Default The BFBC2 Suggestions/Glitches/Bugs Compilation Thread (STICKY PLEASE)

(Credits to Devoldo for his exhaustive list!)
(Updated Daily!)


Please post your problems!

READ THIS FIRST:


1) ONLY post if you are contributing to the list.

2) Please use your browser's "Find" function to search for issues that you might have which are already listed (Ctrl + F).

3) Please keep spam to a MINIMUM. This means, don't post balancing issues
(such as "NERF NOOBTUBE").

4) The lists below are in no particular order.
5) Mods, please STICKY this thread, so we don't have repeat threads highlighting same issues.


Glitches/Bugs:

- Autobalance does not work. Currently games are being ruined by imbalanced teams. (more in Suggestions list)

- Ability to take a screenshot: screenshots are solid black frames when using screenshot button right now.

- Scoreboard does not always display ping on certain game types (Squad Deathmatch).


- Switching teams when you are dead, often makes you respawn in enemy territory on Rush Mode. This will cause you to die within 10 seconds once the timer runs out.

- Server info when loading tends to wander off designated text area when the message is too long. Causes Overlapping text.

- Server browser filter does not always filter correctly (I.E. search for a punkbuster server, end up getting into a non-punkbuster server, etc.)

- Not able to chat at the end of a round. (occurs when player is dead when the round ends)

- Points gained after death are not awarded at all (I.E. Killing enemy with a grenade after they have killed you, the game shows 50 points are awarded, but they are not added to your total round score). Only points awarded on death are simultaneous kills (I.E. Killing both you and an enemy at the same time with grenade).

- After a round, sometimes the win or lose screen does not execute properly, showing your first-person view, but you cannot move and the screen glitches in trying to do so.

- Various friend's list issues including short names not being added correctly; also unable to join a friends server via friend's list.

- GUI issues while playing HardCore mode (some elements stay on screen [minimap, ticket count, squad selection, etc] which is fixed by pressing ESC).

- Vsync option is not working for certain users (some have fixed this issue by either editing their settings.ini file, or forcing vsync through their video driver's control panel).

- Sound settings (hi-fi, wartapes, etc.) reset upon exit of game.


- Vehicle optics zoom in sometimes doesn't work or gets stuck in zoomed in mode.

- Certain vehicle weapons fire inconsistently (heli and APC cannon), sometimes firing bursts other time firing just 1 shot.


- Users with ATI cards are experiencing longer-than-normal load times between rounds, usually having 3x the load times as NVIDIA card users (Example: 30sec+ wait times with Core i7 + HD5870). [especially on DX10] Example: Can we get YouTube videos of map load time (ATI vs Nvidia)

- Users with ATI cards in Crossfire, also have reported texture flashing/glitching when reverting back to fullscreen mode from windowed mode. (much like the problem existing in beta)

- Helicopters still rubberband when hit by AA (Also chopper acting as a "lawn mower", bouncing into the ground taking no damage).

- Dead white pixel in the bottom right-hand corner.

- Dead pixels on letterbox bars in singleplayer.

Scrollwheel becomes "inverted" while trying to change weapon when sprinting

- Iron sights/Gun models should scale with FOV.


- After a round, many times the "Unlock Progression" page will not show your next upgrades for any class. It will just have 0's across the board, and nothing to unlock.

- "Awards Collected" descriptions on the Stats page point to dates that are before the BC2 release date. Doesn't point to the actual date/time awards are received by players (Example: "Awards Collected 2007/12/31 19:00").


- 4x ACOG scope & Red Dot Sight disappear on Assault kit when using 40mm grenade launcher (this includes smoke and shotgun variations too). Example: YouTube - Bad Company 2 Visual Bug report video

- The "Play Now" button occasionally tries to connect to password-enabled servers.


- Alt + Tab (Minimize to desktop) does not work. Only works when you have other windows open and can switch to them.

- Knife is glitched. This is known as the "knife lunge" or "flying knife" when someone automatically knifes at a distance. Example: BC2 knife flying - Xfire Video

- Spotting doesn't function properly many of the times (Example: 1. after spawning, no "spot" attempts are made 2. have the crosshair pointed directly at an enemy tank and press "Q" 3. enemy tank doesn't register as a spot).

- Joystick issues (inverted controls, unable to center, better mapping for functions in game).

Textures flicker on many maps, including misplaced ships and buildings. Applies to dissapearing objects/walls. Examples: [BUG] Giant ship on top of the Panama Canal / YouTube - BattleField Bad Company 2 - Bugs

- The built-in VOIP does not work.

