Default BC2: Server Update R16

Following on from the Beta R16 thread it now seems to have become official..

Thank you to everyone that provided feedback on the R16 Beta yesterday. The Beta was successful, which brings us onto the Official R16 release with the following changes:

- Rubber banding / lag issues fixed. This was caused by ServerAdminLogs 'flushing' after each entry.
- Infantry only now available on Ranked Servers (not fully tested.) To enable INF only, add 'levelVars.set all vehiclesDisabled true' to your Startup.txt.
- Bugfixed: banList.remove command (it would hang the server.)
- Bugfixed: Setting a long ServerDescription could make the server stop with an error.

R16 is an optional update and can be installed by login to KillerCreation Game Panel - Login and going to Game Servers > click your BC2 server > Game Updates and select R16 Build.

The update will take approx 30 seconds to install and restart your game server. Please note: Although this is an optional update, all servers will be forced to R16 by Sunday, 4th at 5am BST (assuming no issues are found.)

I wouldn't say this is fixed, but slightly improved, still got complaints of lag after installing this patch yesterday and we own a dedicated machine to host our servers so its not hardware or network related. It is however better then the night before, just sayin.

Not sure if this affects all GSP's but KC have updated all their servers now -

It would be better if it wasn't an optional update.
It must be a "must-have" update, because there are still many laggy R15 server out there

sry, i didn't read the "all server are forced to use it"

That's what I'm not sure about. Every Killercreation server is now R16 but we also have a Multiplay server and they've made absolutely no mention of an update at all.

I guess you'd still get the lag/rubber banding when the log buffers are flushed, just not as often. I'm assuming they are now flushed periodically instead of after every entry.

I still have a suspicion that server hardware has something to do with it, as I saw the rubber banding on some servers but not others. This was on the first day the patch was released, so it's nothing to do with R16.

I'd avoid Multiplay ones, they stack as many game servers onto one rack as possible. Killercreation ones are fine for me.

Yeah, KC servers are my regulars, since they tend to be higher in the ping-sorted server list than the Multiplay ones for me. I've never had any problems with them, it's only when I venture onto a random server that I tend to get problems.

With Inf Only true, crosshair ist enabled even if you disabled it via Startup.txt.

lag free hear, R15 was bad when server side logging was enabled but as soon as we disabled that it was good to go, R16 = R15 with logging off as far as performance is concerned.
