That's getting redicilious. It's been 2 weeks, and Xbox still hasn't got it. Honestly I can't see what the problem is, but I know that there will be ALOT of upset users that will say to other gamers, "Cagney isn't out, may as well get a PS3"

C'mon Microsoft!!! Pick up your act for once!!!! You are here to make something that we want to play, if you don't service your Xbox section, people will start to leave!

Erm what does Microsoft have to do with anything? Why do they need to service their xbox section? It's Criterion that need to sort out their Xbox section, it's Criterion that needs to pick up their act. The problem is with Criterion not Microsoft, Criterion made the software and it was delayed due to a bug that was found, it's just that Criterion haven't been able to fix it in time.

You KNOW that a lot of people will buy a PS3 to get a FREE software update for a game that presumably they already on on Xbox 360 since they're annoyed about it's delay. You really think people are going to think "hmmm this FREE patch hasn't been released yet and won't be released for a couple more weeks, I think I'll buy a £300 console and spend £40 on a game that I already own on another platform so that I can get the update a little earlier"!? You're either a serious PS3 fanboy or a moron, sorry that's the stupidest thing I've heard in a long time.

I was told that Microsoft Controls the servers for the 360, Criterion control them for the PS3 Servers. It is Microsoft who has to convert the update for the Xbox, not the other way around. That's why when it comes out on PC, Xbox and PC users will be able to verse each other, and Play Station will be in category of it's own.

As for switching to PS3, there is a Deal with the Bravias in Oz at the moment. Buy a Bravia and get a free PS3. And from inside knowledge, there have been ALOT of PS3s given away. Also JB Hi-Fi, GAME and Electronic Boutique have deals where you can bring in games/consoles and get a discount off a new one. I have a mate that got the RROD and bought a PS3 less then a week later.

So PS3 fanboy then. Yeah Microsoft control the servers, but if you'd read the posts you'd know that it has nothing to do with servers or who controls them, it's because they found a bug in the 360 version of the update and had to hold it back to correct the bug.

I still doubt many people if anyone would trade in their 360 because of the burnout patch, maybe because of 360 hardware troubles but those are old news and pretty much sorted.

Still with all that said, you still would agree with me that "This is Pathetic!" It's just like when Movies get released in the US, but the rest of the world has to wait 6 weeks, even though the film can be shipped by jet in under 2 days.

I do feel sorry for you Xbox guys.

Oh no I don't disagree that it's pathetic and stupid and annoying, but it's also not Microsoft's fault it's down to Criterion.

I watched that. Their Marked Man demo was brilliantly entertaining and informative! It was really great how they presented that, with Matt W providing his commentary on proceedings. It was so funny when he got caught out when his turn came.
It looks like episode 8 will be better than this one, though.

The traffic report was another wonder touch, and I saw key correlation between where I most often fall fell of traffic, and the red areas highlighted on the map. So, that was also great. Mailbag a bit meh, this time.

Criterion Announces Burnout Paradise Full Game for US Playstation Store in Fall

It's a huge day here at Criterion.

We've been working closely with Sony for some time to make Burnout Paradise available for download on their awesome US Playstation Store.

We're finally able to announce today that we're coming to the Store, and we'll be ready to ship this Fall! The Store screen will look something like this.

A new way to buy Burnout

This is incredibly exciting news for us. It obviously means you'll be able to get Burnout Paradise however you want. Pick it up in your regular games retailer or kick back in the comfort of your own home and download it from the Playstation Store. And the laziest of us will appreciate not having to get up to switch games or remember where we left the disk!

It's obviously big news, but there's more to it than that.

This year, we brought Burnout kicking and screaming into the next-generation with Burnout Paradise.

Obviously, we delivered awesome visuals and destruction on PS3 and Xbox 360 in our most ambitious game yet. We built our first open-world game and introduced a mountain of fresh innovations – everything from "Mugshots" (sending instant snapshots of your face to anyone who runs you off the road) to our new "Showtime" game mode (steer a wrecked car through the city picking up dollar damage scores for everything you hit).

New Criterion

But the big change for us was creating a fun, social online experience that people could come back to again and again.

We invented "Easydrive" – the simplest way to hook up with friends online – and focused our action on collaborative rather than ultra competitive online play through "Freeburn Challenges" – just hanging out with friends and working together to complete simple challenges.

And that's just the start.

Big brother's watching you!

We can see everything that happens in Paradise City. Here's where everyone crashed yesterday!

Our telemetry team watch how you play, and we're refining Paradise and redesigning our future content, based on what we see. We've never built a game with this much info at our fingertips and the result will be a better Burnout experience than ever before.

Next in the Burnout Series

We've made the decision to support our players more than any other game out there.

The follow-up to Burnout Paradise is on the way, in fact you can already play it.

Our recent free Cagney update, gave players 3 new game modes, 70 new Freeburn Challenges, some awesome vehicles and paint-jobs and an in-game news page and calendar.

We've almost finished developing our Bike Pack. This brings motorcycles and characters to Burnout for the first time.

