Smile Potential Server Disconnect Fix

Thanks to jamielee over on the Multiplay Forums and a pm I had from shuggy23 we believe we had identified a fix for the server disconnect issue some of you have been reporting.

It seems the UPnP support on some routers including BT's Home Hub is one of the causes.

So if your seeing random server disconnects after playing for some time ~20mins on Bad Company 2 servers try disabling UPnP on your router.

If it helps let us know by voting on the poll and posting the make and model of your router as well as your ISP.

Updates:
* This fix only helps fix for lost connection "with server" not when EA Master servers go down.
* Some may find the following helpful with finding out how to make this change: http://portforward.com/

I have had UPnP on my netgear enabled since beta, never had a problem.

Thomson router here fixed it as well some days ago, this idea had been thrown around before and worked for some people.

Linksys WRT54G with uPNP enabled.

Works well in beta and now, seems better with port forwarding.

Tried disabling UPnP, didn't work. Got a DI-524 D-Link router.
Maybe it would be an idea to look into whether the problems only occur on rigs that are connected thru a router.
(Can't get a connection without going through my router...)

Just got it working around my router. Still get disconnected after a couple of minutes, though... So it's not a router problem here.

It seems to work on my Thomson TG585 v7.
Before deactivating upnp I got 1 disconnect each time I started the game after ~15 minutes. After that I could play without any disconnects. But with deactivating upnp It seem to work all the time. At least I got no disconnect the last 1 hour.

Also on a Thomson TG585 v7, with uPNP on woudl get alot of people running on spot then sever disconnect. Turned uPNP off now getting full game closing to desktop with no errors (which never happened yet).

Just can't win

Why don't you go ahead and try instead of asking others if it works???

Since the latest EA Server update the only issue I had was the "Lost Connection" during matches, using a BT HomeHub 1.0.

Disabling UPnP seems to have done the trick, seems I owe you a beer or three Thanks a million, just hope it helps others too.
