Default renderaheadlimit 0 = 20 extra fps

i changed it to zero after reading a post on here and i went from avarage 40 fps to 60fps and i think its worth making a thread of. more people should try this.

documents/bfbc2beta/settings

do it now!

Here's something interesting. I don't have RenderAheadLimit in my settings.ini.

So er, do i have to add it in or should it have been added by the game after it was updated :/

heres what Baza said..

Quote:
  • Reduced input "lag"
On machines where the CPU would out-run the GPU, sometimes the GPU would queue up several frames' worth of rendering commands.
This could lead to the game having a high framerate, but input still feeling very sluggish.
Now there's a limiter on how many frames the CPU is allowed to be "ahead" of the GPU.
Control this setting via Settings.ini. Default setting: RenderAheadLimit=2

Has anybody else tried setting it to 0? And if so, any difference?

Confirmed. Just put it to 0 and joined a full server with max settings and got about 10-20 fps increase.

Confirmed, but the thing that it fixes is the inputlag/sluggishness is when I'm in a big battle and there's a lot going on on the screen. With value 2 I can't aim at all, but when I use value 0 I have better performance and no sluggish movement.

Specs:
E8500 @ 4ghz
GTX 275 @ about 100mhz OC at GPU/VRAM
4gb 800mhz ram
Win 7 Pro

Could be a fix for 200 series? or all GPUs as a whole?

and by default it's =2, it's like they want us to whine about low fps :P
you can continue making "I LAG THIS GAME SUCKS" threads

force them make it =0, by default not =2 which kills fps

On the contrary, if i set mine to 0, i actually get a huge loss in FPS, especially when scoping in with the sniper. When I have renderahead limit = 0, i get 28fps nearly consistent across the board when scoping in. With render set at 2 (default) I get 36-40fps when zoomed in. When render is set to "20" or "10" it seems to stay the same as when it is set to "2". I never have any mouse input lag.

Specs:
ATI Radeon 5770 @ 1030/1400
Intel i7 920 @ 3.36Ghz
6gb DDR3 @ 9-9-9-24

That is very strange...something like that shouldn't affect that. I tested it out with an Nvidia Geforce GTS 250 1gb VRAM.

Had this for a long time to 0 forced via the nvidia control panel. Helps a lot with input lag.

RenderAheadLimit=0 disables the input lag fix and returns to the behavior of the first beta release, which the majority had more input lag & performances issues.

Thanks Repii. I'll keep it at 2 then. Will it make a difference if I change it to 3... Will it have even less input lag?

Repii, would increasing it to a higher number possibly improve performance if using a high end CPU? As I said in a previous post, I have increased it to 20 with no difference in performance. It also seems this setting has a very big effect on FPS when scoping in with the sniper rifle.

Care to comment, please?