And we're hard at work on our Playstation Trophy Pack now. This will be followed by a new island location, more game modes and some unbelievable new vehicles.

As always, we'll bring you all the news here on the site and on our video podcast – Crash TV.

This year, we're taking Burnout on its biggest adventure yet.

We hope you'll join us for the ride!

I think ill just ignore the last pic!

Latest Burnout Bikes Screenshots

Wow! The Bikes Pack is almost here! We're content complete and going through the submission process now.

One thing we've learned over the past few months is our fans like to get a firm date to look forward to for our free content. We won't say when this is until we're absolutely sure, but it's coming round SOON!

While you wait for confirmation of the pack's release date, here are some new images of the two awesome bikes that you can play with from Day 1 of the pack arriving.

The first 2 available Burnout bikes will be the FV1100 street bike and the Nakamura Firehawk V4 racing bike.

You can ride as either a guy or a girl.

Burnout's always been an awesome racing game – in the past we were big on crashing, aggression and rivalry. But despite that, the game's always had a universal appeal.

Social, fun, accessible

Burnout Paradise was our first game to reward collaborative play and encourage players to hang out and have fun together rather than against each other! It's a more social, fun and welcoming place than any previous Burnout.

The result is the game's now played by guys and girls of all ages, regardless of whether you're into fast cars, racing or fierce player rivalry.

We knew when we introduced the first ever Burnout characters, that we'd have to let you choose between male and female riders.

Just head to the Junkyard, pick and bike and switch paint-jobs to select different riders. The girls get to choose bikes with a softer range of colours, and of course a cuddly bunny rabbit:

Nakamura FV1100

The Nakamura FV1100 is a no nonsense street bike. The sweet 1100CC engine delivers high performance with easy handling making it the most versatile bike in Paradise.

The exposed engine doesn’t leave much room for stylish paintwork, but when the engine looks this good, who needs bodywork?

Firehawk V4

The Nakamura Firehawk V4 is thoroughbred racing bike. It arrives on the streets of Paradise straight from the race track!

But this isn't the race track. This is Paradise City!

It's out-and-out speed will appeal to most, but the lithe handling will be its most useful feature, as you take on the bike-specific challenges that are also part of this pack.

The Kanji characters on the guys’ version mean “fire”, but we also have a version for our female rider, featuring an all-new Burnout cartoon character.

This is a first for Burnout. We're into uncharted territory with the arrival of both cars and characters in this – our biggest – free download pack yet.

More soon!
i like the firehawk

Finally they release some news! (Criterion haven't been giving us much news lately: probably because "Simes" is on holiday)

i know some people who might not be happy with the whole "girly rider, girly paint job" decision. None of them play Burnout though so we're clear . And it's good there's a chopper from the start, i usually either cruise (sort of) or show off.

( i know! maybe there'll be a way of doing tricks)

Bikes Gameplay Unveiled

This week, we started to ramp up towards the release of our great FREE Bikes Pack. This one's pretty much complete now and in the final phase of testing. Here at the studio, most of the Burnout team have moved on to the next pack, which is trophies. But more on that soon, because today we want to spill a few details about bike gameplay.

The Bike Pack adds another 9-10 hours of gameplay to our already MASSIVE game, but it's important that we give you new things to do…not more of the same.

We've built another 70 Challenges. If you're not familiar with Burnout, Freeburn Challenges are basically "online for the rest of us". No intense competition, no getting schooled, no racing, no headshots! Just kick back, relax and tool around in Paradise City with your friends playing simple challenges that take you on a tour of the city's most fun locations.

Half of the 70 new challenges are regular Freeburn Challenges – just hang out with friends and collaborate to get these done in your own time. The other half are timed, multipart challenges that inject a little excitement and allow you to replay to improve your best times. They include popping wheelies and staying on the back wheel to make the most of the fact you're on bikes for the first time.

With bikes, you also get a fresh new map of the city, filled with the bike equivalent of Burning Routes (against-the-clock races). These are called Burnout Rides and bring a new dimension through 2-part checkpoint races. They'll reward players that have spent a little time getting to know the city. There are 38 in total, and the traffic system's been rebalanced to introduce you gently to an all new kind of Burnout racing.

And if that's not enough, you can whip through the city breaking new bike-specific fast times set for all 64 streets.

The Bikes Pack is a massive deal for us at Criterion. Here's why.

Firstly, we've never done bikes before in a Burnout game before. The way our cars handle has always taken a lot of work and getting the cars to feel just right has taken a lot of time and energy over the years. Bikes are all new, but we wanted to get them right first time. We're pretty happy with the way they feel, and we hope you guys will be too. You can wheelie around the city and stop to pull doughnuts or combine the two!

Secondly, every new pack we build for Burnout Paradise is grander than the last. We want to change Burnout this year. Big time. And we want to do it through downloadable packs. We want you to know that if you buy Burnout Paradise, you buy much more than the disk we shipped back in January, and the Bikes Pack is the biggest indication yet of how far we're willing to push the game.

We'll be back next week to talk about how we're mixing things up a little in the Bikes Pack with the introduction of Day and Night gameplay!