- The UAV station, when operating UAV, has a graphical positional problem, making the UAV station appear to be "floating" and not stationary. Example: YouTube - Battlefield Bad Company 2 UAV GLITCH

- Pings aren't showing up in the Steam version even after running the program as Administrator to give it full access. I have some (about 10 of the servers in the browser) showing a ping of 999 the rest show up as - mark.

- The unlock progression of a specific item (defibrillator for example) does not show up if you have used it after picking up someone else's kit before you have gained access to it yourself. It will show up (eventually) as the next unlock for the medic class, just not in the details of the item.


- Malfunctioning C4 (does not always detonate).

- Fix the M14 description or the amount of ammo in the clip (description says 20 rounds in a clip, but it's only 10).

- FOV keeps resetting to 55 in singleplayer every time a cut scene plays.


- Dog Tags collection screen has UI bug for numbers over 3 digits. Example: [Bug] Over 1000 dogtags - bugged display

- The wartapes sound option makes louder sounds like gunfire and bomb explosions very static-like. Crackling can be heard only in this sound mode.

- Smoke GL malfunctions. Either does not detonate or does not show as detonated on users screen. Example: YouTube - Bad Company 2 - Smoke GL not working.

- Flight sticks don't function fully with this game (no yaw/throttle).

- Bullets passing through walls only leave holes on 1 side.

- Shotgun crosshairs still appear despite the server crosshair option turned off.

- Quadbike horn can't be heard by other players.


- Sending friend invites is very inconsistent. Many times, it will take multiple tries to have a friend receive the invitation.

- When spawning on a quadbike, you are able to view 360° instead of 180°.

- Bugged reload animation for the Neostad 2000.

- No squad text chat in vehicles.


- Isla Innocentes-specific building glitch for MCOM's. Destroying fence next to building, levels the building, effectively destroying the MCOM in the process. Example: YouTube - Knife vs building

- M1 Garand kills go towards the stats of M1A1 Thompson instead of the M1 Garand.

- MG36 default scope has no crosshair/red dot in hardcore mode when zoomed in.

- MG36 has no crosshair in both normal/hardcore modes (crosshair appears/reappears intermittently after shooting the gun).


- MG36 scope cannot equip red dot/4x ACOG scope in both normal/hardcore modes.

- "Most Scored By" Section shows more kills on a weapon than the cumulative kills for that round. Example:



- MG shield will sometimes block your view, instead of enabling you to see through it (could be DX9-specific bug). Example:




- 4x ACOG scope for different weapons "float" 1-2 inches in front of scope's model. Example:




- Award Scores at the end of a match are bugged (3x silver stars + more, should be at least 3.5k+ but got 1.5k instead). Example:




- Awards (medals) are bugged when being awarded. Many times, it gives more medals than actually achieved. Possible bug-inducing scenario: If you die right when a "medal achieved" or "dog tag" is awarded, you get it again after respawning. This results in achieving duplicate "awards" in the results screen. Example:



- MEDK R+ and MEDK H+ descriptions are swapped. Example:


Suggestions (that REALLY would help):


- Colorblind mode should be implemented. (teammates & enemies trianges are indistinguishable on the mini-map or when spotting to those who are colorblind).

- Increase the points received for achieving objective missions (destroying MCOM's, capturing Conquest flags and winning matches).
At the moment there is not a significant motivation to capture objectives and winning matches due to the small amount of points being awarded. This encourages camping and makes sniping very attractive.

- Ability to chat after dying: this includes seeing other people's chat.

- Chat Log: so you can see who said what, if you missed a few lines.

-
Ability to check scoreboard while dead.

- Autobalance teams by moving individuals around that are not already in a squad with friends (if necessary, move an entire/part of a squad who are on each others friend's list).

- Cap the amount of players per team, so people cannot switch teams voluntarily to break the balance. (I.E. have 16 people max on on team for a 32-player game).

- Negative Mouse Acceleration needs to be looked at.

-
Spectator Mode: for referees who want to monitor competitive matches.

- Ability to customize ticket count for matches.

- Ability to see the Round Time:
time remaining.

- Ability to restart round.

- Ability to view the ticket count at the end of a round.


- Pre-game spawn timer (at the start of a round): allow 10-15 seconds so everyone has time to load.

- Post-game timer: allow 10-15 seconds (time for everyone to say their gg's and discuss briefly).

- Ability to bind ENTER and TAB keys on keyboard.

- More optimizations for better load % on GPU's.

- UAV and Helicopter Controls have opposing inverted controls. Needs switching or ability to customize.


