Well that is good to know. You probably did something similar to what BioSoldier had mentioned. I did the same thing during testing before I made this thread. Which is why I updated my thread saying that certain settings may cause people to need to reset things. It is near the bottom of the main post.

@ ChurchiJo
I went ahead and updated the main post so that it has a link jumping to your post which shows your settings for your router. This way people do not have to search through everything to get to the router that they may have.

Default Nice one but...

Awww, bless ya for typing all that out!

I called EA today and MANY others have also done this so I don't know why it has not been mentioned on here by anyone as yet!

The gentleman on the phone was quick with the answer and knew exactly what I was talking about and he said it's simply to do with AOL users manily, so I was told.
Any other problems I don't know about and can't answer but all these recent connection problems are simply AOL updating their servers which has caused some kind of conflict.

It's nowt to do with upnp, routers, nat types or our PS3's which is great to hear and no other game I own has any problems online except for BC.

LOL

This thread was only started to help people with issues for their routers. And it says in it that it is not guaranteed to help everyone for all issues. It is just a guide for people to try and fix things on their end.

After all. Not everyone has lag or connection issues with this game to begin with.

Also.... You do know that I typed this up before the AOL update right.

Question though.... Isn't AOL a dial-up Internet Provider? Last time I looked it was. At least here in the US.

Default Hi...

Ahhh, LOL, yeah I know everyone has different internet providers and all kinds of probs occur so I guess I wanted to help just a little more with some latest info! Sorry bout that. )

Nah, AOL is not just dial up, well not in the UK, I have the upto 8mb with wireless router which runs wired direct to the main PC and wireless to a laptop and of course the PS3.

My connection has been fantastic with just a few lagging issues but nowt to really rant about but it's these latest connection issues which has been bugging me so I hope they deal with it soon, only time will tell I guess my friend!

All other games are fine, checked nearly all 40 of em last night! LOL.

OK... So they are like some sort of broadband service as well now.
Does it still stand for "American On-Line" like over here or is it called something different?

hey guys. just reconfigured my router because i am having problems getting into KZ2 multiplayer. now i'm putting the ps3 on dmz and set a proxy server for it. to my surprise connection is better for KZ2.

BUT...

i could not get into BC's multiplayer at all. i keep getting 'Connection to EA Online was lost'. ok here's the deal, is upnp 'that' important to this game because i turned that off, and i didn't have port forwarding going on since ps3 is already dmz-ed.

any suggestions?

UPnP is not relevant anymore since you have the machine in the DMZ and 2-way unrestricted access to it. Enabling UPnP allows the PS3 to 'ask' the router to open and forward ports to it (which is not necessary whilst it is in the DMZ).

Thanks. now that I have that part of the problem solved I don't need to bother about upnp config anymore. I'll try to figure out what's wrong with it now

I personally do not use the UPnP & DMZ. I keep those two options off on my setups. I do not mess around with Port Forwarding either.

So far KZ2 and Bad Company both run great for me.

What connection type are you using? Wired or Wireless?

I went back to my normal settngs today (no uPnP, fully firewalled, no port forwarding, no DMZ) and I managed to play no problem, but tomorrow who knows?

i'm using wired because i was never a fan of wireless unless it's for normal web browsing. it's weird because i have not been able to connect to any BC games at all but all my KZ2 tries are successful after only trying once.

of course there are hiccups in game but that's just normal. at least i can connect to a game. at the moment i am still trying, moving connections around.

OK FOUND THE CULPRIT

it's my psn connection. here's the deal, i have one US PSN ID that i use to buy DLC (rock band, and guitar hero). i tried to connect with that id, successful on first try. so i log out and try to connect again using my singapore psn id, failed. try again on US account, success on first try.

oh btw i live in Malaysia which is the big peninsular above singapore, we didn't have malaysian PSN yet so my main account is singapore's.

any idea why this might happen?

That is interesting. You may want to have the Support people from PSN look into it. Or at least ask them what it may be.
To me it sort of sounds like a regional thing. Maybe you have different settings tied to on the Singapore PSN compared to the US PSN.

Go ahead and turn it off and see how it works for you. Like I said above I do not use UPnP or DMZ settings.
I just have my settings for my router at default with the exception of Wireless security of coarse. Yet my default settings may be different as I am not sure what your default settings may be.

Just remember after you change your settings it may be good to go through your consoles connection settings again so that they mesh right.

I have one port forwarded (6000). Firewall is on and no DMZ. Right now UPnP is On but i will try turning it off to see if there is an effect.

I am not sure if you read the part in the main post about how the UDP should be 6000. But the I found that it shows up as 10000 in the routers Port Map Table. I am not sure if that would help you in any way. I do not even bother with it really.

i have a bad feeling that my id is on temporary ban from ea. some of my friends have this happened to them before. a japanese friend had to make 3 new accounts because all new accounts he created face the same problem over and over again.

anyway, i'm sending complaints to psn singapore and ea. see how it goes.

easier to put your ps3 in dmz. no port forwarding needed.

Just so that you all know I decided to remove this from the stickied area now. I wanted to clean up the stickies for this section.
I think it has severed it purpose so far and hopefully it will continue to help people with their router issues if they ever run into any. I still plan to add some info for my other router brands when I get a chance to as well.

I added it to my sig if anyone needs to get to it in the future and I also added a Tag to the thread it under the word "router".

BUMP!!!
This page shows all servers that BFBC uses, if you keep getting lag try setting up IP filters on your router to block addresses of servers not in your region:
http://seleukid.googlepages.com/BFBC_Servers.htm

This "may" help any lag issues you experience by keeping you on servers within your region (america, europe, asia).
NOTE that if you apply these rules to say block all USA servers. and try to join a USA friends game, you wont be able to.

Thanks to Thx_4_the_lag_EA for finding this info

Sticky anyone??

Can someone make a guide to Linksys router? I tried following the other for netgear and transferring it over but they are completely different.
