Dunno, Peter Moore might hint at it.. Just to get people talking.
I would do the same, to get rumours goin.. its a kind of advertisement in a way. But Officially it would have to be EA that announce it.

I keep tabs open of these forums, Planet Cricket and Peter Moore's blogs everyday and check up on them every couple of hours in the hope that there will be some sort of official news on one of them!

Exciting stuff, finally, a semi-firm hint that Cricket 09 maybe released! Any Cricket game on Next-gen would be good right now.
I know some of you have mentioned some of these ideas that you'd like to see in the next Cricket game already, but I'll put my 2c worth it anyhow: Game modes: ICC World Cup (ODI/Twenty20), Exhibition, Be a Pro Career (Similar to Fifa), Manager Mode, Online Mode, Historic Mode, Practise Mode. (All licensed) All test playing nations local national or state Test/ODI/Twenty20 competitions, i.e Australian domestic competitions: Sheffield Shield, Ford Ranger Cup, KFC Twenty20 Big Bash New Zealand domestic competitions: State Championship first class (4 day) competition, State Shield domestic ODI competition, State Twenty20 Cricket Tournament. England domestion competitions: LV County Championship, NatWest Pro40 League, Twenty20 Cup. (All licensed) Revamped Engine with: Next-Gen Graphics, highly detailed player animations/movements i.e Batsman stance and Bowler actions for unique or star players, fluid movements, highly responsive controls, smooth animations i.e when fielding the ball, players get in the correct throwing position before releasing the ball. More emphasis on bowling and fielding to make the mode more enjoyable. Get instant feedback on performance, resulting in improved confidence and ratings (Batting, bowling and fielding). In "Be a Pro" mode: Progress from your local domestic competition to your national team, whilst improving your skills from batting, bowling and fielding. Have a mode to be able to practise your skills to improve your player ratings in batting, bowling and fielding. Have unique ratings or characteristics for various branded cricket equipment, i.e Bats: Kookaburra Kahuna LE, Power: 8/10, Control: 7/10, Pick-up: 7/10, Gloves: Kookaburra Kahuna LE, Protection: 7/10, Control: 7/10, Luck 9/10 and Boots: Adidas Twenty2yds, Speed: 9/10, Agility 8/10, Luck, 7/10. Similar to Tiger Woods PGA Tour. All brands models included from entry level equipment to high end equipment. As you progress through "Be a Pro" mode the better equipment is then unlocked. Historic Mode: Be able to change history in great Cricketing events. |

Nice work bok,
i'm liking your ideas. Everything they need to do to make it worth buying, is pretty much there. Goodwork.

Cheers Deanology, I really hope that EA may have already incorporated some of these ideas (mostly derived from other EA titles). Also, you mentioned keeping record of statistics in the game i.e R.Ponting scores a 50*, update his batting statistics. I think that's a really great idea, especially for "Manager" mode and "Be a Pro" mode. As all cricket fans are aware, statistics are huge part of Cricket.
Maybe we should apply for jobs @ EA Canada? |

HAHA!! yea mate..
might hurry things along.. One of the things i like about cricket personally is the statistics side of it.. I like keeping score of players stats (eg; 50's, centuries, high scores, strike rates, averages) and my own, so i thought "Why not".. Cricket is a game of statistics, and EA should embrace it.

Yep. hahaha!
Only problem would be MASsIVE unrealistic runs, and mass wickets.. depends how you play i guess. i probably won't be able to play it mind you.. i'm heading away. but i'd buy it for when i get back home. so long as its worth it.

Yea, it was a close t20 series..
And as for the next EA game... If they make it PRIMARILY t20, then they have made a cricket game that is lacking the soul of cricket. ODI, and more importantly, Test Cricket. They can't make a cricket game that doesn't have ODI's and Tests.. (it just ain't cricket...)

i agree 20T is always a blast but they need to have ODIs and test.the game would be lacking without these features although they need to make the cpu harder as in a test it can get boring when your hitting a boundary every ball.maybe have if there is a be a pro mode they could have a feature which changes the players mentality for example in 20t you can paly more freely but in test its harder to score runs because your player wants to stay at the crease.......i duno just an idea.
