Server R9 Preview

Our server will be upgraded to R9 next week.

R9 changelog below:

· admin.say command implemented
- the output currently looks a bit funky on the game client, like so: Player: [Server]: <text>
but with the next game client it will look like: Server: <text>

· admin.yell to squad has changed (you need to specify both team and squad)

· squad numbering has changed – the “no squad” squad has ID 0, and real squads are 1 and up.

· Autobalance improved, it shuffles people both during and between rounds now, and does a better job. No way to turn it off via admin interface yet I think.

· mapList* commands reworked

· banList* commands reworked

· listPlayers command added

· admin.listPlayers command reworked (GUID, kills, deaths, ping and score added)

· Players have non-PB GUIDs now (these are distinct from PB GUIDs)

· onChat event reworked
- now it specifies target player subset as well
- shows text before profanity filtering
- client-originated chat messages starting with “/” make it to the server, and broadcast via onChat, but are not broadcast to other game clients
- use “/!<command>” if you want to be able to send commands to your homemade rcon tools without showing the commands to other players

· player.onAuthenticated added (it’s triggered when a player receives GUID)

· player.onSquadChange, player.onTeamChange implemented

· Couple of crash fixes

· Support for “region” setting

Useless. No Reg fix or improved latency to servers. I find this useless I don't care for team balance etc. Not saying this bad either any improvement is a good improvement but when is REG going to be addressed its a server side issue for the most part.Worst april fools patch yet..

Every new feature presented by whoever is considered to be Aprils fools joke. Resulting in pretty much not believing anything.

Oddly enough, I had the best night ever tonight (since the game came out) on an R8 server. I don't question what you're saying, though. I think that I just got very lucky tonight.

I rather stick to Uk forums because devs actually reply here. US forums are filled with troll kids and do nothing but troll the trolls and feed on each other (had 800+ posts there, so i had quite some experience with them).

OK, so then you are saying the list is legitimate (not a joke). It doesn't look outrageous, so I can believe it. The only thing that threw me off was:

... the "I think" at the end, like they weren't certain how it worked. If this list was straight from a developer, I don't think they'd say that (but if it was from your server provider, I could see that).

How would you suggest they implement autobalance?

I had been told last week by my GSP that there would be a new GUID for a player. Don't quiet see the point myself, isn't the PB one enough ?

But yeah seems like a legit fix/addition list. Guess we will get this when Dice get back off their jollies

I'd asume that it will first of all switch those guys without a squad. And probably after that whole, small squads.
