Default Vehicle packages - what do they do?

As there is nothing about the different vehicle specialization in the manual I try to collect here the different specialization and how they affect each vehicle/tool in BC2! You all are welcome to help me!

Vehicle motion sensor
Every vehicle has a motion sensor which reveals enemy units close to you on the map



Active armor package
Gives additional armor to every vehicle



Improved warheads package
Vehicles and tools do more damage



Alternate weapons package
Affects these vehicles (driver's secondary fire):

M3A3 Bradley - tow missile launcher
BMD-3 Bakhcha - mg
M1A2 Abrams - mg
T-90 MBT - mg

AH-64 Apache - adds a homing missile that can lock onto tracer darts
MI-28 Havoc - adds a homing missile that can lock onto tracer darts

UAV - mg



Smoke countermeasures package
affects these vehicles (driver's secondary fire, ~ 21 seconds to reload the smokelauncher):
M3A3 Bradley
BMD-3 Bakhcha
M1A2 Abrams
T-90 MBT
UAV
- smoke grenades




Quick reload package
affects every vehicles primary fire mode



High power optics
drivers get a zoom (secondary fire), this affects:

M3A3 Bradley
BMD-3 Bakhcha
M1A2 Abrams
T-90 MBT
UAV

yeah, its pretty powerful... about the same as the uav missile. But is nearly useless if your team doesnt use tracer darts... which a lot of the time dont

The heli gunner's alt-fire fires tacers.

I'd like to know if the packages your passengers have effect the vehicle as well, for instance unlocking alt-fire or giving you the zoom enhance.

Does the chopper gun alt fire always shoot tracer darts or does this come with the weapons package?

Ohh and the warhead package simply can't effect anything not vehicle related. That is c4 and other explosives. Although it does effect stationaries, since they're on the vehicles list and you get vehicle stars with them. At least that seems reasonable to me, warhead pack should work on stationaries, even if not, add them to the list as vehicles.

So that's why I didn't have an MG with the UAV.

Yeah MG on UAV is pretty much a suicide. Really hard to kill with, considering the instability of flight path and the low amount of damage it deals. Just gives you away and you go boom soon after.

Although the zoom enables you to maintain a very long range, at which only snipers can kill you. Even if an assault class chooses to kill you, he'd be spraying and you'll kill him before you kill him or hide away in trees.

So for UAV, in my opinion, zoom is the most effective. Considering that the reload package has faster reload, but less survivability. You'll end up getting killed and wait 5minutes for respawn so the reload package is kinda of a waste comparing to zoom for UAV.

BMD fires a TOW missile like the Bradley as far as I recall. Basically, the light tanks get the TOW and the MBTs get the MG

I find myself using zoom on the tanks in Africa Harbor as well. It's the best choice for that map IMO.

Go to Port Valdez, choose the Alt Wep package, see what Bakhcha will fire.

I've tried it and i can with 100% certainty say its a MG and nothing else, not even a TOW launcher.

they are two kinds of the bmd3 the one with the normal turret shooting those tank grenades. and the other one with the anti air on the top. this anti-air bmd is shooting those 40mm grenades which have high bullet drop. Im sure that there is a difference with the alternative weapons. i havent checked the aa bmd but i think its alternate weapon is a mg while the other one has the tow.

I just checked/tested the thing with the Blackhawk and the Flares as secondary Fire with Alt Weapons Spec.

There are No Flares and nothing else when using it and flying the Blackhawk - pretty much useless - my recommendation for Blackhawk pilots would be the Armor upgrad.

Great thread!

Wondering if anyone's tested which is best tank vs tank:

+25 armor
+25 damage
+25 reload

2 tanks shooting head-to-head - which one would prevail, or are they all pretty much even? Seems 25+ Armor and 25+ Damage would balance eachother out - wonder if the same for 25+ reload...

its not related to the topic but does anyone know why i sometimes when sitting in the passenger seat of a quadbike i can look to the front and sometimes not. it doesnt have to do anything with class or weapon. its probably a bug or maybe a feature. dunno.
