Default Can't get game controller to be recognised

Just got BP on Steam and I'm enjoying it, however, I am unable to get it to recognise the fact I hae a game controller plugged in. Windows knows it's there, BP doesn't. Any suggestions as to how I can resolve this?

I'm using Vista 64 bit, and the controller is a Saitek Rumble.

I've also had trouble getting it to recognise controllers. I have a Saitek P3200 that it eventually recognised, but I can't remember the sequence of frustrated key-mashing that did it.

More recently I got an Xbox360 controller. BP still had the Saitek in the Controller Options screen (even though only the 360 was plugged in) and steadfastly refused to see the 360 controller untill I attempted to remap one of the 'Saitek' buttons. As soon as I pressed a key on the 360 controller, PB saw it.

Maybe if you try pressing some of your controller buttons during the PB start up screens ("Press Any Button to Cotinue"), PB will see it...

Alas, I have tried that but still nothing happened. Incredibly annoying, as I enjoy the game, but would enjoy it much more if I could sit back in my chair and play with a controller rather than hunched over the keyboard.

Default Thrustmaster Run'n'Drive on PC

Running Win7 Ent with latest Win7 drivers from Thrustmaster. BP sees the controller but says it has no key mappings for it, please set manually, however it won't recognise any key presses from the controller! Major bumber!

(I played the demo of this on the Xbox360 when it came out and I seriously considered buying a PS3 just last week, just for my driving games (GRID, DiRT, Shift, FlatoutUC) but I can't shoot anything with a gamepad! And I just don't have quite that much money to burn. Plus BP is only £5 on EA right now!)

Thank you bog0ffea I think your suggestion of hitting controller keys during game boot fixed my problem. My Run'N'Drive wireless now completely works. I had to manually set the keys but I would do that anyway. It accepts commands from all 7 axis. Awsome!

Probably the least helpful comment I've read in a fair while (and this is the internet, so that's going some).