- FOV slider in video settings menu (rather than manually editing settings.ini).

- Custom weapon load-outs/preferences should be saved per user until changed, instead of resetting per round/game.


- Ability to toggle Crouch and Aim Down Sight.

- Separate mouse sensitivity setting for on foot, in vehicle (also sensitivity for turret aiming), and helicopter.

- Ability to lock mini-map rotation (A battlefield series standard).

- Include a Compass in the HUD: because it makes calling out enemy directions universal and a lot simpler (not just calling out "left" and "right").

- Removal of Kill/Death stat in rush/conquest modes on scoreboard (kills team play).

- Addition of "Connect to IP" in the server browser options.

Addition of more server filters: Hardcore Mode, No Killcam, etc.

-
Ability for game to remember filter settings, instead of resetting each time.

-
Repair tool indicator when repairing vehicles in hardcore mode.

- Allow different keys for picking up kits and arming MCOM's. (problems arise when you have too many kits around MCOM, and pressing the "use" key will make you pick up kits instead of arming/disarming).

- Ability to delete Soldiers from account.

- Let servers run mixed game-modes (I.E. alternate between conquest and rush)


- Add a Queue (wait-list) system for joining full servers.


- Ability to have Iron Sight for Assault kit's 40mm Grenade Launcher/Shotgun in Hardcore mode.

- Ability to have Iron Sight for Tracer Dart Pistol in Hardcore mode.

- Change the Conquest "siren" sound to be a different one, be quieter, or have it only ring a limited amount of times (at the moment, the siren is too loud and covers other important audio cues).


- Ability of server admins to enable Hardcore damage in normal servers.

- Remove the "invincibility" of a soldier after being revived by teammates.

- M14, G3 should be able to use the Red Dot Sight and the x4 ACOG scope.


- Star Awards information on Results screen don't show which weapon the star was awarded to. It only shows the amount of points awarded (applies to bronze/silver/gold).


- Allow auto-login when signing in. Have the game save the preference for the default soldier used.

- There is currently no indicator on the GUI of when you are using Voice Chat and when others are speaking in Voice Chat. Hard to tell who is talking.


- Display the class of everyone on the team in the Scoreboard (TAB).

- Replace the large green arrow of yourself on map with a regular sized, different color arrow (yellow). The current triangle covers teammates' triangles in close quarters.

- Add an "overtime" to Rush Mode. When tickets reach 0, defending team needs to kill all the attackers remaining on the battlefield before winning. Attacking team cannot respawn/revive once 0 tickets are reached.


- Often when you enter the password, it also types this in the server name filter field.

- Chat should display a little bit longer.

- Usability: The squads panel pulls out over the kit selection on the bottom. Even at a low 1024x768 resolution there is plenty of room to move the kit selection bar down. Then the squad panel and the kit panels can pull out to the same area on the 'top right'. It could be made so that opening either of the panels closes the other.


- Option to choose the firing mode for weapons (burst/single-shot).

- Add a way for players to delete server history via in game menu instead of via editing their INI file.

- Put an option to enable/disable helicopters auto stabilization.

- The stationary AA-gun is not listed in the list of stationary weapons. You can't see how many kills you got with it and there are no star associated with it.


- Enable minimap or indicators in Hardcore mode for: 1) Medics, to revive teammates; 2) Recon, to make use of Motion Sensors.

- Award Stars for reviving/repairing, just as stars are awarded for kills on weapons.

- Missing "hardcore" mode in server description during the loading screen.

- Let there be notifications when friends sign onto BC2 or when they join a server/game.

- Allow players to directly connect to a friend's game and leave the current one, without having to exit to Main screen.


- Ability to use wheel mouse up/down as bindable keys.

FIXED!

- Scoreboard text overlaps (Kill/death text overlaps onto Ping).

- GOL Magnum Sniper with 4x ACOG Scope & Red Dot Sight has graphical errors (The graphical glitch protrudes from behind the scope area, and moves according to which direction you point the weapon).

- Game is not actually shutting down after Exiting the game in the Steam version, the process .exe stays running until you use Task Manager to shut it down.

- Possible to get stuck half way trying to jump through certain windows, have to die or suicide to get out (happened on singleplayer too).
Unlikely to be fixed.

- EA disconnects, CTD's, Punkbuster, Unable to login problems. Noted as issues and work is ongoing to fix such issues.

- When joining servers, server browser will often say "Please Wait" and then does nothing. Repeated attempts at joining the same server will not make this problem go away.

- Ping in-game differs from real ping (usually 50-100ms difference). In-game ping refers to latency.

