Can anyone confirm - preferably 'officially' - whether or not there will definitely be downloadable content forthcoming for Burnout Paradise? And by that, I mean some kind of expansion, rather than just new cars, etc.
I have absolutely loved the game, but having found all the jumps, smashes and billboards, I'm finding that my interest in the game is waning. I've no real interest in unlocking every single car, since there's little point - you can win a race in any vehicle, as the boost is a great equaliser. The Road Rules and the like are fun for a while, but soon wear thin. Online races are fun, but spoiled - as are so many games - by poor comms quality. (Honestly, why other devs can't manage the same quality comms as Resistance is beyond me!) So unless any DLC is confirmed, I feel I'll be listing my copy of Paradise on an auction site in the near future.

DLC is confirmed, but what it will actually be is still a mystery.
This statement from Critierion Games about why Xbox users are required to have a hard drive states that it's because they plan DLC and wanted everyone to be able to see it even if they don't buy it. Criterion Games > Burnout > Burnout Paradise > In The Press > Features > Xbox 360 HDD/Online Statement That sounds like new cars, meaning if you come across someone driving a new car that you didn't buy, you can still see it on your screen (because the models for it were downloaded to your console's HD), but you can't personally drive it (because you didn't pay for it). Hopefully the DLC will include more than just cars. I have 81 cars and drive less than 5 on any regular basis. Unless there's a 10/10/10 stunt car that handles perfectly, I have no use for anymore cars. Maps expansions (with new events, jumps, billboards, smashes), and online marked man and road rages would be the best additions. Last edited by vandaronas; 29-02-2008 at 07:55 PM.. |

Downloadable content has been confirmed by Criterion, as to when we get it remains a mystery.
They said will be more than just 'new cars', possibly new game modes and a whole new area to explore. We'll just have to wait and see!

I think it will contain at least the island to the east that the unfinished bridge leads to (the airport?). You can see it on old maps.
And in the game, you can get a pretty good look of the island looking out over the water from this bridge As well as a number of different places there along Angus Warf. ... What I'd really like to have is a destruction derby arena/mode. I loved those games for the PS1 and Burnout is I think the closest I have to something like that now.

Hey guys, I hope they do bring a DLC for paradise, a kind of cops and robbers type thing would be gr8. me and a few m8's often do it for fun but an offical game would be better. I did hear from one of my xbox360 m8's that they might do a DLC of the original map with a full airport and other stuff

I just saw this video on PS3Blog.net which apparently shows a bridge heading to a new area.
I have to say that, if this is the airport, I'll be more than a little hacked off, since the airport was shown in the original map and should have been in the final game. I'm not a skinflint - I'm happy to pay for DLC which is developed post-launch and adds to the game. However, if EA/Criterion had the airport in from the beginning, that means that they removed it from the game for the sole purpose of charging for it as an add-on later. If this does turn out to be the case, I'll certainly have to think twice about purchasing it.

Even though there has been no release date issued for the DLC (Downloadable Content), it should be around in the next few months.

Just noticed, the "dust storm" buggy > YouTube - Burnout Paradise - Dust Storm <. That looks a bit DLC to me. Bring on more cars!! I see what you mean about the "unfinished bridge" aswell. Its just opposite the petrol station.
Theres another bit I have noticed, up at the observatory, 2 closed roads blocked off with boulders. Currently I havent been able to crash/showtime over them. sounds promising though!

The bridge! Quote:
Paying for content that was originally going to be in the game but had to be cut isn't the same as paying for content that was deliberately held out of the game so you'd have to pay extra for it. It's almost as bad, but not quite. Last edited by Spidery Yoda; 11-03-2008 at 04:08 PM.. |
