Default New C and C Generals?

Hi,
Does anyone know if EA are looking to launcg another of the Generals series? I find them far far superior to the Tiberian lot, never really been enamoured with them.
Anyone help?
Cheers

There is only one Generals game. It's not a series, and there's no 'them'.

Also, since almost every C&C fan thinks that Generals is the worst game of the lot I doubt we'll be seeing a sequel any time soon.

Sorry.

Cheers for the news...by them I was including zero hour, so therefore it is 'them' plural.
Each to their own. Haven't played CnC 3 yet...take it you guys recommend it?
Thanks again.

Zero Hour is an expansion pack, it is not considered a full game; just as Firestorm, Yuri's Revenge, Kane's Wrath etc.

Well I used to quite enjoy Generals. Then I played through Red Alert 2, and tried Generals again. There was so much about it that felt really bad after RA2.
Units fired very slowly, had little armour and had weak attacks. Base defenses on the other hand were incredibly tough and destroyed units very quickly.
The way the buying system worked was horrible. You had to pay for any unit/structure up front. If it got destroyed when it was 1% built then tough, you now can't afford to start building another one.

Basically the entire game was geared towards building lots of defenses and then lots of superweapons. Attacking was fairly pointless unless you had swarms of tanks for each individual base defense. After RA2 I couldn't really stand it.

But yeah like i said I used to enjoy it so I know its not all bad. C&C3 is alright too. It's a much faster pace. Infantry and vehicles all build a LOT quicker, and the game is far more emphasised towards offense instead of defense.

They might make a new Generals you know now I think about it. They made C&C3 not long ago, and RA3 is due out soon. So then what? They can't really go and make C&C4 or RA4 straight away since they have 2 new versions of them already. They might make another Generals to 'buy time' until they can release the others again. Or maybe something completely new.

Jim Vesella in an interview recently hinted toward another visit to the Generals universe.

A sequel is very likely, however a release date or official announcement within the year isn't.

it isn't the greatest of the C&Cs but it is still good. It is one of the best paced multiplayer games of it's spec. Me and uni mates have been playing many times every week for a year now.

It is the best for us since is does have decent ish gfx but runs on mid-low laptops quite well. the only problem is the damn mismatches. that is what is pushing us away from it.

if we could we would probably play C&C 3 but my mates dont have powerful enough computers.

it is just a different style to the others. one that is more casual friendly (which my mates prefer)

Default Generals Rules,,,,,

Generals is way better than the others,
If you like a well plotted out game that requires its fair share of strategy! to be good at!,,,, Then its the one, them others made me question C and C series?? they are way spacey,, robots and nor?!?! What ever that is?! they should have more sci-fi titles like the PLANET of NOR 3 Cain’s wrath, lol

Keep C and C for the real time strategy i say!!!

As far as I'm concerned, Renegade is the most popular online game of all.
I know it's not RTS type, but hey... this is all about online gaming, right?!
Since only Command and conquer, Red Alert, and Retaliation were ever released to other formats other than pc.

Therefore, if EA is thinking of working on another Command and Conquer in the near future, I would say:
Concentrate on Renegade, and give the RTS a breack for the time being.

Command & Conquer is sci-fi! Generals had no storyline and was the most 'real-life' of the lot.

Ok I don’t really know of the Generals story line!, but I can tell you stories from TECstars front LINE,, about my tactical advancements to stay competitive at my game!!!??

When rating games something I consider most is, in game user independence?,,, for instance’ GTA by RockStar, where you can go around, and kind of make up your own game,,, most strategy games can do this, But I found the advancements and special unit feature in Generals , have given the game superb independent combating ability, where players can even win! Within reason! without a single tank or Sw,,,,

Of course this apply to proper gamers,,,,,

I haven't played generals a lot, I'm on mission 4 or 5 atm with the americans.
I haven't played none of the other factions yet.
So I can't really compare much, how generals play differentelly from other command and conquer games.

So far, I don't see much difference.

However the tactics are different.
Each mission plays different, and you have to think quick what you have to do.
For instants the mission where you have to stop enemy forces from destroying your convoy.
That mission is NOT for noobs, no sirey!

You only have limited sources, so you have to build and deploy your units accordingly.
You have to know what type of units you should, can, and afford to use.
Build your defences...
All this while protecting the convoy, and your base.

So I desagree that Generals is for noobs, it is NOT.

I agree it's easy-er, yes it is.
Ideal IF you're only just starting playing Command and conquer.

But, there is a difference bettween recomending Generals for Noobs, and actually being made for Noobs.

I think EA also thought about this, when bringing Generals into a new era of graphycs and game play, and they thought of the existing fans and the potential, possible new fans... and so Generals was born.

I dont want to argue with players that think Generals is nooob,,,them almost cartoon like graphics hide an immensely well plotted out ‘strategy demanding’ game!!,,,, That!? if you play with China ( mammoth tank ) and GLA ( Sw ) Armies your on the receiving end of!!,,, note: have not used these armies can not give an opinion on the game from there angle,, the layouts and command voices change with armies,,,

Also sry if i bashing other C and C titles, but Generals, Did it for me!! The dozer instead of Side Bar, is way cool, also the map layout!,, being a World Builder user I kind of feel that the units and the map are like different sources, that work with each other,, not like one picture, but a main picture that’s got little Ai units working around it, good idea for a engine that could be prone to XXlaggXX oh no!! the L word I’m outta here!?!?!?!?!

I don't see Generals as the worst, or as a noob C&C thanks. It's pretty snobby to say such a thing. It's not the best, but it's not as bad as you guys above seem to be making it out to be. It had a storyline actually, despite out plain it might have been. I for one have enjoyed it many times, the Shockwave mod was brilliant and improved the game ten-fold. It's fun, has good eye candy and isn't something which should be shoved into the corner for not 'living up to expectatsions', whatever they might be.

And to the guy who said C&C Generals was cartoony, what drugs are you on?
