FORTY-FIED MULTIPLAYER
EA hasn't yet made any announcements about the multiplayer side of the game. The only thing we know for certain is that 40 people will be able to duke it out on to servers when the sequel hits rather than Bad Company's previous player cap of 24. New game modes and plenty of maps a shoo-in however, that's what sequels are made for after all.

It's OXM so... anyways, GameSpice says they'll have a multiplayer article next week so maybe that's when the multiplayer embargo will be lifted for other sites as well and it'll make things more clear.

wow....that would be freaking awsome....i did see a interview saying they were happy with 24...i just hope uping the player count like this means they are going to invest in better servers, because the ones now will not be able to take 40...but i hope this is true

im just sayin I (ill repeat) I would like it to stay 24 but i no that every 1 i know or dont know wants it to be 40 or more plus ps3 n possibally xbox can handle 60ish players (well ps3 can tho) but anyway pc n console should be same or then too many people would get angry n probaly wont buy it but if there are more numbers of people allowed to play on pc then it should be like 10 or less more cus then its kl but not more than 10. so on console between 24 n 44ish people n on pc like 32 to 50 players thats even i think but that would be gd

I'm content with 24 players if this turns out to be bogus. I'd be stoked if it was 32 or higher since that'll usher in the iconic Black Hawks. A lot of misconceptions about PS3/X360's online capabilities, I guess Microsoft did a good job grooming their customers to see 16 players as the "only way" and anything above is a miracle. From a non-techie perspective, I see consoles as the superior alternative if I was a developer since they have uniform architecture as opposed to the PC market and I don't think 40 players is far-fetched for PS3/X360, especially since DICE will have experience coding for both machines with a much more optimized Frostbite engine (explosion that would take 20 kb/s in Bf:BC could only take half that in the sequel).

40 too much, I actually prefer when its 14 or 16 ina room, gives you chance to live for 2 seconds and think tactically.

24 or 40, I could care less if they bumped up the slots, as long as they continue to make a great Multiplayer game like the first, i'll still love it. <33

The issue her eis that xbox live is p2p for online gaming and to rent a dedicated server, it costs ALOT of money but on the ps3 its cheap and easy. MAG will support 256 players online and thats a ps3 only game.

its clear that teh achillies of this game is teh 360 and its xbox live p2p network

They better have dedicated servers supporting high numbers of players.

Not if they use dedicated servers.
