I would pay good money for DLC of a few of the old classic maps:
Karkand 32 player (with all the same flag caps) Wake 32 (of course you cant have jets, but a good few choppers would be nice. Dalian 32 player. I mean surely the map dynamics for supporting 32 players are already there, so it would just be a case of rendering it with the frostbyte 2.0 engine? So DICE if you wana make a few extra quid I’m pretty sure there are 100,000+ people who would pay to play the above maps on BC2. If not give us the tools and we'll make it.

Its not the point of some that would pay... I say bring on the maps and charge reasonably.. like 5 maps 10$ and you cant say that 10$ is too much, i spend 6-7x as much on a weekends night out... Given that they already have wake island in 1943, its common sense that they can tweak it out for bc2.
but new maps are not needed yet.. fix the damn dx9 bugs, tweak the guns, give g3 its red dot and things like that. This game needs serious polishing |

I think this is like a dictatorship; the ones that get it at the beginning are against and die to fight it, the new generation that born under it think that is normal to live in such system.
DLC is the same thing, on consoles now a days is DLC here, DLC there, and more DLC somewhere…, on the PC (we are talking at FPS on this case) a few years ago a game with DLC would not go far, now a days I can see some senseless people talking about paying for maps that already exist…, paying for a patch for a game (topic that exists on this same forum)…, don’t you guys think it’s best to turn this right now like MMORPG and we pay the now basically standard 14.99 euros month? At least then you guys will have for sure support for the game non stop! We don’t have mood tolls for “n” factors, ok, I can agree with that…, is there a really good factor for us not having map editor? I would really love for each client/server patch DICE/EA release people that want then would have to pay, oh joy. BamouT Last edited by BamouT; 12-04-2010 at 10:23 AM. |

DICE have already pledged that all map dlc will be free. So if those maps are made, you will not have to pay a dime for it

Because of people like you, companies like Activision believe it is ok to charge 15$ for 3 new maps and 2 old maps that look exactly the same. Great going moron, it's not like they're trying to squeeze the money out of us already, let's give them more ideas yes?

Even if they charge a subscription for FPS - I still think EA would be rolling out the old : "we are looking into it, it will be announced when ready, it was a bank holiday, watch this space" etc etc, because they would still have your money. It seems that pc games are in a category of their own, in terms of consumer rights, there is no actual objective definition of what constitutes "working" - therefore they can be released in virtually any state. Some people cant play at all, others can only play sometimes, but even those who can play are only able to use a limited number of features. Things like server lag and poor hit registration are also down to a poorly finished product. Charging for a few maps is the thin end of the wedge and is definetly something that EA like, as it allows them to cobble together the leftover development scraps and make more money. I would oppose it strongly, things are bad enough already without actually suggesting they can charge more money before they have even rectified the abundant flaws in this game. In order to break even with me, they would have to get the game working fully this week and then maybe release maps free as a thank you for waiting around for them to get the game to the state it should have been on release day.

All you idiots only let DICE think they can sell us everything, which they shouldnt. Dont be so egoistic, maybe you like paying for that lalalala, but 80% of all PC players dont want to pay for DLC, nor have the money for it.

I'd like to see Karkand, but not in some dumbed down arica-harbor-conquest way, but the original, 1:1 conversion.

Recreating Karkand with the type of houses that it is built up of in BF2 in a fully destructible environment and with the ability to enter each and every house on every floor and at the same time keep an acceptable performance would not be possible right now with the amount of destruction currently in the game. Making these buildings indestructible and closing off all indoor areas would also not be consistent with the rest of the game as it is. I actually had to scale down the size of the town in Arica Harbor a number of times during production in order to get an acceptable performance in addition of removing some buildings that was cut during development. It's not just "a case of rendering it with the Frostbyte 2.0 " Karkand has a very static environment. Only a few buildings lets you go inside them, no building takes any damage what so ever and only a couple of banger objects has any destruction. So in BC2, a full blown Karkand is not going to happen. |
