Middlesbrough 3-1 Sheffield Wednesday

The day started with an early finish from college at 12pm before driving back home to find our morphsuits waiting for us.

It was like Christmas come early for Me & SmogMonster, slipping into some tight lycra is always a good sight on females but on me it looked even better.

http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs229.snc1/7628_134376110949_712095949_3028964_7408541_n.jpg

http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs229.snc1/7628_134376115949_712095949_3028965_7829086_n.jpg

Got to the Boro ground earlyish so decided to mess around in the morphsuits just for the delight of the watching crowd.

http://photos-d.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs209.snc1/7628_134376105949_712095949_3028963_1486149_n.jpg

Coach arrived and we got on and enjoyed some light hearted banter with a few of the drivers and passengers and set off for the Steel City.

A heavy convoy into the ground was required for the 2,500 strong Boro army and the policing seemed to be heavy, whether this is the norm at Hillsborough, I don't know.

Got into the ground and it was very nice, much bigger than I anticipated and the whole away end set to be packed for us.

http://photos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs229.snc1/7628_134376120949_712095949_3028966_1596976_n.jpg

As kick off neared the atmosphere in the ground intensified and with the England Three Lions drumming squad in the ground, the beat was on going throughout the game.

However, Boro got off to a familiar start with Seb Hines being a doyle allowing journeyman Luke Varney into to crash home a 1st minute goal much to the despair of the travelling fans, however, the boys and the fans didnt let our heads or singing drop and we were rewarded when Johnson swung in a great delivery and Wednesday defender Purse, got a nick on it and sent it past the despairing goalkeeper.

The fans were jubilant and willed Boro on for more and with Aliadiere probing more than a deep sea diver you could tell there were more goals in this one.

However, Wednesday also looked like they had their fair share of sperm in them and with Seb Hines looking lost Tudgay looked eager to pounce on this schoolboy defending.

Second Half

Boro were electric right from the word go and took the lead thanks to some horrific defending, first Purse's poor clearance allowed O'Neil to give the ball to Emnes and he slotted the ball between two Wednesday defenders to release Aliadiere who drove into the box and slashed home a left footed drive into the roof of the net to give Boro the lead.

Cue frenzied scenes.

Welalalala the deck in the melee and fans poured into the gangways to celebrate the goal which had given us a much deserved lead. Euphoric. Who said the Championship couldnt be entertaining.

Middlesbrough continued to dominate with Seb Hines being denied by a stunning save and Johnson going close.

Wednesday looked subdued however they improved after the introduction of Leon Clarke who seemed a canny player.

The game ticked on Boro saw the introduction of Leroy Lita and new boy Sean St Ledger who took the place of Hillsborough favourite Tony McMahon, who enjoyed a sturdy spell in Sheffield.

Michael Gray, the former dirty Mackem, was greeted with a torrent of abuse when he was substituted for Esajas, rightfully so as well.

The deal was sealed however in the 85th minute when Johnson cut inside on the edge of the area to fizz a right footed shot into the corner and finish Wednesday off and put us back into second place.

This goal capped off what has been one of our best displays for some time and the best away day I have ever experienced.

Below are some videos of the crowd reaction to comings and goings in the game.

Second Round - Carling Cup

The Forest away game was more of a throw away game rather than a planned trip as for tickets at £3 a pop it was just a get up and go kind of game.

Five of us made our way to Longbeck train station at about 2pm; Me, Wes(MFC__Wes), Alex, my brother Matty and his mate, Michael.

Arrived into Boro, found a hole in the wall, got some reading material and wandered to the ground where we got on the bus to Nottingham at 3.30pm.

The journey seemed a lengthy one and after a stop we made it into Nottingham at about 7pm where we went through Nottingham which was horrible and past the County Ground and Trent Bridge.

Got into the ground grabbed a sausage roll and made our way to our seats where it seemed like there was a healthy following for a Carling Cup game.

The Forest end was empty literally, must have been saving the pennies for the Derby game but the overall attendance worked out at just under 9,000 and just under 2,000 Middlesbrough fans.

Boro started the game at a good tempo and with the backing of the vociferous Boro support , Arca manufactured our best chance which saw Aliadiere have his shot saved onto the post.

The game went forwards and backwards for a spell of about 20 minutes with Blackstock and Earnshaw looking ineffective as Huth and Wheater stifled every opportunity going forward.

Boro looked lively going forward with Johnson and Emnes both finding room out wide and going close.

With Wes vanishing for food (as per usual), it saw Boro get the opener, good passing play allowed Williams to release Johnson who was in acres of space on the right and he drove into the box before slotting the ball under Smith and off the post for a Boro lead at half time.

