Yea, rugby.. haha. (When they feel like making one, unfortunately)
They have overhauled the entire gameplay engine according to one of the dev's.
As long as this Codemasters effort doesn't have wierd player names i'll be happy.
Sick of this laziness with the licensing.

Yes, definitely.
Only problem is that Codemasters have a track record of making halfarsed cricket games. That are only fun until the novelty runs out, which is usually after the second game.

No its because EA only release games like Cricket and Rugby when intrest is high in the sport. The last game was released in 2007 before the Ashes and Rugby 08 was released before the world cup. TW 09 was released before the Ryder Cup last year, they only bother when they know they will make lots of money from it.

Anyway glad to hear a cricker game is being released, was playing 07 for a long long time

So far, it sounds promising. And yes, i hope that it is a hell of a lot better.

But waiting, and being let down, time after time takes chunks of your optimism away unfortunately.

sadly it only looks like england and Australia will be fully licensed, with all other test playing nations having wierd naes that have to be edited using a player editor. ah well, the screenshots look ace

That is unfortunate,
well, i hope the add the player editor this time round.
In ICC07 they conveniently removed the player editor so you couldn't rename your stupidly named players.
The screenshots look alright though yes.

The thing with Codemasters is that they probably will only make the players names 'authentic' for the tournaments (Ashes mode, WorldCup, Tours) but when it comes to your average Exhibition match up, it will be all the stupid names.

So if this is released for the PS3, I've heard that because since it's blu-ray, the NTSC and PAL won't matter, is this true?

An Interview with the producer of this game by CricketGamig.net
Ashes Cricket 2009 Q&A with Jamie Firth by CricketGaming - Forums - CricketGaming - Feel the sport

No IPL but he may think of it in future. At least they are providing answers. EA is just sleeping.

Appearances, Kit editor for unlicensed teams looks impressive but no IPL is shocking.

I think this is the right time for EA to get a license for the IPL, nobody has got it yet and they already have lost all major licenses like ECB, Australian Cricket, and Ashes.

Actually the fact is the time has gone. The game has been completed and I don't think so they will build it again.

The problem with Cricket 09 is publishing. All the stakeholders are not agree to announce this game right now.

Codies has already left and I say EA simply sucks and Peter Moore too.

How do you know that the game is delayed coz stakeholders are not agreed to it?
May be the game is outdated and just an upgrade version of Cricket 07 so EA decided not to release and humiliate themselves !!

Yeah, I just hope it's available to me in the States somehow... I mean, I've got friends abroad who could mail it to me if I gave them money but I just want it to work on my PS3.
