. At the moment I use the Nvidia GeForce 8600GT card that sucks lol. But 3 days ago I ordered the Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4890 OC Edition!! Should arrive by post in 5-10 days.

I felt like this was the best choice because GTX 280 and 285 cost £300+ so this for me didn't sound very wise to spash the cash. And I feel like I have made a great decision because I will definitely see an enormous difference from the 4890 OC when compared to the crappy Nvidia 8600GT.

Plus I looked here in youtube video that the Sapphire ATI 4890 destroyed the Nvidia cards benchmarks in the game called Fallout 3 game of the year!YouTube - Sapphire Radeon HD 4890 Video Card

Looking at the benchmark comparisons the 4890 beats GTX 260 in all FPS scorlines.
However, note down the price this is a big factor. Although I can afford the GTX 285, etc but I feel as though this is irrational to spash so much cash when you do realise that in 2-4 years I will have to upgrade my GPU again.

I agree with you if you go by bang for buck NEW, But did you know you can actually pick up a GTX280 OC2 which is near a 285 speed for less than 200 on ebay!, Which is cheaper than a new 4890 OC

The reason Why the GTX280 is just the perfect card for me is because on Crysis high 1680x1050 i get just short of 60FPS average, which is how i like to play, anything less feels sluggish and dont look as good(when you are moving lol) , If you like to play fast with a lot of movements and explosions, The extra power of the GTX280 is perfect, and feels more stable which is why i favour it to the dual sli card GTX295

Yes, indeed the GTX 285 is a much better graphics card than what I just bought.
However, I have done a lot of researching over the past few months from toms hardware, to duxcw, to annands tech, etc, etc Before making my decision.

I even searched for GTX 285 GTX 285 OC2, Computing items at low prices on eBay.co.uk All of them are £300+. Saw one that was £232.59 as you can see but that needs postal and package an extra £42.84!

The cheapest GTX 280 I could find is £200 however most of these are used. I could see Condition: Used. So I know exactly what I was looking after. Searched play.com, amazon, even pcworld lol. And to be honest that was the best deal I could find a brand new overclocked 4890 card for only £180.gtx 280, Computing, gtx 260, gtx 295 items at low prices on eBay.co.uk
So I don't think its true that you could buy a graphics card like the GTX 280 OC2 for only £200 I would find it extremely fishy as to why would someone sell it so cheap?!

Previously I have been really stingy with graphics card due to pricing bought my 8600GT for £45 lol. However this time I decided not to be stingy as it would be a big mistake.

I was even advised to buy the HD 4870 from one of my friend as he uses it, it was even cheaper about £124 from ebay. But I told myself "forget it" I won't be stingy this time and I will buy a slightly more expensive card.

lol fair enough, Well your new ATI HD card will easily beat your 8600GT, i have that 8600GT in my lappy and it really is pants lol, Good for BF2 though i suppose,

Going from a 8600GT to the ATI HD 4890 is almost like going from a PS1 to a PS3 lol

I cant wait for the GTX380, suppose to be exactly double the GTX280, That would effectivly play crysis at 60FPS on very high with high resolutions easily, Nvidia have nearly caught Cryteks futureproof game up lol, What else are Crytek gunna through at us now, The next stage i suppose will be like a game with HD photorealistic graphics!, just goes to show we are almost there!

You never know lol CRYSIS 2 VERY HIGH PHOTO REALISTIC MODE

Yeah I also heard from other people too saying similar things lol. Its a massive difference between the 2 cards.
And I am very excited at the moment can't wait to get my hands on it! Especially now for the holidays, I will be playing Crysis all day on my PC no more homework from my uni to do

Yeah I too am waiting for Crysis 2 and hoping for Assassins Creed 2 to come this will be damn exciting to play has an amazing sequel.

Yeah maybe photorealistic would be brilliant I suppose. But who knows?
I mean I would be extremely delighted if the gameplays improved more enemies and coastal islands would be really spicing the game up.

No doubt the PC is better for gaming. That's why I chose to upgrade to a new GPU instead of buying a PS3 console.

Yep you made the right decision, although it be nice to play crysis in your front room slouched on yer couch, I wonder what it looks like on the ps3 when its out , suppose it be like low to medium on a pc as a comparison

Yeah that would be nice. I've got my PC in my bedroom so I enjoy it here, nice and quiet.
Although I may try hooking my PC to my 32 inch HD TV and see how great the picture is that would be like playing on a console.

I think if Crysis is released on PS3 then PS3 gamers will learn from their lessons to respect the PC gamers, hehehe.

Cos when they compare their crysis version on their console toys to the PC I bet they'll feel the jealousy I just can't wait to see that happen. Those cocky console users think their toys can beat the PC, I hope they're gonna taste the pain!

Crysis will definitely be better on the PC compared to the consoles and always will be because by the time PS4 comes out the graphics card on PC will still be way ahead of them.
If you check out the tomb raider underworld forums you'll see ps3 gamers are jealous and saying "why is TRU better on the PC"!

haha can't wait for that day when Crysis will be released on consoles, those consoles gamers will then know how great it is, and it will become even more popular.

I used to have two GTX260 Golden Sample's in SLI. I was able to play Crysis at 1920x1080 with 4x AA/vsync on/DX10 at 37min 57average fps.

I sold my two GTX 260's and bought a GTX295 so it would take up less space in my machine and create less heat because heat kept on frying my soundcard.

Well, the soundcard is fine but i did suffer a small performance drop in fps. I think this is due to the GTX295 having less vRAM than two GTX260's. Now i have to run the game at 1920x1080/DX10/vsync on but with only 2xAA to get the same fps as i did with the GTX260's.

Oh well, at least i dont have the heat problem anymore. Can't wait for the GTX380!
