Default Good thing, bad thing?

I commend EA on their play for free strategy supported by advertising, i hate advertising in games if im not recieving any benefit from it and i think this is a great strategy as we are all winners

However, please please please dont let this be the only Battlefield game released this year, I WANT BATTLEFIELD 3........NOW!!!!!!!

End rant

Since they haven't dismissed BF3 in any way, just not made any comments on it, its highly probable its being looked at, although since DICE are working on Mirrors Edge at the minute, I wouldn't expect any comments until that's released.

Heroes could be fun - designed to be more accessible to a wider range of people and games match players with similar abilities apparently. The "micro-transactions" thing worries me a bit though. Is that going to mean whoever buys the most has the best kit?

no, on the bbc site they elaborated on the micro transactions, its only to change your look in game( presumably from a pre designed set as DICE said before they wouldnt allow people to add their own textures for players in case it was contraversial, unless they changed their thinking on the subject ), its not supposed to give anyone competitive advantages over others

Also the ads are supposed to be between matches/at the server select screen/menus and not in game, we'll see

I don't know what to think. Quotes like this:

Quote:
"I've always felt there was some really good fun core gameplay which was locked away by several barriers to entry: the game is complex, it is full of skilled people, you need quite a high-end PC on which to play and you need to go to store to purchase a copy."

"We're removing all barriers to entry and we hope there is broader audience for the title.
Basically say that they're making it as simple as possible, there will be no depth to the gameplay, you won't require skill to play it (they don't want some people doing better than others you see) etc.

Ie its going to be rubbish.

On the other hand it is free, and DICE have said that it is not Battlefield 3, so its not the end of the world.

I just hate the way EA have shamelessly copied valve with the visual style.

You know I think it's a good thing if BF3 gets announced. When people whine and go out of their way to complain about every thing they personally don't approve of, we can tell them to go and play Battlefield Heroes.

You know the way it works kiddies. We get a BF PC version, then wait a while and get a console version, then get a few add-on PC versions; and maybe additional PC versions, then an add-on console version (in the way of more maps), then more updates/maps in the PC versions.

Now, we're awaiting the next console installment, which is already a year behind its original release date. I'm guessing, when that has been out for a couple of months (predicted to be released in March 08 according to all games/PC stores and review sites); that we'll start to see announcements for BF3.

.....and then more add-ons for the console version, lol...

D.

none of you have pointed out that Dice have time to make a free game but not the time to patch BF2 or even tell us that there won't be another patch. innovation, no - stagnation, yes.

See lots has happened while I have been busy.

EA are no longer the market leader, Activision is. Anyway... ...

Well here we are 12 months down the line and many of the bugs I myself reported back then still remain in BF2.

Is BF2 Heroes a good idea, I would think many of us battlefield junkies will infact download it to have a peek at least.

While I am here I wonder have EA had a good read of the advertising Laws in the EU and UK as they will find it also applies to Internet based advertising, even those in game as such re BF2 Heroes. I am sure they have

I for one am looking forward to BF3 as it would appear on the face of things that EA have indeed learned there mistakes regarding BF2. But we shall see

Good to be back

Thx Kam
