Default Spawn LAG fix(at least for me by now...)

Added both the game folder and the "my documents/BFBC2"(or something like that...) to the resident shield exceptions on AVG, oddly enough, it worked for me.
Good luck you all
EDIT: Checked and confirmed in some servers
See, someone that can talk better than I do...

REASON FOR THE RESPAWN FREEZ:

Your anti-virus(AV) is causing the respawn freez. As a DICE-member stated earlier the problems most likely lies in the saved class file. Every time you respawn the game checks the GameSettings.ini file for class configs, and the AV got some of problem with this, making the game freez for a second, sometimes more.

SOLUTION FOR THE RESPAWN FREEZ:

Add the BFBC2 folder in your "My Documents" to the anti-viruses exeptions-list. [ I've checked, and its the only folder who needs to be added ]
Ex: "C:/Users/[NAME]/My Documents/BFBC2/"

If you are wondring how to make an exeption like this, check this: LINK

^^Careful with that one, not sure if fully disabling a feature for the game's sake is just such a good idea...

Open Avira.

Hit F8, and enable Expert mode:

In the settings for GUARD, navigate to your BFBC2 folder under Documents and Settings or Users, depending of what OS you use.

Then you´re ready for a stutter-free BC2 experience (at least in my case it fixed the stuttering).

If you are using AVG, open the interface, double tap the resident shield, and add folder path to the exceptions, this is meant for the people having spawn lag/delay issues.

Well now thats news, lemme guess, whats your antivirus and, does it have a "resident shield" feature? If so, try adding the game and "my documents/BFBC2" folders to the exceptions list, that is, it does not check over and over the files you use(I can be wrong here, dont trust me much).
AFAIK the AVG user run fine after it, keep us posted!!

Snipa has just posted something that baza said, that it might not be related to AVG at all...
Oddly tho I tried same server before and after doing the folders thingy and it worked...and yes, got in the same server(was even the same round...).
So...well see...

I'll try with NOD32...

Adding My Documents/BFBC2 to NOD32 > AMON > Exclusions ... will report back!

Using Avast and noticed lag/spawn problems. Not at home to test disabling the service...not sure why it would mess with it.

You guys know that most AV suite's are a resource hog and almost all have a "Active Guard" "Live Scanner" "Real Time Scanning" or something like that? As it implies, it scans everything (files) that is being accessed/uploaded/downloaded.

I use Avira because it's has a rep of being a "lite" app in terms of sucking up resources and its live scanner doesnt seem to slow my system at all...

This is the only fix I've ever found on this forum to actually work for me!

Thank you for finding this before we got bombarded with the regular "ideas" most people seem to get. lol.

My favorite is the one where they tell you to add commands to your settings file that don't exist. lalalala

I am using AVG and this indeed fixed the spawn lag for me. Thanks I wonder if the same method works for other antivirus softwares?

Well, I got told ingame to do this fix, first thing was post it, then test it...
You know the resultl now so i feel happy for those that have been able to fix the issue, but, there are still some peeps reporting this very same issue with there own antiviruses, I would guess that same "sort" of solution should work...
On the other hand, I read in some post by Baza that this has to do with the server changes from R10-R11...Now you can say we have a bit of a coincidence that it fails one minute, and after the "fix", the server has magically got the R11 upgrade and you got lucky and lost all your spawn delay...

EDIT:tons'o typos, I need a rest...

Using AVG (Win XP) as well and it worked.
Thank you very much for sharing that information with us

Does seem like a minor problem (mistake by the devs) and should be in control soon

greets

That's not it. I was just on a server where everybody else was complaining of the spawn lag. I however didn't have it after the avg thing. So I asked them what A/V they were using and a couple said AVG.

It seems like the new patch does something that some anti-viruses want to investigate. This could be the patch's fault or even an anti-virus update that's a little too aggressive.

AVG is the most terrible AV you can find
sure it's good if you're running a pentium 1 350mhz and 128 ram and don't have hardware to run a better AV

you get so many false positive alerts
