Good points well made.

I suppose at the end of the day the new maps will be great at helping to breath new life into the game, and it was wrong of me to confuse unrelated elements of the game there.

I'm just worried by the regular attacks on the game stats database, and I hope that whatever issue was letting all that go on can be sorted out along with the update's release.

Also, little things like the minimap scale resetting itself every time you bring up the map screen or the command screen ...after you have to set the minimap back to the scale it was on before, and you do it like a hundred times in a game, you start to really hope that the next update will sort it out, and it's kind of disappointing that the main programmer is too tied up with BFBC2 or whatever to sort out those sort of things.

That's minor though. Incredibly minor. I wouldn't be surprised if the programmer died of boredom whist doing that.

I'm surprised, you talk of how you want the big bugs fixed like the leaderboards and the server crashes - but then you also complain about having to press "N" a couple of times?

Give me strength...

J Brice, THANKS!

Looks like a Northern Strike style map, which would fit right into including NS in the patch. I like the mini-map names Overall, the map looks incredibly detailed from those 2 screenshots, and looks like you did put quite a bit of time into it. (Reminds me of Liberation of Leipzig. Did you create that map too, J Brice?)

Either way, looking great! You've now made us all want more. Gotta get permission to get screens of the other map(s) too!

Thanks again. Nice job.

- CandidPdx

EDIT: On closer look, seems like Goliath tracks? Hmm. I hope it's in this map. I love the Goliath... not because I can sit in it and do nothing... but because I can grab my Pilum and kill all the lazy/"invincible" soldiers inside

EDIT 2: I see a speeder in the mini-map!

jb, are we going to be able to play some of these "NS" maps without goliaths? i hope so!

i'm guessing those tread marks on the snow are from goliaths though.

THE MAP INDEED HAS A GOLIATH (although no flag can be capped by sitting in the Goliath)...A FEW MECS, AND A SPEEDER OR TWO. IT IS 64, 32, 16 ASSAULT LINES. I cannot reveal name at this time. (and no, I did not do Leipzig...all time favorites there).

As far as Titan maps, we did have one in the works, but most likely wont make the build, as it was submitted a little late. However, with the release of free Northern Strike Content, most (since they don't have NS) will be getting two new titan maps from that.

I will say that everyone should have the CORRECT build for 1.5, with northern strike included. This will make the install go much smoother...ya'all can get a head start on that now. Making a full patch for this would be difficult, as the current 1.51 build is around 1.1 gigs, which means a full patch would entail a couple gigs at least...way too big of a download.

Despite all of what you have heard, you are still in for some great surprises. I'm sure there will be some good/bad comments...Just remember this...

A lot of people have donated their time, and efforts to make this possible. Please have respect for all of us, as we did not GAIN anything financially from this experience...WE SIMPLY LOVE THE GAME, and WANT TO SEE PEOPLE CONTINUING THEIR FUN WITH 2142.

Thanks Brice, for the two new maps and all the work you have put into them. I look forward to the patch, I hope the patch will encourage more people to play Battlefield 2142. Since it is a great game.

If you guys could do that, that would solve all my CD problems and simplify communicating with friends in game.

I hope the pearl map supports titan or has that been discussed already?

3 posts up is your answer!!!

But a quick question, would it be possible to have a incremental patch without NS? As I see no need downloading it if I've already got it installed and working...

J Brice,
Thanks for all the info! We would love to see that additional Titan map. But (speaking for myself) only if it doesn't delay the patch. I'd rather have the patch 'as is' without the Titan map than to have it delayed any further.

Wow just realized your 2nd screenshot shows 7 control points. Must be a huge 64 map, or very close combat.

Fruity-Tootie,
I highly doubt an incremental patch without NS will come out. (Who knows, though?) You would need it anyway if there are any fixes/updates to the existing NS maps/vehicles/soldiers/etc.

nah, NS needs to be in the patch which will hopefully fix reg issues forcing manual changes, just to be able to play NS maps.

I wouldn't mind seeing a fix for the shields in land vehicles as they don't always work. I'm not talking about after i've been hit by an EMP either.

Keep up the good work.

I for one appreciate all the hard work going into BF2142, it's my favorite FPS game of all time. I just wish that a lot of bugs were fixed. I won't list them one since it seems every forum on the net has them listed or they are on youtube videos along with all the exploits and glitches.

I love this game but patch after patch things get neglected as if they are unsolvable. That is my biggest disappointment. Sadly the game is so much fun to me that i still play it but the bugs are reminders that something is just not right with DICE. It could be so much better. Yes add the new content and then fix the long list of reproducable bugs. You do that and i'll buy BC2 on day 1.

Thanks to Jason for the new maps and thanks to DICE for giving NS free to all (i paid for it) and for supporting the game this far out. Just please do an update focused on fixing bugs only. I've participated in BETAS for previous patches and bugs that were there on BETA 1 still make it to release. Instead of one programmer maybe they should put a team of 10 for a week or too just focused on bugs. I don't know maybe i'm just being naive but there has got to be someone on the DICE team that can sort this out for us.

can you fix the punkbuster issues with the current non steam 2142 version when running through steam? It always kicks us for an 'illegal program' which is actually steam...

amen brother, that is the story of this game in its current state. i don't know whether the lack of resolution of certain issues are from lack of effort or it being too difficult to fix, but its been very disappointing to see them go through 3 years' worth of patches and be ignored. but when i think about issues like verdun UAV titan exploit, EU transport gun, kit customization, inability to spawn on titan, it doesn't seem to me like they can't be fixed by the same developers who created this game. and yet we still play the game, but imagine how awesome it would be we didn't have to deal with these nagging issues.

If they would make a big patch and fix all stuff mentioned here in forums and sell it like an AddOn or Booster Pack i still would buy it .

I love this game and it hurts seeing it die...
