Default How to install and play downloaded maps

Maps in C&C3 do not go in My Documents/Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars/Maps. It's a bit more complicated but follow these instructions and you'll have no problems:

Installing
These instructions are for both Multiplayer and Singleplayer (missions) maps.
The first thing to do is unzip the map to your desktop. This might create a new folder or it might not - either way it doesn't matter. Just make sure you can identify the .map file, the .tga files and the .xml files, there may be other files as well depending on what the author has included.

Windows XP Users
  • Click Start > My Computer,
  • Click Tools > Folder Options
  • Click the View tab and check "Show hidden files and folders",
  • Click OK,
  • Now navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\[ Username ]\Application Data\Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars
  • Your username in this case is your Windows account username. It is the username you click at the Windows welcome screen. If it doesn't exist already, create a folder called Maps
  • Now create a folder with the same name as the map. Do not use a space as it won't show up in-game, use an underscore instead.
  • Now copy the files (.map, .tga and .xml etc) from your desktop into this newly created folder
You're finished

Windows Vista Users
  • Click Start > Computer,
  • Click Organise > Folder and Search Options,
  • Click the View tab and check "Show hidden files and folders",
  • Click OK,
  • Now navigate to C: \Users\[ Username.Computername ]\AppData\Roaming\Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars

If you're still having difficulty I'd recommend the C&C3 Map Manager

Playing
Multiplayer Maps
The map will appear in the in-game map selection menu when creating an online or skirmish game. They are distinguished from the official maps by the icon next to the name; official maps have a shield icon whereas downloaded maps have a round icon.

Singleplayer (missions) Maps
From the main menu hover your mouse over "Skirmish" and click "Custom Maps".

Kane's Wrath
Follow the instructions as above, but instead of the Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars directory, look for Command & Conquer 3 Kane's Wrath
