I'll be leaving for home soon though ^

I've been gathering a hefty amount of photos here, especially from the game last night, (the MLS cup, duhhhh) after my hangover is cured, I think I'll be going to a few practice games just to stay in shape. They are quite good here and just wish more people would accept that not every American is some dumb yank that plays "soccer".

Anyways, Aesop Rock was good, and I have to say, I'm going to miss all my friends. But I'll return soon though, maybe next year.

Oh yeah, I'm going to a Porto game, and I'm exactly sure when that is, I think it's the game against Benfica. Should be a blast.

I'll tell you how it goes.

My friend in America said Training Day was on AMC. Luckily, my friend had it here at home and so we decided to sit down and watch it. Amazing. No wonder Denzel has so many oscars. Interested to see a Portuguese version of it, maybe Denzel could learn the language, :)

Nah, thats me just being super lame.

Things are still going great here, I'm already getting a huge portfolio of photos already, got to visit the Dragao a couple of times as well. And trained with the guys. Actually we conditoned and I haven't done that in a while. So, I was about hurl my lunch on the pitch when we were done. Yeah, pretty bad.

Once we got all settled we had a little game, unfortunatly a ball got volleyed in the side of my head and left ear was burning. Literally, it felt like it was on fire. It ended up being 4-4, we we're down by 3, I ended up getting the equalizer, they got a penalty, and I ended up doing some wierd bicycle kick to tie it all up. I landed hard and stayed on the ground.

Penalties! :yippee: I have a thing for penalties if you can tell. I have a techinque and everything, no, nothing like Simao we're you stutter a little and then pluck it home. I was first to go, (again) I'm already getting street cred for my penalty taking. Tucked in the top left cornor. Goalkeeper even guesed the right way.

Anyways, it ended going into sudden death and our stepped up and hit the post. :( We all bought a round of drinks to drain out sorrow.

Me and my girlfriend plan on going to the beach soon, just me and her. So I'll get a chance to rest my tired legs and watch the sun set. Quite peaceful.

Peace Cup! Woot! And Porto is going up against Lyon I think.

The good thing is I get to watch it with Portuguese commentators. My Portuguese is decent now so I can somewhat understand it. Even though I was almost killed last night walking the streets.

Okay, I suppose I could tell that story. Last night I went out for a stroll around the city, just walking around, it was quite dark. Then later on I wanted to go back home and got a tad lost. There was this group of guys in an alley and so I decided to ask them. I asked them some directions and one of them immediately pulled a blunt object out of his jacket.

Well my freakin bad! Luckily, and I mean I was sooooo lucky that a police officer happened to pass the ally. Immediately the group of guys scattered, climbing over a fence and letting a bent pipe clatter on the ground. My hear was pounding, the police officer was kind enough to escort me home. He said I should never do this since I new here. I don't blame him.

I told everyone at home the story and they flipped out. But the good thing is that I didn't get my wallet stolen or beat up.I would have ended up kicking them in the shins, which would have hurt since I play football.

Anyways, a little crazy I might. We've been to a few bars around town, hung out with my friend's friends. Had lunch, that sort of thing. Me and my girlfriend even rented a moped and drove around, quite romantic I might add.

I'll probably practice and condition later on today and snap some pictures.

Sorry, I know this is short, I promise the next blog will at least be better.

I have yet to meet this man again. FC Porto is taking part in the Peace Cup, so when they return I can get my chance. The good thing is I get to see it all live here instead of hunting it down illegally on the internet or some other source. :shifty: Forget I told you that.

I've also just watched Borat for the first time. Yes, I'm a bit of a caveman when it comes to new movies, I tend to watch older ones. It was hilarious and at times I almost cried with laughter. Which is rare for me. My girlfriend enjoyed it aswell.

The Dragao was nice and my friend was able to get me inside somehow, he's got connections too. I got plenty of pictures, I snapped one of a security guard, he just stood there and looked menacing. I don't think he liked having his picture taken.

I also went to practice with my friend and I'm quite sore right now. I got a late winner, I think one of them said it was within the last second. :teeth: I managed to succesfully use the outside of my boot, trivela from 20 yards, curling into the top corner. That was class.

Afterwards we had another penalty shootout. I was first to go up, pressure on me. But I surprised everyone with a delicate chip up the middle.

Later on we went out for drinks and came back home. It was a good day here in Porto. I'll try to take it easy though for the next weeks. Thats a bit of challenge for me, but I'll manage.

I had to sleep after the trip. I've been doing this too many times, I'll soon get used to it though, I hope. :roll:

Anyways, I stepped off the plane, my friend took me to his house, and slept there. My girlfriend helped him cook, little did I know their both great cooks.

The food was good and I was able to drive around. I felt like walking once we got in town and was able to snap a lot of photos. We stopped at restaurant and got a drink. Very nice here.

Mean while my Portuguese is still improving. I think a woman was offended when I tried to hello to here. My bad!

I also got to squeeze in some practice with a team from town. My friend was on the team and I got to join them for a game. We came back from 3 down, I got the game winner! :yippee:

It was just a little chip over the goalkeeper. My girlfriend took photos of the game, she's also a very good photographer. Afterwords we had a penalty shootout for fun.

It went into sudden death and it was my turn to go up. Walked up, set the ball down, backed up, whistle blew and sent the ball bottom left. It was class.

We ended up winning the shootout.

Portugal!



Sadly, I had to leave America unexpectedly. Me and my girlfriend decided to have a vacation for good and fly to Portugal for a couple of months. I'm about to get a flight soon.

When we do get there, I have yet another photography assignment for my company, the good thing is that I get to go see FC Porto play and takes shots of them. Possibly meeting Hulk again, that guy is huge.

I've already gathered all my stuff, played some football with my friends here in America, and ate a really good cheeseburger. If I type any more about it, I'll cry. :(

We're supposed to meet up with a very good friend of mine whose Portuguese and huge Porto fan. He'll be our guide and drive us around and show us where good places to eat are at.

By the way, my Portuguese is terrible I really hope I don't say the wrong thing. The good thing is that my girlfriend knows Portuguese really well and she'll be my translator.

I'm so glad I didn't have to wait 3 months to go, now I'll be there in a few hours. :D

I'm going to Paris! Whoo!




With my new job and all, I get to go to Paris for a couple of weeks! I'm bringing my girlfriend and we're going to take long strolls through a nice French park, listen to some Yelle, and go to fancy Frence restaurants.
I have a photography assignment for a magazine so I'm going to be spending a lot of time out in the city.
I'll be sure to post here and every now and then.
