Wht was the best BF?

I convinced BF2 was the best followed by 1942 and 2142. The worst was Heroes followed by Modern Combat.

In an attempt to unbias this thread... I posted links in other sections

My overall opinion on why BF2 is the best

• High pace (Low delay in actions, fast running, quick maneuvering)
• Multirole (FPS, specialized kits,complete vehicle operation, squad leader, commander)
• Simple objective - conquest (a combination of capture the flag and team death match)
• Large maps in combination with high player counts
• Stats - too some extent if you earn them they give you a sense of accomplishment... except purple hearts and death streaks
• Set in modern times (This is just opinion)
• Fully customizable controls (This is major set back in most console games)
• Decent graphics and sound (Destroyable environments sound good at first, but once you have no where to take cover from fire its no so great anymore)
• Teamwork based
• Spawn location selection
• Vehicles (BF2 had the best chopper control, had jets, mounted defense positions, and multiple other ground vehicles) I will say that the gunners seat in armored vehicles on BFBC was done better, but nothing else.
• Server based (its never hard to find familiar faces and choose what criteria you feel like playing on server based games such as what map you would like to be on. MW2 only lets you pick a game mode on console)
• Skill based combat rather than unlocks and crutches for noobs

It would nice to have some forum option that the polls appear to every subforum. Espesially in this case, when it concerns all the BF games.


No doubt the best is BF2, for me. Then 1942.

BF2 for sure, so many good times on that game. Some of the most epic matches ive played. A very close second is BF1942. Vietnam too, jeez, i miss them days.

For me , BF2 is the best followed by 2142.

And worst been , the very bad and horrible and totally dreadful BC-2.

DICE should have left that thing on the consoles , they like that type of Run & Gun junk.

There is a few other things the game needs to have and some stuff it should not have but i could only fit so much in my sig.

1) BF3 should have a '' real and working Commo rose '' just like other Battlefields.

2) BF3 should have no less than 7 kits.

3) BF3 should have a commander , but maybe limit his view to spotting enemies while at the command screen , no random spotting.

4) BF3 noob tubes should have a damage radius like that of BF2 and not that of BC-2.

5) BF3 conquest should have more than 3-4 flags.

6) BF3 sniper rifles should all need a 2 shot body kill or 1 head shot.

7) A minumin number of 64 players , so if that means doing away with the destrution , then so be it.

BF2 was the best, no doubt. I would still be playing it if it had had destructive buildings which BFBC2 has. Another downside was that there wasn't movable ships or submarines in BF2, but in every other way BF2 beats all other games, not only Battlefield ones. (and on my opinion BF2142 was just a not so good mod of BF2).

On BC2 forums there has been two polls about best Battlefield game. In first BC2 won and BF2 was second. On second poll BF2 won decisively.

Voted for BF2, but I love 1942 also.

BF3 don't need big splashing (+30 killing enemy etc etc) text and popping awards in the middle of the screen, a discrete text in the lower/upper corner is enough.

BF3 don't need a pile of extra sounds which don't have any purpose except to annoy players, like launching rockets, these are also create shaking effects when player is nearby, overflying jets etc etc.

BF3 don't need perks and other unlock system like BC2, BF2 system was perfect, rank up for a new gun, 1-2 per class not for a bunch of rifles like in BC2.

BF3 must require from player longer game time to earn ranks (not too much, to avoid stats padding)

BF3 must have bigger maps suitable for 64 players and variety of vehicles (including jets), proper squads, VOIP and teamplay.

Basically BF3 should be improved BF2, I don't need destruction stuff really.

BF3 should also not have 4ft X 4ft head , hit boxes , ** cough cough ** BC-2 ** coughcough **.

In BC2 , you can aim for the torso and score a head shot kill from any range , very close , close , mid , long and extream ranges all get lucky head shot , its just way too easy and makes the game total rubbish.

I loved how BF2 played. Just the large maps, vehicles, jets, etc. You just can't get that with BFBC2. I think the unlock system was great just the ranking took a tad too long. All I want is something not totally hard to get but nothing like bad company's unlock system. Just a tad bit easier from the BF2 way and it would be perfect!

BF2 is the best in terms of content, but it's full of 24/7 Strike at Karkand servers (worst map in BF2 due to nadespam and infantry padders).

I have to say it's clearly Battlefield 2. I played BF42 but I didn't like it as much as I like BF2.

BF2 for sure then 1943 (i didn't play online but the was great single player so i which i had a new disc to go online)

Bad company 2 was to much like a call of duty not a battlefield

Bring on BF3
needs to pretty much the same as bf2 but with all the bad company features like the destructible environments and the great sound

- jets
-commrose
-proper helis
-proper squads
-large 64 player maps !!!

but just think why would dice NOW give us pc gamer a good game after ditching us pc gamers
