Have you even see them?

Those games are freaking beautifull and the companies support them
Rise of flight is like the Crysis of flight sims in terms of visuals.
Wings of prey looks awsome also, bit more arcadey though.

Bohemia has open beta testing of their patches which they keep doing for
YEARS after they release a game. They even removed the DVD check
on the lastest Arma 2 patch [1.05]

We need to throw our support behind the smaller companies because
they are doing what game companies used to do in the old days
create games for the sake of ART and not money.

If it's half as good as NS1, I might never leave it

Damn didn't expect that from DICE, they aren't that much better than IW after all.

Nice looking game might have to try that myself. I wonder if it will have a console ingame?

Ugh looks like somebody missed the point of my post.

Yes I have seen them. They look like amazing games and I appreciate the continued support that the devs give.

BUT go to someone in the street and ask them if they have heard of Battlefield series or CoD series then ask if they have ever heard of ARMA.

It is the issue of brand recognition I was getting at here, not the quality of the game itself. Did you see people go mad for the release for MW2? Yes. Did you see the same for the release of ARMA2? No, you didn't.

Look at the big competitive FPSs: CoD series, BF series, Quake, UT, CS. All now pretty mainstream "AAA" stuff. Its a shame smaller companies that really support PC PROPERLY don't get the recognition they deserve

It looks very good indeed; goddamn it why all the half life mods couldnt get to this detail? Used to enjoy Fire Arms very much.

That's the beauty of PC gaming. We do not need the big companies or AAA titles to get us entertained, there will always be some coders out there delivering amazing products.

Heck, at this point even Altitude has better servers options than BC2. I'm disappointed indeed.

You guys have to remember BC2 was orginally designed for consoles. So if we keep begging them it might be possible they would include a patch to let us mod the game in the future! Either way BF3 will be real deal and if they decide to go down the same road IW went with MW2 then we can all scream hysterically.

Games from the 90's have better server options than BC2

And now look at the system requirements after looking at the screenies. That's what I call optimised!

(Although the lack of more open environments makes it easier it still looks real nice for the required specs imo)

"1.2 GHz Processor, 256MB RAM, a DirectX 9 level graphics card, Windows Vista/2000/XP, mouse, keyboard and an internet connection"

I want to start a PC Dev Company.

NS1 was a half life mod, those guys went on to found their own company, created their own engine themselves, because they didn't think source was going to cut it. NS2 will be releasing their alpha client for preorder customers soon. They are funded by fans preordering, so if you are an NS1 fan, you may wanna consider it.

The best part about natural selection isn't even sleek graphics, it's the depth and strategy of the FPS. It's one of those games that skill always shines through.

As I've said before, that would have been fine by most of us if DICE hadn't said the things it said after MW2 was released. We expected a bit more than what's currently offered.

A shame really.

Their silence and lack of screens/videos speaks volumes....

dumbed down console port and very likely DLC.

Can recommend S2Games, unbelievable awsome gamecompany. They made Savage 1 & 2 and currently doing Heroes of Newerth(DotA predecessor). You see atleast 10-30 dev-posts a day in the forums and they answer in the ingame chat also.
Never seen so much enthusiasm from gamedevelopers before, think DICE have something to learn from them.

If it's a serious question in the forums you can expect an answer when they see it, it's not being ignored like DICE and other "big" gamecompanies do.

From what I have seen what DICE does, like 80% of the questions they answer are like: "When is the release date?"

But when it's a serious question like:
"What kind servertools can we expect? What rcon's will be available?"
Then it's like /ignore.

I know its a HL mod. Fire Arms was also a HL mod; very good indeed, used to enjoy it more than regular counter strike. For me the best mod for HL was Day of Defeat; one hell of a mod.

I tried heroes of newerth out a little, it was pretty interesting I guess. Not quite my cup of tea.

Despite not enjoying the actual game HoN I have to say their community relations speaks volumes for their company.

HoN in still in beta, but I have played over 450 matches which are like 20-90min each. I mean it's a awsome game if you liked DotA, but it's not very friendly to new people since it's all about teamplay.
They'll probably work some guides out before they release it. And it's PC exclusive ofc, with console =)

The few matches I did play, I got screamed at. haha. That didn't bother me, not sure what I think about it, I'll wait to see it at release.

To be honest I think that many of the devs actually want to talk to the community more, but they have a certain big giant shadow looming over them and don't want them to tell their "secrets". And I wouldn't be surprised if they actually did work.. with something...

But it's still no excuse for removing the dev console, record and so on. Sure, serverfiles are one thing, they don't want them get hacked but it's a bit... "meh" reason. Don't give the hackers a reason to hack it then!

Anyway I might just be making no sense at all seeing as I'm quite tired... but something good must be there... somewhere.

We have not removed a console from BC2. The simple reason is that BC1 and BC2 never have had an in-game console. Which also means that the game won't be possible to hack in this regard.

Thanks for replying but I'm sure that most of us here would much rather put up with a few hackers (which could then be kicked and banned from our dedicated servers) than go without a console. Surely you and many other at DICE understand that, right?

Even if you still won't put a console in, is there still the ability to edit any config files manually?
