Default "Cagney" update now out for 360 owners!

Xbox 360 owners: rejoice!

The "Cagney" software update for Burnout Paradise can now be downloaded!

Here's the method to download it:

  1. Log in to your Xbox Live account (if that's what it's called! )
  2. In the XBL, scroll to Game Store and it should be there.
  3. After downloading the "content" you will need to "title-update" the game, but currently, people are having problems getting the "title-update" to start.
  4. ... and there you have it - you now have "Cagney"!

Congratulations 360 owners, I hope you enjoy it!

Cool i'll go download it right now.

Not that it's going to be much different from standard offline BP. But you know. May as well get it.

Oh this is an absolute joke. Due to the fact I have Silver, I cannot download this damn update for another week yet.

ARRRRRRGH I HATE XBL

Why oh why was this put in the gamestore and not just released as a game update.

Put the game in, the game asks me to download the free update (around 380MB) so I download, and then it says:

"The downloaded content appears to be damaged and cannot be used"

Great.

Have you tried from the Marketplace (as Matt@Sim_Moves suggested)?

There are some really good instructions on how to get the "Cagney" update, posted from Criterion forum-user Xpowaspa:
Quote:
Step One: Don't start the game
Before you can get the update you need to either exit the game or not insert it. As it won't auto-update (or will it?)

Step Two: Go to the marketplace

Right now it should be in New arrivals > Burnout Paradise but for a later date I think you can find it in Game Add-ons > All(?) > Burnout Paradise.
NOTE: XBL Silver users will have to wait at least another week at this moment. If you want to blame someone... blame Microsoft

Step Three: Download the update

And do something to waste the time....

Step Four: Start the game

You should get a prompt to update the game. If you have problems try clearing your cache and see if that helps (NOTE: You will need to update all your games again if you do this)

Step Five: You're done

Now go play Cagney. You have to wait for the Rai-Jin and Olympus though...

It's a shame that after all this time they still couldn't get the update right. Fortunately I downloaded it before starting the game but the amount of issues with this, and you'd think also with thsi extra time they coulda added a couple of new achievements you know to sweeten the wait.

what bright spark came up with the idea of putting it IN the marketplace, instead of making it a game update?

Stop being so tight and buy gold then £3.33 a month is hardly an extravagance. Why would you want an online service LIKE playstation, a fractured, hap-hazard service that doesn't integrate well with any of the console functionality. As opposed to a smooth streamlined service that blends seamlessly with the offline functionality of the console that costs an absurd £3.33, I spend more on lunch then that, even the monthly subscription for most MMORPGs is higher than that and thats to play one game.

When I put the disk in, it automatically came up saying there was an update available, and I download it straight away. So since I did this, will it still work, or should I have done it the way that Xpowaspa said?

Since the PSN recieved update 2.41, they're not all that different, to be honest (in my opinion, and I own both consoles).

The majority (if not all) Xbox 360 games support 'Achievements', whereas only the newer PlayStation 3 titles will support 'Trophies'. That's about the only difference, in my opinion. Although I can live without Achievements if it means a free online service!

Achievements don't really have much to do with the online service, but it's that it's intergrated so well, for the PS3 online functionality seems like an add-on or a plugin, not part of the consoles core functionality, just there for patches, DLC and online games. On the Xbox 360 it's a core part of the consoles functionality, the social element of your friends being the touch of a button away for chat, messaging, MSN, or to invite or join a game. Live integrates into the console seamlessly, so well in fact that you miss it when its gone. Granted Sony has closed the gap with their last years worth of updates, but Microsoft are going to open it again in Autumn with the new dashboard update that will change the way you view your friends online, interact with them, socialise with them. Put simply, Sony's called Microsoft out on their preimium online service, and Microsoft has answered.

Yes Home. Which still isn't out after all these years...

IRT

I downloaded the update. DJ Atomica is back :O.

Or rather, Evil Atomica as he said just then.

Let's not turn this into a PS3 vs 360 debate please. If you wish to discuss the two consoles you can head over to Gamers Retreat.

I hateconsole debates I really do. I remember about 5 years ago when I took part in them. *shudder*. Used to get so worked up.

Then I realised just how incredibly pointless it was.

My comment about Home wasn't anything like that btw. I'm looking foward to it as much as anyone. But it just still isn't out.
