And the winner is...

It's official! Burnout Paradise is the Best Driving Game of 2008.

We picked up the Best Driving Game of 2008 award at this year’s Spike TV Video Game Awards.

And with a killer year of downloadable content in store for 2009, perhaps Paradise will be up for another award at the next show?!!

And the awards keep rolling in...

Hot on the heels of our Spike Video Game Award for Best Driving Game of 2008, we're listed as #2 in the Wired Multiplatform Games of 2008.

Here's what they had to say about Burnout Paradise:

"Sorry, every other racing game ever made: The developers at Criterion have pwn3d you once again. The franchise's brilliant play mechanics that made crashing as much fun as driving have been transferred to a vast sandbox environment, losing nothing in the process. It's the best online multi-player racing experience by a country mile, and Criterion continues to add new features that are almost dangerous in their awesomeness, like a flying car."

Wow.

Seriously, it's great to see some official recognition for the effort we've put in this year. Reinventing Burnout as an open world, online-focused social experience on brand new hardware was ambitious. Delivering wholesale support through 2008 required huge commitment.

We'd like to thank everyone who's joined us in Paradise City in 2008. We're looking forward to bringing you some great new Burnout action in '09.

They deserve it. Anyone who's played the game knows they deserve it. They did a brilliant job with Burnout: Paradise, and are still producing amazing DLC.

well, im not impressed with the game, yeah the 2 first series of the game was terrific in my eyes, but burnout paradis ultimate box, where do i start:

1. handling, u are driving a gokart no matter the car u driving, it can be a pick up truck or a look a like sportscar, handling is the same, handbrake the car and the car automatically stops in 1 sec, only time u can powerslide the car are, well if u tap the brake button just ones. but u cant handbrake the car and get it to powerslide.

2. the mode when u are chased by black cars, even if u were a building they would smash and trash ur car, cos they are tanks. no wait, they are super tanks and your car are simular to a bug. had the "van" and were going full speed bumping into one of the black cars who, didnt feel ****, the same thing happened to my car and i was airborn directly.

but sure, its a nice looking game, cars shines, go fast, go faster and almost airborn on the speed.

On the pc I Have tried 2 games, "grid" and "burnout paradise ultimate box" and i cant even imagine how "burnout" can compete at this level against grid, ok its still my opinion, but hey, i great car game arent all about going fast forward, u gotta have the feeling in it, handling, speed etc.

the pc version of the game has the same version as the recent update to consoles.

and let me say this: the game was a hell of a lot better before said update.

most people hate it. burnout paradise was 5x better before it.
