Default Competitive Gaming with Rush Mode

Hello guys,

in an ESL forum thread we're currently discussing how to play the Rush mode competitively. The problem occuring is how to calculate the result since the end screen only tells if the round was won or lost, but lacks any other informations. If you calculate the result by winner or loser of the round it will probably lead to alot of draws. Different processes of the game like Team A being able to rush to Base 3 with barely losing any tickets and Team B being trapped at the first Base losing all tickets do not come into account when judged only on the endscreen.

In Battlefield 2 there were two different endscreens. One showing which team won including the tickets and the other one being a scoreboard displaying Score, Teamscore, Kills, Deaths, Tickets of the current and previous games. Out of this it was easy to calculate the winner of a game.

In Bad Company 2 there are no scoreboards delivered. It would be great, if DICE could add a Scoreboard after each finished round displaying informations like Tickets at the end of capturing each base and in total, time needed to capture each base and in total, player statistics (points, teamscore, kills, deaths, etc).

Thanks for taking care of this, it would make competitive gaming using the Rush mode possible.

I think you can actually see the scoreboard in one of the tabs when you see your own results of the round.

But it still lags the Kill/Death Ratio, and with every captured objective reseting the tickets to 75 it is not possible to find a winner if both teams get to the second point crate and then fail

how about time?
if it ends in a draw (both teams win): the fastest team wins.
if both teams lose.. no idea

You can't get a draw while defending.

In competitive gaming you have two play two rounds on one map, so that each team has attacked and defended once. If both teams winor lose their round it's a draw.

@ S c h m e b i

Time would be a great measurement too.

How about really calling it a draw, if both teams do not manage to destroy one station? Wouldn't hurt in my opinion. Plus: The chance for that should be very low

(oh! and time would be nice, considering the mode is called 'rush' )

Competitive gameplay will most certainly be the new squad v. squad mode. Rush requires too many players.

I laugh at this so called "competitive gaming". It's only about hacking and bragging about who's [removed].

(I beg your pardon for the use of 1337-speak and [removed], but it doesn't get censored this way)

Pff, gaming...a sport. If it would be on a Wii it could be called sport since you actually move...but not on a PC, Xbox or PS. The only time you move is when you're flailing your arms in despair because of the spawnkiller...

It would be perfect if we could start a 4on4 Squad Rush AND 8on8 CONQUEST season.

So everybody should be happy with this.
8on8 Rush is a nobrainer and will not satisfye any BF veteran, it's fun now because it's newbut on the long run it's also very very limiting in tactics due to mapdesign, favours camping and it gets boring/frustrating too after a while.

8on8 or even 12on12 sometimes Conquest offers much more possibilities and epicness.

4on4 SquadRush would be perfect for smaller teams or as a second possibility for all, it adds a lot IF some minor things like a scoreboard, timer and a 30 seconds or so "cooldown phase" (not all have the same hardware)before a match starts after reloading a map would be integrated.

How many mTw, Fnatic, Reason, H2k or Dignitas players have you seen hacking at LAN, may I ask?

Well, we couldn't avoid it getting discussed as we were all hungry for a new BF title on PC.
Still, we need to wait until March, then we'll see how much it is a pure pub game and what we can do with it competetivewise.

I know that there will be a blog out soon about rcon tool and so on, but I really want to know as soon as possible what a serveradmin's possbilities are.

If you take a look at the serverdetails when picking one in the browser you already can see some important stuff, still I have 1 question:

To what extent will we be able to restrict/force certain unlocks/gadgets on UNRANKED servers.
If there is a really powerfull rcon, a clanmod won't be that neccessary (well no mods anyway will be possible soon).

Neither do I roll into Austria telling people they're the original Nazis...

Competitive gaming ? Sorry, it's a joke. It's by far the most boring and restricting way to play a game. With all those rules and restrictions telling you to play like this only, why the hell not just play Counter-Strike instead ?

This is not meant to be a "competitive game" made for "virtual sports". Neither are 99% of the games out there, but someone alway has to bring this up. "Oh, it would be cool to do X and Y, make the game support X and Y" and then restricting the use of X and Y...

Though, from a few points of view, I have to agree with you guys.

@therealdrifter92

Noone forces you to play by this rules and if you dont give a poo about competitive gaming, i wont blame you. But then please stop trying to create a flamewar. Let the people who want to talk about it talk about it.

Yes but without a ticket count or K/D you cant determine who won. If both teams get to crate "2" you get back to 75 Tickets and then you bleed out...noone knows who won.
