Default EA Activation server - down for 6 days

I bought 2142 deluxe edition last week and have been trying to Activate NS (like everyone else) since then. During the install it shows a "Click here to launch web browser button" to goto to the activation server, clicking it did nothing. Ok, so I tried manually going to: http://profile.ea.com/gamereg.do?locale=en_US

I can put in the key but it then generates an error:
"System Error. Please try again later."

Ive been trying about twice a day for a week.

Of course Ive mailed EA.. 3 times and each and everytime they copy and paste a reply saying goto: :: Battlefield 2142 ::

even though I have already said the Activation server isnt working (which is linked from that page). So basically EA dont read their emails, *** am I meant to do?

Can you play the regular maps for the core game?

The only other thing that I can suggest is that you contact the EA Support Center and make a ticket with them. But it looks like you already did that.
So
I will pass this along to see what the other Mods say. Maybe they would have an idea on what else you can do.

Yeah, can play normal maps but get booted out when a NS map comes on. Im mailing EA continuously with my login info and key, everything they need yet they keep ignoring the mail and sending me to the above links. Eventually they just drop the ticket entirely then I have to open a new one.

thats nothing new from ea support - not reading emails properly

i think if the email you write to them is more than 2 sentences long then their brains cant cope and they just send back a scrippted reply which has nothing to do with what you have written back in the first place

Well if you can play the regular game; it may just be a matter of re-patching the game.
I am not sure exactly what the process the Deluxe edition uses. But most of us have too install the gale in this order.
BF2142 Core game., 1.40 patch, Northern Strike, 1.40 patch, 1.50 patch.

Can you look into the files and see if the maps are in the levels folder?
Also look at this link.: https://account.ea.com/common/login....parsid=4742630 Log into it and look too see what it says about your game under the My Games Tab. If it says that if the Deluxe Edition is registered or if NS is activated already. If you got the game through the EADM then you would need to look in the Download Tab.

The Deluxe Edition installs Vanilla + NS all in one, so you cant install part of it, patch, then NS. I do have the 1.50 patch (Deluxe Edition is 1.40 out of the box) and have tried either way. The NS maps are installed in the Levels folder, it appears to be a matter of my account not being updated.

Your link (https://account.ea.com/common/login....parsid=4742630) is redirecting to an Invalid URL on "Pogo Games . com" (have to space the text to stop it autofilling with spam from Pogo) bizarrely . I clicked through to the main support page on the Invalid URL page to the EA Account section. Under "My Games" it lists "Battlefield 2142", not the Deluxe Edition despite that also being an option there. When I select register Battlefield 2142 Deluxe Edition and put in my code it tells me the code has been used previously!!!

This is the retail boxed version of 2142 Deluxe, so no download info.

Wait a sec, which link specifically (there are 4 above!) did you try?

Ive just flushed my DNS, changed from OpenDNS.org to my ISPs DNS and tried https://profile.ea.com/gamereg.do a few more times, same "System Error..".

kroaton, did you buy the Deluxe from EADM or a retail store?

A possibility: go to EA LINK at the bottom is a place to enter a code (activation). It worked for some trying to activate NS. I thought NS was downloaded from EADM for the deluxe edition users, but I'm not sure because I have no first hand experience with deluxe. I have read many threads regarding Deluxe in the EA-USA forum. (As Splash and Vector have as well, in attempts to help fellow users)

The evolution from EA Downloader to EA Link to EA Download Manager (EADM) has not been very smooth. I got BF2142 from EA Downloader. I think it was EA Link when NS came out & I got NS from EA Link. (if I'm remembering correctly. It may have been both from EA Downloader....)

Also, when the installation (without any patching/updating) of your purchased Deluxe Edition of BF2142 is completed, @ the login screen, what version does it say (lower right of white login box) the game is?

There are a few other Deluxe Edition threads on here. Here's one of them: Battlefield 2142 Deluxe

Its the retail boxed edition. The DVD installs the NS maps and prompts the user to click an on screen popup (which doesnt do anything) to activate NS. EA LINK goes to the very same activation page which isnt working.

