We want a cricket game from EA !!!!!!!! When is it coming any idea? They should make atleast 1 cricket game every 2 years.. its a shame that there arent any good Cricket games out there and they really have to change things in the cricket games.. Cricket 2007 was a joke.

Your guess is as good as mine,
if you had've read the other threads, you would have seen that there are no 'announced' cricket titles in production by EA, and that there are rumour of Trine's Cricket10 being in partnership with EA. The mods cannot tell us anything, because they do not have any information to give.

Who gives a damn about EA's cricket games now?? Ashes 2009 is the way forwards and if it's development is continued, it will be an amazing, if not totally perfect, cricket game in a few years.

Well you right on this one EA could lose some sale`s here I have played the demo
amd the improvments are amazing, the new engine is amazing bowling is so much better batting is more life like, well done codemasters at last a great cricket game to play. P.S could some people give me some feedback, on whether which format this Game is best to play on I.E XBOX 360 UR PS3 ONLINE, the reason im asking this is im really keen to play online on a regular basis, especially you aussies out there and any kiwis aswell depending on time difference of course lol. so to sum up which format would have the most players online, help would be appreciated cheers. |

Ive seen the gameplay videos of Ashes Cricket 2009, It seems arcadish
.. I dont understand, why cant they have realistic player movements like football games do? The bowlers actions are too robotic and the batsman is also kind of like a robot. I dont know how the actual gameplay is but im pretty dissapointed with the movements of the players, Graphics seem fine though. Is a demo for Ashes Cricket 09 on the PSN ? Oh and, Come on codemasters.. Atleast license the game properly. Teams like Pakistan and India dont have proper names. Its difficult to tell who is who.. Atleast if youre gonna put editted names atleast make it so that we know who is who.. Like Shahid Afridi could be called Shaheed Afreedi.. Not everyone is from Australia/England :P |

I have Cricket 07 and I'm thinking about picking up Ashes 09 for 360. When a review is up on IGN I'll take a look and see if it's worth getting.
I agree with you there on the names. With some edited names I can barely tell who's who. Get the licenses, codemasters. Ishont Shurma, Varendah Saywagh, Yunos Karn. lol |

Ashes 09 is a solid game, it suffers from the same problems all Cricket games do though, and that is batting.
They have sharpened the game up alot in every aspect, but batting is still, not too easy, but too inconsistent. I find myself able to score 180-200 in 20 overs batting offensively. Admittedly by that time I've probably dropped 7 or 8 wickets, but it just doesn't seem real. That said I'm not sure I'd actually want to have to bat 50 overs to get 200... Test matches within games will always be flawed for that reason until someone develops a new batting system.. I can bowl the opposition out for between 100 and 150 and know that I can bat like a maniac and still achieve a respectable score. Offensive strokes reach the boundaries on practically every shot assuming you time it perfectly and find the gap. I can easily maintain a score of 10 per over. You'll find your batsmen get out for mistiming shots very realistically, and if you just swing at things without judging shots you'll edge alot of balls. However it's virtually impossible to catch the batsman lbw as the opposition will virtually never not offer a shot or swing so they completely miss it. Bowling is good fun, and actually fairly realistic in terms of the rate the opposition will score. If I'm bowling well I can restrict the opposition to about 2.5-3 an over, and if I become loose they'll score 3-4. Batsmen can frustrate you and will. They'll play at things they shouldn't, hit good balls for 4 and even get hit in the helmet by a good bouncer. The flaw of the difficult of lbw rears it's head again though with every shot seeming to get some virtually non existent edge on the batsman's pads. No balls are also far too frequent to be realistic. Spin Bowlers as in all games are still virtually useless. All in all it's a solid game, but it isn't revolutionary. It's the best Cricket game out there by some distance in my mind, but Test matches are still far from realistic.

Just tried the demo.. I like it.
But, yeah the batting is once again a little easy. After playing the demo 2-3 times i was able to score at 8-10 runs an over once i had got the hang of it. I still have yet to hit a six, But i can still score boundaries pretty easily.. maybe its because its a test match field setting in the demo? Anyway ill probably get the PC version soon. I like the game, I just wish they could make a more realistic game.. Forget the graphics and stadiums just concentrate on making the game realistic so people cant score 10 runs an over.. Make it realistic. Once that's done, Then start improving the graphics. |

Codemasters are now miles ahead of EA as far as cricket is concerned, thanks to Ashes Cricket 2009. Not the original game, no, but the beta patches that have been released on PC (with the full patch to release in the near future I'd say, for PC and the consoles). I have never seen a beta patch, let alone a full patch, improve a game so dramatically. Just a few points:
The edges are now fantastically realistic. Test matches now actually have a chance of going for four or five days. Run rates are now far more realistic, especially for AI - I haven't seen it go above five. Spinners are now a worthwhile inclusion to your squad. Dismissals, both for AI and player, are now far more varied: no more constant catches in the covers. The AI runout bug has been by and large dealt with, but in my own experience, there's a slightly different version of it in there now. Hopefully, I've just been unlucky... And much more. For more details, visit planetcricket.net. ![]() This game is now the best cricket game around, even better than the venerable old BLIC '99. Best of luck catching up, EA, best of British luck, because you'll damn well need it! Edit: It would be nice to see Rugby given the treatment as well. Codies/Transmission, you up for it?
