Well I started up this thread a while ago and really enjoyed some of the ideas you guys were posting. But it then got moved to the Fifa 09 Feedback area and has since gone a bit off the boil. It basically ignored gameplay, online and all other major issues with Fifa and focussed on the small details that add to the realism of the in game experience.

So here are some of the best ideas:

Substitutes Warming up: A great idea IMO and something that would really add that extra layer of detail in a match situation. Players in track tops doing stretches or jogging on the side of the pitch would look wicked, they could also applaud the crowd and you could have chants for players warming up. (Rooney, Rooooney :))

Managers in the Technical Area: An idea similar to the subs one but probably slightly more difficult to implement. As manager models would have to be created from scratch. However this did work extremely well in Euro08 admittedly with a much smaller number of teams.

Less Cutscenes: What i'd really like to see in Fifa10 is less pre defined cutscenes and more in game events. So if a player gets a yellow card I want to see it on the in game camera, not a cutscene. The same thing goes for players showing descent, rolling around injured and being sent off. In real life theres no camera man on the pitch in players faces and there shouldn't be on Fifa. Goal and chance replays are ofcourse exempt.

4th Official: Last year we had the ref and linesman and this year it's the 4th official turn to step in to the limelight. It would be a great addition to see them holding up the extra time minutes and having subs stood next to them on the sidelines waiting to come on.

Net Effects: At the moment there is a defualt net style for every stadium in Fifa09 but in the real world nets are very different from stadium to stadium and country to country. 3 or 4 different net styles would hugely add to the realism of the game and make each stadium stand out a little more. After all we don't see much of the stands when actually in a Fifa match.

Feel free to add some more ideas and thoughts in the comments.

For complete realism in any Football sim there has to be true life AI results and AI tranfers. Both of which are currently lacking in the Fifa series but with a slight change of direction could be fantastic.

If I'm playing through an EPL season in MM and I've spent two seasons building my team in to title contenders if I'm not challenging for the title with the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool or Man U then i'll be honest I'm dissappointed. Yes we all want to see the top four's domination ended but not at the expense of realism or game difficulty. I don't want to win at a canter with Hull 2nd and Blackburn 3rd it's just not real. Also seeing Chelsea languishing in 16th after 20 games just shows the flaws in the games current AI results mechanic. It's simple to fix as well 5* teams are 5* for a reason so therefore in the Sim mechanics 5* teams should have a greater chance of defeating anything lower.

The next is probably Fifa's biggest problem the transfer system particularly the player transfer values and the main reason is "The Negotiator"

Now I'm all for upgrading scouts so you can find more hidden talent and spread your searches across the world. But upgrading a Negotiator?? No thanks. This should be axed from Fifa totally removed and never seen again. Simply because it doesn't matter wether your Barcelona or Yeovil town if your negotiator level is 10 you can sign anyone and i mean ANYONE! It's totally unrealistic and not true to life IMO.

So to fix it transfers should be based on 3 things player overall, club prestige and prestige difference.

Each club should be assigned a prestige rating similar to the player rating system so Man U are 91 , Barca 90, Chelsea 89 etc etc. So if Man U make an offer to Wigan (Prestige 70) for lets say Antonia Valencia they have a prestige difference of 21 against that club.

That should essentially allow United to get their man fairly easilly due to the prestige difference. But as Valencia is one of Wigan's best rated players this will add to transfer difficulty. So it's perhaps not as straight forward as the prestige difference suggests.

So for Man U to sign Messi from Barcelona with a prestige difference of only 1 and a player rating of 90 it would be essentially impossible. The transfer and wage fee would have to be huge for Barca to even consider selling their prize asset.

The prestige rating isn't necessarilly determined by league position either for instance Leeds and Nottingham Forest (both in lower leagues) will have a higher prestige than normal due to the clubs history.

This mechanic I feel could revamp the whole tansfer system making it more realistic and more difficult. Just remove the Negotiator its that simple, your the manager therefore you are The Negotiator, you choose the transfer offer and the wages it's your job not the negotiators.

Now just to start off I'd like to say this is my first blog on any forum or website ever, so bare with me!

I also just want to say what a great game I think Fifa09 is, there are problems yes and these are all well documented throughout this forum. But the reality is, no game is ever perfect particularly sports simulation and even if it was we'd have nothing to write about.

I'm going to be basing this Blog Series on the staple of any Football game "Manager Mode"

Quite simply for MM to be a success in Fifa10 it needs a total overhaul, we've been stuck with the same product for years now and it's time for radical change.

Right i'll start with dynamic weather and day and night cycles. This has to be in Fifa10 this year I can't comprehend another season without this simple feature. If I see one more bright sunny day on a european night I will officially implode. At the moment the realism of MM is totally destroyed by this alone and the fact that all this is currently available in BAP Seasons only adds to the confusion. Surely it's the same or similar coding??

The second is after suffering a season of sunny days and nights, the anti climax of actually winning anything is a tough pill to swallow. After dragging my team from obscurity to League Champions is surely a god like triumph? My managerial prowess should be heralded throught the football world and rose petals should fall from the sky and .........

Or in reality I recieve a Congratulations message and no cutscene containing anything remotely like a trophy. Any offline player can invest some serious hours in to MM and to not have any kind of serious recognition of your achievements is soul destroying. This is something PES has done brilliantly for years and it's now time EA stepped up to the plate. I want the trophy ceremony on the pitch, the lap of honour, the photos in front of the add boards, champagne the works.

Some kind of media article after all this and a realistic response from the board and supporters would also be welcome. EA look at your closest rival and take note.

Right well that was surprisingly easy, let me know what you think and I'll post part 2 if anyones at all interested. :)
