I really hope one of you guys can help? Bad Company on the PS3.
I can create a squad (fairly simple) and I can see myself in the squad, but I cannot get my friends to join my squad so that we can play together on the same team. When we try to get on the same squad in the multiplayer/custome match menu, I get an error?? We have both tried lots of ways to try and get on the same team, but have failed every time (join session etc...) but just get an error message. I can however get a game started where my friend is on the opposing team but I dont want this. Help me please! ![]() Thanks Neil |

Exit the BF:BC game completely then start it again, it usually sorts it out. Ask your friends to do the same maybe. Ultimately restart the console.
You shouldn't really need to do that as it seems like a bug, but for some reason after long playing your console 'gets stuck' in some configuration that becomes incompatible. |

Thanks for the replies.
I have tried the 'triangle' join session option, but that even throws up an error... something along the lines of "Error, cannot join. Game no longer exists" I really wanna get online, Bad Company is one of the all time greats for online play, just a shame its not that easy to get online with my mates. Anyone else got any suggestions? |

I think I might have sorted it?
Thanks once again to those people that have posted replies. What I have done is put my PS3 in the DMZ of my wireless router, got my friend to do the same thing and hey presto! it worked. I have only tried it once mind you, but it did work and we were on the same team. Woohoo! |

I have managed to get on the same team as my friend (using the join session method), but we are not in the same squad.
I still get the error when I try and accept an invite from a friend. It is SO annoying that this doesn't work properly, it would be great to be on the same squad, then I will be able to get the patch that says I have joined a friend's squad. It looks as though the update that has been released today might help the situation a little? I will check this out and post a reply. Thanks again for everyones posts. |

Anyone figured out another solution to this problem of joining friends squads other than turning the ps3 off and on again because thats never worked for us.
Its so annoying not being able to play in a squad with loads of my friends. |

We had this issue with Modern combat on the PS2, hence why I switched to the 360; and never saw this problem again, even with BFBC. I'm guessing it's a bug Sony has with connecting to the servers. Has anyone contacted Sony Support (chimp support - I know), but they may have another solution to the problem or mention as per usual "We're working on a solution to the problem."

I still haven't managed to do it successfully.
I am trying to get the 'With My Devil Dogs' patch, and for this I need to join my friends squad, or have him join mine. Still don't work. Surely other people must be experiencing this? Both my friend and I have our routers in the DMZ (saw this on another forum) but it doesn't work. HELP!!! |

OK, so I think I have got it.
It looks like it is a problem with NAT (Network Address Translation) on your router/firewall. You may have to add your PS3 into the DMZ (Demilitarized zone) which is less secure, but your only paling games online, so there isn't too much of an issue. If you don't want to add your PS3 to the DMZ, then you'll need to set up the correct port-forwarding on you router/firewall. I also read somewhere that if you are set to NAT type 3, you need NAT type 2 for Bad Company. Please note, I haven't tried this yet, but will try it when I finish work today and will post something tomorrow. |

So, I went home, I tried, I failed.
I really don't know why I cannot get online in the same squad as a friend. We both have our routers in the DMZ, I also have the port forwards although I don't need them because of the DMZ. We also have the same NAT type, which is type 2. I am totally stumped now, has anyone got any suggestions on how to fix this problem? ![]() Who are the people at EA that I need to speak toabout this problem? Oh by the way, I am on Sky Broadband Max (16Mb) and I get the full 16Mb throughput. My friend is on Sky Broadband Max too, he is hard-wired in and I am working off of the wireless. Have had no other problems with games such as Burnout Paradise or PES 2009. So my guess is that it is something to do with EA's servers or something? But I hear that people do actually manage to get online in the same squads??? I don't know, I have almost given up now!

Ok, I have to send a big thanks out to DJSY2008 for this.
He suggested that I put my PS3 in the DMZ, I have done this already but its not the only thing that makes it work. You have to also turn off UPNP, this can be found on your router settings, it was a checkbox on my Netgear wireless router. So to put it very clearly for you guys;
Happy Online Gaming!! Cheers for all of your posts on here guys! |
