Default Punkbuster issue RESOLVED

So Evenbalance has informed us that the lag causing issue in BF2142 has been resolved with the help of some of you. Thank you if you helped Evenbalance with their investigations.
If you experience unusual lag please report it here (we can't help it if your 56k modem doesn't give you <50 ping though )

So, just to clarify, can we assume that the automatic PB updates have/will resolve this for each player?

Might have to manually update punkbuster via the pbsetup.exe. done this myself after reading the thread. However I haven't tried it to see if it does fix the lag but the pb.exe did update acouple of files for 2142.

It is a shame it took so long but Evenbalance couldn't recreate the lag so had to work with players to get it to happen and then investigate that way what the cause was.

If you still have lag, do as zen_uk187 mentions and do a manual PB update.

the bigger shame is that we had to notify them of this problem. and initially they denied anything wrong on their part and told us to contact EA. EB didn't even know their s*it was messed up.

now let's get on with finishing the PATCH please!
finish line is close.
after this, hopefully you devs won't have to do anything more with 2142.
just get it right this time...

Yes, that was pretty ridiculous. And even if they honestly couldn't reproduce it on their own, there is no excuse for taking as long as they did to work with us to resolve it.

I'm afraid the damage has been done, as I have been 'unable' to play the game for the last week or two because the server/player count is in the toilet.

I don't play 32 player servers (or 64's with 32 players on...). If all that will be left is 32 player games with Gib/Suez, then my 2142 days are over.

yea this punkbuster fiasco has killed server population... sad.
as if it wasn't bad enough with people who left due to server crashing and frustrating bugs.

Bazajaytee, please take a look in Battlefield 2142 again, the leaderboards are hacked again. When do you finally protect us ? People leave the game overnight only to see their accounts being hacked and received million of points. Please add a Lock in the 1.51 patch so people can't deliver millions of points at once. It happend to a friend of me too, his account was hacked, and he played with it legit for years. Only thing EA did was resetting him. So please, what about some protection ? And I hope this isnt possible in Bad Company 2 anymore that 3rd persons can hack some1s account and add points so you reset the accounts because of hacking.
Sincerely, a long term BF customer.

I'm still getting a punkbuster kick upon entering any server. Tried every method known, updated all my programs, went through firewalls, updated PB, updated BF2142 and still getting kicked...

Actually I might think its because the servers run a different version, so they don't match.

I had the same issue and contacted EvenBalance directly in the end. They asked for more information, but my issue magically resolved itself out of the blue (no, I don't suspect EvenBalance resolved it on the hush hush ). I would contact them and see what they say: you might have ended up on a black list by accident.

Other things to check are:
- download manual updater and ensure that you are up-to-date: PunkBuster Online Countermeasures
- double check your internet bandwidth:
Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test
Namesco BroadbandMax ADSL Broadband Bandwidth speedtest | Test your ADSL Broadband connection speed
- if you have file sharing programs ensure that you have limited or disabled them
- temporarily(!) disable your firewall/internet security software. if that works then you need to add both PNKBSTRA and PNKBSTRB to the exception list so that PunkBuster can get out on to the internet.
- Flag the BF2142 lanuch icon as running under compatibility mode and running with administrative privileges: Right-click on the icon, click on PROPRTIES, click on the COMPATBILITY tab. Tick the 'RUN THIS PROGRAM IN COMPATIBILITY MODE FOR' tickbox, select WINDOWS XP (SERVICE PACK 3). Click on the 'RUN THIS PROGRAM AS AN ADMINISTRATOR' tickbox. Click OK.

RESOLVED

What I did to resolve was delete all Punkbuster programs, and do a re-install of Battlefield with v1.5, and not even update Punkbuster at all. So it seems the newer versions aren't working.

I have a doubt ... I can not play multiplayer in Battlfield 2. The game is always the warning that the connection is bad. But I do not know how to solve it. Someone can help me?
