Why is there no SPLITSCREEN-MULTIPLAYER in BO:Paradise? A PS3 is for playing with some friends at the couch ? My PC is for playing in the internet ?? Please, bring out an Update, with a good and acceptable offline multiplayer !!!
PLEASE !!

I agree with you that omission of splitscreen is a pretty big negative, especially to gamers who live in the same space together, i.e. my wife and me. Furthermore, while I do not presume to understand fully the development process of Burnout Paradise, but in terms of game development in general the explanation provided by the developers in the podcasts doesn't hold much weight.
A) the argument that 'online gaming is the future' and that with 'more high-speed connections' offline multiplayer is not as viable, they completely miss the point, that there a different social gaming element at work in offline play...high-speed connections does not mean much to my wife and me, or my cousins, or siblings looking to play together locally. B) The contention that it would require reducing the Single Player experience to 30fps in order to make splitscreen smooth is a non-issue playability wise. Many games in the next gen (FPS and racers alike) accomplish splitscreen, at 30 fps, and they are completely playable AND enjoyable. C) Streaming the world for two people locally would not perform well. Well, that may be true, but there are two factors to consider about this. First, the playable world can be reduced. This was done in the demo through the use of barriers. If the local split-screen players could choose, say, one of four or five 'regions' of the world, the game could simply cordon off the selected section, reducing the workload of the game. Second, and tied in with the above-mentioned 30 fps, simply lower the detail in-game. Again, many next-gen games do this (contending that, with half the screen, lower detail is rarely noticed anyway). Certainly Paradise uses different LODs for draw distance; simply instruct the game to utilize LOD 1 instead of LOD 0 at near distance. Now, if this was simply a design decision, or a matter of time constraints that prevented the dev team from implementing local multiplayer, then fine. But say that, instead of offering up explanations which sound more like excuses than absolute restrictions; because my wife and I aren't going to buy Paradise as our third Burnout game if we cannot compete together. Please note that I am not irate here. I am not ranting or going on how Paradise sucks...in fact, I think Paradise is a hell of a game! I rented it and have been playing it every chance I get, and aside from taking a wrong turn in a race (getting better as I learn the city), I think it's very fun! But I also think that an important gaming demographic is being overlooked with greater frequency but developers, a mistake in my mind. Criterion, EA, if you are reading this, know one thing: if you release local multiplayer as a DLC addon, my wife and I will gladly buy it and the game; otherwise, I'll be picking up this enjoyable title second-hand to ensure that my money speaks for me. |

You are fully right !! I wanted to buy the game like the other titles(BO,BO2,BO3:Taked.,...) because I want to play with my friends in splitscreen !! I have also Internet, but I have a PC too. So if I want to play online I play at the PC, but I OWN a PS3 to play with some friends at the couch and not online. Or you make it like in WarHawk( Splitscreen&online ) !?!?! The CONSOLE is the invention to play the same Game at the same time together with real friends in the same room at the same TV !!!
If BO:Paradise gets offline-multiplayer-Action, I will BUY it ..... Some of my friends too..... I've been waiting so long for a GOOD SPLITSCREEN GAME FOR THE PS3 , But now it is again a big disappointment.... ![]() ![]() ![]() |

umh...
time ago with burnout3 i tried the splitscreen with a video projector on a wall with som friends.. even if the screen size was really big it completely destroyed the experience you would had with a full screen all for you. we opted to do a "takedown race" with turns. so i think a split screen in paradise ruins completely the experience. or maybe in a big tv with hd should work ;P

Motorstorm 2 scheduled later on this year has 4 player split screen. I love burnout Paradise and am only 2 awards away from 100%. This game is true nextgen and the 1st game I have truly got into with online play.

I think split-screen on the whole is being neglected these days. Devs's are so obsessed with online play that they forget all about it. Split screen is far more fun than online. In fact, i only play online games on the PC, and even then there are only 1 or 2 that i enjoy playing online (Team Fortress 2
).I have 2 controllers for my 360, but the 2nd one rarely gets used. It only gets used when i download a multiplayer live arcade game trial or something like that. Burnout would be a brilliant multiplayer game, but I understand their reasons for not including it. I just wish more games included good old split screen multiplayer. |

Burnout paradise is brilliant online. take time to get to know people online and get into the social scene that burnout paradise has created. I have met lots of people online who like me have gotten online because of this game. GTA4 online will need to go far to compete agains Burnout Paradise online.

The day of split screens seems to be over. I have not got one game that is split screen compadible. Even if it was something small without the freeroam that'd be cool.

What a shame!
Do they think at Criterion that we are all friendless and absolutely need to play online ?? Burnout Paradise is hell good but i also bought it to have a good game to play with my gf or friends at home, i didn't ask myself if it was mp or not, for me it was obvious that it should be ! Do you think that Criterion will listen to us and finally code the offline-mp in next burnouts ? Cheers to everyone (except Criterion dev chief , you made bad decision !!!! >:[ ) |
