Hey, welcome to the forums.
There is currently, no word, on an EA cricket game being released, or developed for that matter at the moment.

However, Codemasters has Ashes 2009 coming out in July.

No, Ashes 09. It is a Codemasters title, not EA.

Apparently, Ashes will be a fully revamped Cricket game.
I wouldn't write it off yet (considering its predecessors).
It looks good so far, just hoping it is a lot better than 07.

take a look at the newest graphics on CricketGaming.net, pietersen features in most of them, he looks good with a helmet on but not without and strauss looks dreadful from side on! Ponting is looking pretty good though!

Well, It is Codemasters, they aren't up to the standards of EA graphics when it comes to sport games unfortunately.
I'm glad they are incorporating a player edit system into it. So you can change your players 'wrong names'.
Tbh though, i may skip this title, because I think it will lack depth. The only game mode worth playing will be the Ashes.

That is Trines Cricket 10.
Trines is a small game dev company.
Rumour has it that they are working with EA, but of course, no official word as of yet.

Yeah that's just a patch made by people from PlanetCricket, nothing official.

When it comes to the Trine game, I was convinced that due to the name Trine Cricket '10' it was EA because EA this year are releasing all sports games with the title '10'. However, after seeing some screenshots, I'm not so sure as they look way too cartoony and in recent years EA have pushed to make all characters in their sports games to look as human as possible. Anyone agree?

Hmm... that is true but if Trine are just releasing it under the EA name then surely ythe players are less likely to look like "EA Sports players" and also these are only 1st screenshots so it can be changed but i see your point and it does worry me slightly.

Cricket 10 should have been released by now.

Probably now we will see one near next ashes, anything else might just be hard to bother the EA people. That makes it EA Sports Cricket 11 or just suprisingly to add compettition to Ashes Cricket 09 by Codemasters they might be planning to release one later this year.

As per my idea of what has been happening, for the past 4 to 5 months of rumors of a new cricket game, EA might be keeping this as a secret to end rumors for now,and stop the leakage of info, that a cricket game is in developement.

EA had filed an application to get a classification certificate from the Australian Classification Board earlier this year. If a game wasn't in developement how could they give an application for it, and ofcource the Australian Classication Board would not add it just for fun!