Dont really want to go remove and reinstall again, but right now and afaik when installed it just says 1.50 (or 1.40 on install), no mention of NS. I presume this is because you login it goes to the "EA Master Server" which isnt validating or responding to activation requests and therefore my account isnt flagged as having NS. I dont think this can be fixed by installing again as the installer is basically working (it installs the maps) however the component in it that links to the Web for activation and the web site activation itself are both broken.

2 ways to verify if the NS was loaded during the Deluxe install:

Check the maps folder. Program Files\EA\BF2142\mods\bf2142\levels = your installed BF2142 maps.
or
Run game, login, in game go to Multiplayer - Local - Create, at this screen is a game mode selection. No Vehicles, Titan Conquest, etc. Choose Assault Lines or Titan, where this will show you via the Available Maps list if NS is installed or not. NS maps: Bridge of Remagen, Port Bavaria, & Liberation of Leipzig. If those maps are no in the list from the properly selected Game Mode to make them available, then... NS actually wasn't installed.

Where the activation code actually serves as a prepaid access code to download NS from EADM. Maybe it should be called an access code instead of activation code?

Kroaton, did you empty your internet cache and cookies and retry those links? A stale cookie may prohibit site functionality? (sometimes)

I was curious and went to the EA soar (store) clicking my way into support.... it is a far cry from what it used to be. It used to offer information that generally helped (somewhat), but now.... there is nothing in there. I sorted via PC, BF2142 and many of the sub variables to see each's entire listing of "support" .... there is no support anymore. Did a lawyer audit that and eliminate so much as it may have seemed to then as liability? How absurd! EA Support is a lifeless shell of it's former (sketchy) self. bummer.

AHA! This is what the EA-USA support used to offer: EA Support

The maps are installed in the levels folder. I can see them in the Map list as you described. I cant actually start a local server (no doubt a Vista X64 issue) but thats another matter.

Even though the maps are physically there, whenever I try to connect to a NS game online I get the "You must purchase Northern Strike from EA Link" screen.

Just tried clearing the cache, still the same. Ive also tried 2 different browsers.

Ive just got the EA Downloader (as there is no EA Link anymore). It correctly lists 2142 Deluxe as one of my games as well as some BF2 Boosters which I bought years back.

well ****. that's ain't good. Even after the cache wipe and different browsers.... dang!

There was another oddly placed button within BF2142 which seemed like an activation of sorts... (can't remember, got to boot the PC to find it).... ok. in game, go to Community-Custom Games, highlight the BF2142 on left and buttons appear on the right side. (Launch) Give this one a try. (with fingers crossed)

Another thing I noticed... within MP\Local\Create-Conquest CoOp mode is a similar alternative to Single player mode, but... no NS maps in there. Nor the new ones (Tampa and such).... bummer.

EA Forums: Battlefield 2142 Deluxe - Registration ...
calling EA seems to be the only means to a successful end. Don't expect the person on the phone to do it, as the tech they pass the info to will do the work. The trick is finding a good phone # for EA support (back of any EA game booklet). It ain't easy to find online... I can't find it anywhere. o_O

WOW! EA-USA certainly does not have this option!
Support Centre
an interactive support page! WOW! I still would not expect them to be able to DO anything but read from a script or replies and pass the info to the tech center.

I hear that. All the errors with Jive was a real pain. Thats one of the reasons that I first came here. Plus all the conversations was about hackers. Then their were those people spamming the same thing like HAHAHAHA all over the place. It was real annoying. Things here were and still are in much better shape. It is a better atmosphere as well.

But this is just from my point of view.

Just to let you know Ive tried that and no dice (ooh what a pun . It lists BF2142 (not sure if it should list others) only.

Do you know whats really weird? Im sure Ive played the NS maps once or twice when they came up in rotation. Only once have I ever been booted for not having NS. But I still cannot join any server thats currently running a NS map. Does it sometimes not check with EA what if the expansion is installed and just load the map if its there on the client side?

EDIT: After actually playing the NS maps, I think I imagined being able to play them occasionally in rotation before the account fix!

Oh how mysterious, I get a mail confirming a change has been made to my account and a creepy forum post too!

Yes, I can confirm I can now join and play NS maps, no issues or warning. Many thanks and its nice to see we arent totally alone out here in forum land.
