Default Cricket 07 Announced

Electronic Arts announced today that EA SPORTS™ Cricket 07 will be released worldwide for the PlayStation®2 and PC in early November 2006. With its fully licensed squads, groundbreaking Century Stick control system and more natural camera perspective, Cricket 07 will bring players the most immersive gameplay experience to date.

"This is the cricket game for both hardcore and casual cricket gamers alike. It is accessible for the new user and full of the subtleties and nuances that make the great sport of cricket so unique," said Justin Forrest, producer, EA Canada. “Our new, innovative 'Century Stick' control system will change the way all fans approach gameplay as you’ll now have full control over foot choice, shot selection, shot power, and shot direction - it's never felt this close to actually wielding a bat before. You won’t experience cricket this authentic without putting on your whites and walking down the pavilion steps yourself.”

Cricket 07 also features a new Quickplay cricket setting that lets players crank up the game speed, ease back the difficulty setting and join the excitement of Limited Overs or fully-licensed Twenty20 extravaganzas by playing a fast-blast match of hard-hitting sixes – or slow the pace down, slide the difficulty up and steel yourself for a five day Test. For a sustained challenge, gamers can choose from a complete schedule of Australian State and English County tournaments or lead the charge in this year’s eagerly anticipated Ashes campaign in the 3-mobile Series Down Under.

The press release says that there are new adboards, bats, gameplay batting system, slider difficulty...etc...

But are there any main features that are being held as a surprise or is that all there is?

Don’t know if it’s too early to speculate about Cricket07 without playing the demo.

The new feature in this game is of course the century stick.

Overall I m disappointed

1) The Graphics in the screenshots are pretty much looks same as Cricket 2005. (Fielders are looking more like Rugby players as usual!). I m disappointed to see the graphics, two years in the making and it seems nothing is been done. If you see other EA games like NHL, FIFA their graphics are getting better from 2005 onwards.
2) No career mode (without this feature I may be bored in 3 months!). A game that is releasing every two years should have enough material in it so that you can enjoy it for two years

3) No online play (specially when Brian Lara Cricket is coming online)

4) I really don’t care about licensed bat or other accessories may be for some it is the most important thing.

It seems EA is more interesting to cash the game on ASHES so they fixed the bugs here and there in Cricket 2005 and labeling it Cricket 07.

Lets hope I m wrong this game will be the best cricket game ever made. Lets hope !!

Have the developers figured out how to do saves between overs for this years XBox version(s)?

Yes there's some sarcasm, but it's also a serious question.

Will you be able to save between overs on the XBox version(s) this year?

I guess they didnt work on the graphics of Cricket 07, they just use Cricket 05 graphics so you can imagine running Cricket 2005 on Xbox360. The game will look crappy

Releasing Cricket 2005 on XBox360 will be a real embarrassment for EA so they simply skip that option.

Cricket 2005 is really a low graphics game if you compare with other EA 07 titles (except Cricket ).

When I run the PC version it needs only 32MB Video Card ... with only 1024x768 max resolution !!

I think that EA should release a decent demo where you can play a 10 over match or something rather than the 2005 demo where we had to play against the Aussie spinners as England with KP and the tailenders and try and chase a massive total.