60 minutes on the clock and the Forest fans finally woke up and with the introduction of Tyson, McGoldrick and the fantastic Dele Adebola, Forest looked threatening.

They brought the crowd to their feet not long after when Luke Chambers smashed his header home from a well crafted corner.

The Boro looked to be fading as did the crowd as sloppy passes went astray as Boro struggled to regain their foothold in the game.

Aliadiere saw the best chance of the 90 minutes as he was slipped through by Yeates and he went for power over placement and smashed the ball into the side netting when it looked easier to score, he was subsequently substituted after a head wound, thank fuck!

We went to extra time and it had all become a bit too much for one young delinquant in the Boro end after he hurled his shoes onto the pitch which bought a bit of humour to a crowd which were dismayed at Boro's lack of energy in the final third.

With young Franks and Bennett on now, Boro didnt have the experience to get them through the extra time and this showed, when I barnstorming run from Adebola found a young Polish man, dont know his name but he scored against Derby as well, and he cooly hit a low drive between Coyne and the post.

It looked set to stay that way when in the dying moments Johnathan Franks broke clear into the box and ripped a beauty of a cross right between the goal, Wes Morgan, the keeper and Leroy Lita, but somehow no-one was able to convert it and Boro limped out of the Carling Cup against an average Forest side.

Got on the Coach after the driver had lost his keys and arrived home at about 2am knowing that I didnt have to spend £5 to watch us against Blackburn at home and we could concentrate on the league.,

Middlesbrough 2-0 Slalalalahorpe United

The whole event started for me on the Monday morning when me and my brother got up at 7am and caught the 8:39am train from Longbeck to Darlington where we changed trains to the Kings Cross bound train.

We arrived in Doncaster train station about 10:30 where we were picked up and taken to where we would be staying for the two nights.

Tuesday morning came and there was that feeling where you know you're away from home, a good feeling 8)

Started drinking at about 1ish and got prepared for the big day ahead.

http://i429.photobucket.com/albums/q...g?t=1250698663

Arrived at the ground at about 6:45pm where we stood in a pub called the Old Farmhouse for about 30 minutes before making our way onto KFC and into the ground.

The atmosphere before the game was one of the best I have experienced since going away from home and this atmosphere was continued right throughout the game.

004-3.flv video by CarterMania - Photobucket

005-2.flv video by CarterMania - Photobucket

http://i429.photobucket.com/albums/qq20/CarterMania/009-2.jpg

Boro started the game at a decent pace with McMahon and Williams both getting into advanced positions, however it was Slalalalahorpe who carved out the better opportunities with Hayes going close but was thwarted by an impressive Coyne.

After about 20 minutes Boro were starting to get a foothold in the game and Emnes and Lita both went close as they looked lively in attack.

Boro rightfully took the lead after O'Neil found space on the left and angled a perfect ball into the path of Johnson and his cultured volley found the back of the net.

The travelling Boro Army erupted after a goal that had been on the cards for a while.

The second half started with a bang with Rhys Williams sterling run through the centre was rewarded with what appeared to be a very dubious penalty.

I couldnt see the reaction of the Scunny players because of various Boro fans going wild but I know that it wouldnt have been a very good reaction because the tracking player seemed to have won the ball.

Anyway, Johnson stepped up but his tame penalty was parried well by former Mackem Murphy but Johnson was alive to the rebound and he nudged it past the keeper before being brought down for what was certainly a penalty.

All of the Boro fans rushed down to the bottom row where they saw Johnson punish the ball into the net and madness ensued.

A few fans made it over the wall and onto the pitch but many were content with a place on the barrier wall where the celebrations were awesome.

The Slalalalahorpe players and fans were obviously incensed by the back to back penalties and it was when big German Rob Huth pushed over Hooper that temperatures reached boiling point. From our end it was hard to make out what happened with all 22 players and various fans getting involved in the far corner but it all ended up with Huth being cautioned, a chorus of "Teesside Aggro" chimed out from the away end as many agitated Scunny fans headed for the exit.

Lita and Emnes continued to prompt and probe whilst Boro fans buoyantly sang Tuncay's name as he warmed up in the Boro corner.

Tuncay's arrival onto the pitch was greeted with a warm set of applause from both fans on what could possibly be his last game for the club.

His introduction only added to the carnival atmosphere which really is a first for Boro's travelling fans after last years horror show on the road.

The full time whistle sounded and the Boro lads had firmly put their names on the Championship map and left 2,200 Boro fans over the moon with the way the team performed.

Man of the Match:

Even though AJ nicked all the headlines with his superb brace, I would give my man of the match to Tony McMahon whose typical attacking display helped Boro on numerous occasions going forward but he also won his fair share of headers and tackles at the back.
