Just verified, we have not made any changes to the second or so invincibility you get when being revived.
We are looking at how best to redesign the feature to allow the not so BF savvy players to keep in game playing without being killed every time they stand up. So it is a future feature we will be looking into.

Thats one possibility, mortally and critically wounded states where mortally wounded can't be revived.

Headshotted players not revivable would certainly be nice. However, by that logic people dying from explosives wouldn't be raised either, but I don't even want to imagine how CG use would skyrocket AGAIN after that change. But something definitely needs to be done about res invulnerability, it's insane right now. Run around a corner where someone just got ressed, and you end up trying to shoot the ressed person, and you die because your bullets do nothing. Yay. And of course in many cases both people there were medics so no idea who you should be shooting to have a chance of a kill anyway

My suggestion, make it harder to revive. And only count deaths on respawn.
Then it wouldn't be an issue getting killed over and over, because it's not messing up people stats, nor is it hurting the team. As for making it harder to revive players, I mean make it so you can't be just running past a corpse and magically revive them, make medics have to put themselves at risk in order to pull off a successful revival. Then medics would think twice about running across a hotspot just to instantly zap, revive, and cause the death of another player. I really don't think revive protection is needed, as this affects even the newest of players. "BF savvy players" already abuse this system by mass rolling medics and revive spamming each other. So new players have close to no way to counter this because, players get protected, and can instantly be brought up by a medic. There is no skill what so ever to reviving at the moment. |

Baza why cant it be made so this feature can be turned on and off, give the choice to the server owners and gamers.
So set a server variable that will either leave it alone or turn it off. That way everyone is happy and the competitive scene wont wonder off playing something else... IMO DICE would be best to try and make server variables for many more things like this and surely it cant be that hard to implement but then again i havent seen your source code

There are plenty of ways to statpad already.
But removing death count from revive would affect everyone, and every ones KDR would rise so it wouldn't matter anyways. Edit: Just as an example, I've seen players with i.e 5/1. They died on a killstreak of 5. They get +1 death. Then some idiotic medic who cares more about his score (statpadding) than actually helping the person. Just sits behind the guy, zapping the guy back, the guy stands up disoriented acting as a meat shield for the medic then fires a shot at his attacker and instantly dies. Soon enough the medic is on top of the scoreboard with like 1/0. While the guy with 5/1 now has 5/10. Medics are the real statpadders to worry about. The BF2 model would be good, if get blasted by c4 or anti-tank you cant be revived. Really give the CG moaners something to moan about.
If you are looking at revive, you should also look at the Z indicating dead players being in the wrong location (on minimap) or not visible (on screen).

The worst part about revive spam is that it's way to easy to make it work even, because if you wanna revive someone, you generally can, even if you die in the process. It's very difficult to keep a Medic from reviving someone, even if you're camping them, because the whole process is instant. He just needs to touch them, and suddenly, the other guy is back to life with full health and invulnerable for a second or so. When this happens between several medics you can see how "invulnerable chain revive" can be an issue. A small "arming"-like buffer would mean that it would still be possible to revive people close to the fight, but at least you wouldn't be able to revive someone under direct attack, as you'd be killed before the revive was over. |
