Think about this, how many FPS come out with a band new game mode on the level of Gold Rush? Not many, and to make one that is worth something takes months or years of trial and error, plus a lot of dedication. So I can say Conquest was never intended to be in the game, but I was one of a few that pushed to have it added.

And yes, PS3 Trophies are in.

Actually, I have a question for you Gordon. You state that "Find custom match on Conquest was fixed" but what about the custom search in Gold Rush, or has this been fixed as well?

Oh, and as an obligatory thing (I have to ask), can we have BackStab, BridgeTooFar or TheBlackGold yet? These are maps most of us from Modern Combat would really like to see make another appearance.

fix's look pretty good, shotgun distance is one few things it thought was stupid, and heli brushing tree's and blowing up was bit naff, so thats good.


i thought new maps were free, are they pay now?

In what way does Custom Match in Gold Rush not work for you?

Different Engine which means not technically feasible in BFBC.

You go to the custom match screen to select your game mode and preferred map, select your map (say, Final Ignition...) and end up with a completely different map than the one you asked for. While it seemlalalala and miss when your playing alone (Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't), it seems to be at it's worst in Squads. Both myself and quite a few people I regularily play with have noted this, even when the squad leader changes.

GVD.. quick question about the update, will squading up be fixed with this update or in the near future? i like many others have never been able to make or join a squad and have to rely soley on the join session feature. it would be awesome to actually be able to play in squads with people on my psn friendslist.

Helicopters
-Lowered hand weapons damage against Gunships, but .50 Cal weapons on Vehicles retain their damage against the Gunships.
-Increased missile speeds for the pilot
-Gunner MG’s time to overheat increased with splash damage reduced
-Gunships wont explode when touching one trees and now have a damage multiplier based on the speed of the Gunship. This means if you are flying very slow you can knock over trees and take Zero damage, but if you're at top speed 4-5 trees will destroy your Gunship.

this is the bit im mostly looking forward to.

I get the map I select on Gold Rush maybe 40-50% of the time at best. Happens with both squads and when alone.

The crouching movement / shot register glitch is a ***** too. It is really hard to get your hits to register when someone is crouched and moving. In fact, some players use this as the new equivalent of the "worm glitch" now, and will immediately kneel when they spot you, and move back and forward while they shoot.

Note: You have to put a significant amount of time in to realize this happens. Most people just think it is lag or they were out gunned.

I've seen this mentioned a few times but never came across it
myself.

Sure I usually crouch when engaging the enemy but that's only for
more accuracy and to make myself a smaller target - this moving
back and forth glitch can be fixed. I hope.

Gordon, could you not recreate the BF2 maps on Frostbite - using
the originals as a template?

TBQH w/ you Gordon, Gold RUsh is not that new of a concept. Most other games have traditionally called it "Assault" or some such, but it has been around for a long time. Granted Gold Rush pulled it off better IMO, but it's not really a new concept

Also, I find it hard to believe that Conquest wasn't intended in the first place being that Conquest is the STAPLE game mode of Battlefield.

I will take your word for it, but if someone truely thought to have battlefield without conquest, I am kinda shocked.

It might be me not reading/ understanding properly, but I undersand that the new maps won't support Gold Rush?

Is this true?

If it is, I'm stunned. Gold Rush is very enjoyable and it'd be a shame for it to drop out of peoples playlists. I've been playing GR a lot more again recently, and I don't want it to become obscure.

It is pretty simple. Gold Rush = 8 maps; Conquest = 4 maps + 4 new maps being released = 8 maps as well. As Gordon mentioned before that some maps are better suited for Gold Rush some for Conquest. Now all they need is to convert 8 more maps and make a Defend&Destroy mode since many people enjoy Gold Rush and what is better than to give fans double Gold Rush mode where both teams have crates, huh?

problem with Defend& Destroy.....

In GoldRush, you take a base, and the playing field moves. In Defend&Destroy it would get stretched out every time until eventually you had to drive all the way from 1 end of the map to the other. The only solution I can see is to only have 1 base each. maybe make it 3 crates just to make it a bit more. But then you don't have this nice effect of 8 gold rush maps providing something like 30-40 different battles. You would have 8 maps, each with a single battle.

Perhaps another alternative is to start at the center of a map, and when you destroy their base, your spawn point gets pushed foward, they get pushed back. Push an enemy off the map to win. That would at least allow for different battles on each map like GR (which IMO is what makes Gold Rush so fun) But then what happens if the last crates get destroyed at the same time?

Anyways, I don't really know if we need a new game mode, I think I would rather just get a bunch of new GR maps. Like 8 of em

Yes have to be smaller not expandable maps like with Conquest and yes 3 crates at least instead of 2 each. It will make a very intense battle, I remember playing it on Killzone 1 and it was just insane Basically D&D could be the best of Conquest and Gold Rush blended together, not that I hold any hopes.