- M1 Garand does not appear in-game for Battlefield Veterans after entering code.

- Some unlocks don't unlock at the required levels/experience. (Example: Ceramic Body Armor says level 12 required, but actually unlocks at a higher level/experience than level 12).

- Floor texture glitching after explosion: YouTube - BFBC2 Surface blown up. Unlikely to be fixed.

- No squad repair points if a squadmember stays on the second /gunner seat.

- "Floating window" after destroying wall. Also, there are textures still visible from the grenade explosion on the wall. Unlikely to be fixed.

-Shadows are very pixelated. Max AA/AF & all HIGH settings won't help smooth out the jagged shadow edges. Unlikely to be fixed.

What do you use currently to take Screenshots?? If you can just download fraps most people use that for videos and SC's over default. But I would have that last on the list of things right now to fix.

The crosshair thing has been going on since Beta so yes hopefully they will get that fixed sometime soon. Again prolly toward the end of their list.

As far as everything else you say if exactly the same things I am experiencing. I was workin on my own list but ya beat me to it!!

I gotta say man you have made the best BUG thread I have seen from start of Beta till now. Gotta say thanks for the hard work you did by noting all these and taking the screenshots for actual proof. This is what people should do with bugs/problems with a recently released game instead of bashing EA/DICE.

Again bro nice job, good work this should deff. be a sticky.

Thanks, and I've gotta give a lot of credit to the others who have contributed to making lists also, like Devoldo.

I just hope a mod can sticky even one "compiled" bug/suggestions thread, not necessarily mine, so we can have 1 place to post problems.

Also, I use FRAPS for taking screenshots right now.

Can you add my issue? (I'm sure other people have it)

When we launch the client, it just hangs on us, and gives us a black screen. Have to end the process, and nothing I've done helps.

+1 to sticky

Also maybe a fix for odd kill counts at end of rounds. Total kills is less then overall kills with a single weapon. This happens in almost every game.

Ok here's a few bugs I think you've missed.

MG36 scope has no red dot in hardcore mode.
Vehicle optics zoom in sometimes doesn't work or gets stuck in zoomed in mode.
Possible to get stuck half way trying to jump through certain windows, have to die or suicide to get out (happened on singleplayer too).
Certain vehicle weapons fire inconsistently (heli and APC cannon), sometimes firing bursts other time firing just 1 shot.
Arm/disarm a MCOM when a kit is nearby picks up the kit.

When you've died and then are revived, it still counts as a death for you.

Yeah, I never really understood what the "Most Scored By" section meant. It shows a higher kill count than the kills during that round.

It'd probably be better if this were accompanied with a list of your computer specs. Also if you have different computers to install it on, that might be a elimination process you can go through to test what is wrong with it.

I think the reason for the last one is, the kits nearby override the MCOM arm/disarm when someone presses "E". So this would be mostly a design decision that DICE made.

I added the last one into suggestions, and suggested there be 2 different keys. One for arming/disarming, other for picking up kits.

Hm, it's really hard to say, since I don't have the exact same specs to test for you. It could be anything from drivers to hardware/os that are causing the problem.

Best bet is to make a new thread and see if anyone else with same configuration has identical problems.

It's a reload time, each shot gets loaded individually i think, unlike a magazine in a gun. Leave it long enough you can fire as normal.

I'm not sure if this was built into the game design or not,
but if you try firing the grenade launcher anywhere within 7 feet around you (like at your feet), the grenade won't explode at all, no matter how many times you do it.

Unless your situation is talking about the grenade launcher at a distance.

Please remove the K/D ratio from the scoreboard, it loweres teamplay like nothing else.

I can't find any posts about the 'hit register' and believe me I've tried....

....The hit register seems awfully screwed up atm, I kill/are killed by 2 shots sometimes and other times it takes half a clip. I'm talking about similar scenarios, similar weapons and range.

Is anyone else finding this to be so and have dice acknowledged the problem, or am I suffering alone lol ?

Ofc it could just be lag as the ping, even on 'local' servers, is way higher than it ought to be.

most assault weapons, when mounted with RedDot or Acog, switch to original sights when equiping the Grenade Launcher / shotgun / smoke Launcher (seen on AN94, M16A2, M416 and Steyr Aug)

play now also tries to connect you to pw servers, which isn't all that helpful

I dunno if anyone has posted this but - all Ati users probably rememebers the texture glitches with crossfire in the beta. If I press ctrl + enter to put the game in windowed mode during a game that glitch "comes back" when I go back to fullscreen again.
